Abstract
Two novel three-dimensional (3D) 3d-4f mixed complexes [Ln(H(2)O)(4)][Ni(2)TTHA(SCN)(2)].H(3)O+ [Ln = Pr (1), Ce (2); H(6)TTHA = triethylenetetraaminehexaacetic acid], based on the building blocks of [Ni(2)TTHA(SCN)(2)](4-), were synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystal diffraction and magnetic properties. The single-crystal structures show that these complexes form a 3D framework, comprised of an unusual infinite one-dimensional chain based on heterometallic Ln2Ni2 rings. The temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibilities were analyzed by an approximate model, leading to g = 2.06. Delta = 2.83, zJ' = -0.6 cm-1 for complex 1 and g = 2.07, Delta = 1.00, zJ' = -0.5 cm(-1) for complex 2.

Abstract
Two new coordination polymers {[Ln(2)(PDA)(6)Co(3)(H(2)O)(6)] x xH(2)O}(n) [Ln = Nd, x = 7 (1); Ln = Gd, x = 3.25 (2); H(2)PDA = pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid] have been prepared under hydrothermal conditions with Ln(NO(3))(3) x 6H(2)O, CoO, and H(2)PDA in a molar ratio of 2:3:6. X-ray crystallographic analyses reveal that they crystallize in the hexagonal group P6/mcc and exhibit a nanotubular 3D framework. The adsorption experiment shows that 1 and 2 can adsorb radicals, which is proven by electron paramagnetic resonance spectra with the characteristic bands of the radicals at g = 2.006 and 2.005, respectively.

Abstract
The oxovanadium(IV)-lanthanide(III) heteronuclear complexes, [[Ce(H2O)7(VO)(TTHA)0.5][(VO)2(TTHA)]].8H2O (2), [Pr(H2O)7(VO)3(TTHA)1.5].10H2O (3), and [Nd(H2O)7(VO)3(TTHA)(1.5)].10H2O (4) (H6TTHA = triethylenetetraaminehexaacetic acid), were prepared based on a binuclear building block of [(VO)2(TTHA)]2- in [VO(H2O)5][(VO)2TTHA].4H2O (1). The X-ray crystallographic studies show that 1 is an ion-pair complex, containing the [(VO)2(TTHA)]2- unit as a useful building block. Adding the light Ln3+ ions to this synthesis system, three new 3d-4f mixed-metal-based complexes were obtained. Although the light lanthanide ions always exhibit similar chemical behavior, the structures of 2-4 are not homologous. 2 is exhibited as a one-dimensional coordination polymer, comprising an unusual Ce2V2 heterometallic lattice in the chain structure, which is the second report of a oxovanadium(IV)-lanthanide(III) coordination polymer. 3 and 4 are isomorphic, every two of the Ln3+ cations linked three [(VO)2(TTHA)]2- anions, forming an interesting linear octanuclear structure. This kind of heteronuclear linear complex is rather rare, which expands the realm of 3d-4f complexes. Further investigations such as IR spectra, UV-vis spectra, magnetic properties, and EPR spectra were studied, and a detailed discussion is given for this system.

Abstract
Oxovanadium(V) complexes and with general formula VO(L3*)(OR5) were prepared in quantitative yields in alcohol (R5OH) from reactions of VO(O-i-Pr)3 and tridentate Schiff bases of beta-amino alcohols having one or two stereogenic centers, (HO)C*(R1)(R2)C*H(R3)N[double bond, length as m-dash]CH(2-OH-3,5-R4(2)-C6H2) (H2L3*). The alkoxy OR5 ligand exchanges readily with the alcoholic molecule in the solvent. Crystal structures of and were determined to be five-coordinate square pyramidal monomers. However, 1H NMR spectra of the complexes reveal two sets of signals, indicating the presence of two isomers in solution. The two isomers are suggested to be the endo/exo pair or the monomer/dimer pair. Asymmetric oxidations of methyl phenyl sulfide catalyzed by catalyst precursors were demonstrated to afford the chiral sulfoxide in yields and ee values similar to those obtained from the in situ-formed catalytic systems of VO(acac)2 and corresponding Schiff base ligands. Complexes and are also good catalysts for asymmetric alkynyl additions to aldehydes. Structural differences between the oxovanadium complexes, for inducing high stereoselectivities in the asymmetric oxidation of organic sulfides and the asymmetric alkynyl addition to aldehydes, are rationalized.

Abstract
A series of lanthanide and lanthanide-transition metal compounds with isonicotinic acid (Hina) and oxalate ligands have been synthesized under hydrothermal reactions. X-Ray crystal structure analyses reveal that they have a rich structural chemistry. Three distinct structure types were exhibited with decreasing lanthanide radii: [LnCu(ina)(2)(C(2)O(4))].H(2)O (Ln=La 1, Pr 2, Nd 3) for type I, [Ln(ina)(C(2)O(4))(H(2)O)(2)] (Ln=Sm 4, Eu 5, Gd 6) for type II, and [Ln(ina)(C(2)O(4))(0.5)(OH)] (Ln=Tb 7, Dy 8, Er 9) for type III. The structure of type I has a 3d-4f heterometallic structure and consists of 1D channels along the b axis, which filled with guest water molecules. They exhibit a first 3D uninodal eight-connected framework with a unique 3(6).4(18).5(3).6 topology. Type II has 2D Ln-ina-C(2)O(4) 4(4)-nets, the nitrogen donors of the ina ligand are not coordinated to any of the metal ions, inducing the lower dimensional networks. Type III consists of 2D Ln-C(2)O(4) layers pillared by ina ligands to form a pillared-layer framework. The structure evolution is due to the versatile coordination modes of ina and oxalate ligands as well as the lanthanide contraction effect. Notably, the oxalate ligand was in situ synthesized from orotic acid through an oxidation-hydrolysis reaction. The type III materials show high thermal stability; luminescence properties of Nd 3, Sm 4, Eu 5, Tb 7 are also investigated.

Abstract
Two Dy-Mn polymers, {[Dy(L1)3Mn(1.5)(H2O)3]3.125H2O}n (1, L1 = pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid) and {[Dy(L2)3Mn(1.5)(H2O)6]8.25H2O}n (2, L2 = 4-hydroxylpyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid), with high symmetry (S6) have been prepared. Polymer 1 has a nanoporous 3D framework with channel of about 17.6 A diameter, while 2 has a honeycomb-type 2D structure with the cavity of approximately 14.4 A diameter. In the construction of multidimensional porous polymers with 3d-4f mixed metals, it is the first observation that a ligand substituent effect leads to dramatic differences in the structures formed. Luminescent studies reveal that the emission intensities of 1 and 2 increase significantly upon the addition of Mg2+, whereas the introduction of other metal ions leaves the intensity unchanged or even weakens it; hence, both of them may serve as good candidates of Mg2+ luminescent probes. To our knowledge, complex 1 is also the first example of a 3d-4f metal-based nanoporous polymer to exhibit luminescent selectivity for Mg2+. Magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal a rather rare ferromagnetic interaction in 2. Thermal gravimetric analyses and powder X-ray diffraction investigations have also been performed, suggestive of high thermal stability of 1.
