Abstract
A series of heterogeneous catalysts anchored to different polystyrene-based supports has been prepared and applied in an asymmetric [2,3]-Wittig rearrangement reaction of cyclohexanone derivatives. Among them, primary amino acid-derived (aminomethylated)polystyrene-supported catalysts showed excellent reactivity leading to the formation of rearranged products in good enantioselectivities of both diastereomers. Reusability issues connected to the deactivation of the catalyst were proved to be dependent on the end-capping strategy chosen for the blocking of the unreacted active sites of the resin. This issue of end-capping has not previously been in focus. Using bulkier pivaloyl end-capping moiety, we were able to recycle the catalyst in six consecutive cycles with only marginal deceleration of the reaction. Moreover, the epimerization of the product that occurred while conducting a rearrangement reaction in the presence of a homogeneous catalyst was almost fully eliminated by switching the catalytic system to heterogeneous.

Abstract
Background:
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) is one of the most employed techniques
in structural elucidation of organic compounds. In addition to its use in structural characterization,
it has been widely employed in the investigation of reaction mechanisms, especially those involving
catalysis.
Objective:
In this review, we aim to provide recent examples of the interface of NMR and organocatalysis
reaction mechanism.
Methods:
Selected examples of different approaches for mechanism elucidation will be presented,
such as isotopic effect, catalyst labelling and online reaction monitoring. A discussion involving the
use of solid-state NMR will also be disclosed.
Conclusion:
NMR consists of a non-destructive technique, extremely useful in the real-time identification
of intermediates in crude reaction mixtures. With the advent of two-dimensional experiments
and high field NMR spectrometers, the reports of studies involving mechanistic elucidation were
greatly enhanced. In this context, nowadays NMR appears as a powerful tool for the comprehension
of reaction mechanisms, including the possibility of the proposal of unknown reaction mechanisms
within organocatalysis.

Organocatalytic Asymmetric Conjugate Addition of Aldehydes to Maleimides and Nitroalkenes in Deep Eutectic Solvents. Molecules 2019; 24:molecules24224058. Abstract
A chiral primary amine-salicylamide is used as an organocatalyst for the enantioselective conjugate addition of α,α-disubstituted aldehydes to maleimides and nitroalkenes. The reactions are performed in deep eutectic solvents as reaction media at room temperature, leading to the corresponding adducts with enantioselectivities up to 88% (for maleimides) and 80% (for nitroalkenes). Catalyst and solvent can be recovered and reused.

Abstract
The fabrication of a fully bio-sourced adsorbent of Cd(II) by covalent immobilization of quinine on cellulose paper is described. The double bond of commercially available quinine was converted to a terminal alkyne function which was reacted with cellulose paper, chemically modified with azide functions, through a 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition, leading to Cell-Quin. The adsorption efficiency of Cell-Quin was investigated to determine the optimal pH, contact time and dose of adsorbent, ultimately leading to high levels of removal. The mechanism of adsorption of Cell-Quin was deeply rationalized through kinetic experiments and isotherm modeling. We also showed that Cell-Quin could adsorb other heavy metals such as Cu(II), Pb(II), Ni(II) and Zn (II).

Abstract
Novel C2-symmetric N,N'-bis(2-amino-1,2-diphenylethyl)squaramides with 1,2-di(pyridin-2-yl)ethane and 1,2-diphenylethane spacer groups were designed and applied as organocatalysts in asymmetric additions of 4-hydroxycoumarin and 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-2H-pyran-2-one to α,β-unsaturated ketones. Both enantiomers of the anticoagulant warfarin and its analogs were prepared in up to 96% yield and with 96% ee. Recyclability of the developed catalysts and synthetic utility of the prepared Michael adducts for asymmetric synthesis of potential chiral medications via acylation reactions were demonstrated.

Abstract
Primary amine-salicylamides derived from chiral trans-cyclohexane-1,2-diamines are used as organocatalysts for the enantioselective conjugate addition of α,α-disubstituted aldehydes to arylated and heteroarylated nitroalkenes. The reaction is performed in the presence of 4-dimethylaminopyridine as an additive in dichloromethane as a solvent at room temperature. The corresponding enantioenriched γ-nitroaldehydes are obtained with enantioselectivities up to 95%. Theoretical calculations are used to justify the reasons of the stereoinduction.
