Abstract
Traditional synthesis methodologies for fuel cell catalyst production involve long reactions and uncontrollable reaction processes. Synthesis methods for the production of catalysts typically have difficulties to achieve catalysts materials with consistency, high activity, and durability. In this study, a fast, simple, and suitable continuous pipeline microwave method for catalyst mass production was developed, with the carbon carrier being treated at different temperatures simultaneously. The method herein developed resulted in carbon-supported platinum (Pt) catalysts with high activity and high durability. In addition, the half-wave potential of the catalyst exceeded 0.9 V, the electrochemical active surface area reached 85.7 m2-gPt-1, and the mass specific activity reached 171.1 mA-mg-1. Remarkably, after 30,000 cycles of Pt attenuation tests and 30,000 cycles of carbon carrier attenuation tests, the retention rate of the annealed carbon carrier catalyst reached 80 %. As a membrane electrode, the catalyst generated a single cell maximum power density of 1.4 W-cm-2, and the Pt content reached 0.286 gPt-kW-1. The work provides an effective and practical method for the mass production of high-performance and high-durability catalysts, which guiding significance for mass production of catalysts.

Abstract
Polymetallic transition metal phosphides (TMPs) exhibit quasi-metallic properties and a high electrical conductivity, making them attractive for high-performance hybrid supercapacitors (HSCs). Herein, a nanohoneycomb (NHC)-like FeNi layered double hydroxide (LDH) array was grown in situ on 3D current collector nickel foam (NF), which is also the nickel source during the hydrothermal process. By adjusting the amount of NaH2PO2, an incomplete phosphated FeNi(OH/P) nanosheet array was obtained. The optimized FeNi(OH/P) nanosheet array exhibited a high capacity up to 3.6 C cm−2 (408.3 mAh g−1) and an excellent long-term cycle performance (72.0% after 10,000 cycles), which was much better than FeNi LDH’s precursor. In addition, the hybrid supercapacitor (HSC) assembled with FeNi(OH/P) (cathode) and polypyrrole (PPy/C, anode) achieved an ultra-high energy density of 45 W h kg−1 at a power density of 581 W kg−1 and an excellent cycle stability (118.5%, 2000 cycles), indicating its great potential as an HSC with a high electrochemical performance.

Abstract
The exploration and development of different carbon nanomaterials happening over the past years have established carbon electrodes as an important electrocatalyst for oxygen reduction reaction. Metal-free catalysts are especially promising potential alternatives for replacing Pt-based catalysts. This article describes recent advances and challenges in the three main synthesis manners (i.e., pyrolysis, hydrothermal method, and chemical vapor deposition) as effective methods for the production of metal-free carbon-based catalysts. To improve the catalytic activity, heteroatom doping the structure of graphene, carbon nanotubes, porous carbons, and carbon nanofibers is important and makes them a prospective candidate for commercial applications. Special attention is paid to providing an overview on the recent major works about nitrogen-doped carbon electrodes with various concentrations and chemical environments of the heteroatom active sites. A detailed discussion and summary of catalytic properties in aqueous electrolytes is given for graphene and porous carbon-based catalysts in particular, including recent studies performed in the authors’ research group. Finally, we discuss pathways and development opportunities approaching the practical use of mainly graphene-based catalysts for metal–air batteries and fuel cells.

Abstract
A new approach is described for fabricating 3D poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL)/gelatin (1:1) nanofiber aerogels with patterned macrochannels and anisotropic microchannels by freeze-casting with 3D-printed sacrificial templates. Single layer or multiple layers of macrochannels are formed through an inverse replica of 3D-printed templates. Aligned microchannels formed by partially anisotropic freezing act as interconnected pores between templated macrochannels. The resulting macro-/microchannels within nanofiber aerogels significantly increase preosteoblast infiltration in vitro. The conjugation of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-mimicking QK peptide to PCL/gelatin/gelatin methacryloyl (1:0.5:0.5) nanofiber aerogels with patterned macrochannels promotes the formation of a microvascular network of seeded human microvascular endothelial cells. Moreover, nanofiber aerogels with patterned macrochannels and anisotropic microchannels show significantly enhanced cellular infiltration rates and host tissue integration compared to aerogels without macrochannels following subcutaneous implantation in rats. Taken together, this novel class of nanofiber aerogels holds great potential in biomedical applications including tissue repair and regeneration, wound healing, and 3D tissue/disease modeling.
