Calcination Atmosphere Regulated Morphology and Catalytic Performance of Pt/SiO2in Gas-phase Oxidative Dehydrogenation of KA-oil

Calcination-controlled performance optimization of iron-vanadium bimetallic oxide nanoparticles for synergistic tumor therapy

Calcination has been widely demonstrated as a favorable protocol for producing various inorganic nanomaterials for tumor therapy. However, little attention has been paid to its effect on the biotherapeutic efficacy of inorganic nanomaterials. Herein, we compare the effects of different calcination atmospheres on the therapeutic efficacy of Fe-V-O (FVO) nanomaterials. We find that compared with FVO nanomaterials synthesized by calcination in air, those prepared by argon calcination have a lower metallic valence state and a higher near-infrared light absorption capacity, hence resulting in significantly better biosafety and higher chemodynamic therapy (CDT)/photothermal therapy (PTT) efficacy. This study demonstrates that the therapeutic efficacy of inorganic nanomaterials can be optimized by employing different thermal treatment atmospheres, which provides new insights into the development of efficient anti-tumor agents.

Engineering Pt-Bi2O3 Interface to Boost Cyclohexanone Selectivity in Oxidative Dehydrogenation of KA-Oil

Oxidative dehydrogenation of KA-oil (a mixture of cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol) is an economically attractive process to produce cyclohexanone because it provides a chance to avoid the energy-intensive alcohol-ketone separation process. The application of this process, however, is hampered by the low cyclohexanone selectivity which results from the competitive adsorption of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone on the catalyst surface. Herein, by engineering Pt-Bi2O3 interface to tune the geometric and electronic structure of Pt, we successfully weaken the cyclohexanone adsorption without compromising the oxidation of cyclohexanol. As a result, Bi2O3-Pt/SiO2 with Bi-to-Pd ratio of 0.2 exhibits a 5 times higher cyclohexanone selectivity than Pt/SiO2 at the same conversion of KA oil. Long term test suggests that the Pt-Bi2O3 interface is stable in the oxidative dehydrogenation of KA-oil.

Engineering porous Pd-Cu nanocrystals with tailored three-dimensional catalytic facets for highly efficient formic acid oxidation

Rational synthesis of bi- or multi-metallic nanomaterials with both dendritic and porous features is appealing yet challenging. Herein, with the cubic Cu₂O nanoparticles composed of ultrafine Cu₂O nanocrystals as a self-template, a series of Pd-Cu nanocrystals with different morphologies (e.g., aggregates, porous nanodendrites, meshy nanochains and porous nanoboxes) are synthesized through simply regulating the molar ratio of the Pd precursor to the cubic Cu₂O, indicating that the galvanic replacement and Kirkendall effect across the alloying process are well controlled. Among the as-developed various Pd-Cu nanocrystals, the porous nanodendrites with both dendritic and hollow features show superior electrocatalytic activity toward formic acid oxidation. Comprehensive characterizations including three-dimensional simulated reconstruction of a single particle and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy reveal that the surface steps, defects, three-dimensional architecture, and the electronic/strain effects between Cu and Pd are responsible for the outstanding catalytic activity and excellent stability of the Pd-Cu porous nanodendrites.
