Abstract
In this work, a new porphyrin, 5,10,15,20-tetrakis{4-[((4-methoxyphenyl)acetyl)oxy]phenyl}porphyrin (H2TMAPP) (1), and its cobalt complex [CoII(TMAPP)] (2) were synthesized in good and quantitative yields, respectively. The chemical structures of these synthesized compounds were confirmed by FT-IR, 1H NMR, MS, UV-visible, and fluorescence spectroscopy. Their photophysical properties, namely their molar extinction coefficients (∑), fluorescence quantum yields (Φf) and lifetimes (τf), were determined and compared with those of meso-tetraphenylporphyrin. Furthermore, their electrochemical behaviours were examined using cyclic voltammetry (CV). Dielectric properties such as the conductivity (σ) and the real (M′) and imaginary (M′′) parts of the dielectric modulus were investigated as a function of temperature and frequency. The impedance analysis was carried out using Cole–Cole plots to elucidate the electrical conduction mechanism. The catalytic power and the adsorption properties of the prepared compounds were studied for methylene blue (MB) and crystal violet (CV) degradation. The results reveal that the studied compound [CoII(TMAPP)] can be used as a catalyst for the decolourisation of dyes in the presence of H2O2. In this work, a new porphyrin, 5,10,15,20-tetrakis{4-[((4-methoxyphenyl)acetyl)oxy]phenyl}porphyrin (H2TMAPP) (1), and its cobalt complex [CoII(TMAPP)] (2) were synthesized in good and quantitative yields, respectively.![]()

Abstract
Intermolecular interactions play a fundamental role on the performance of conjugated materials in organic electronic devices, as they heavily influence their optoelectronic properties. Synthetic control over the solid state properties of organic optoelectronic materials is crucial to access real life applications. Perylene diimides (PDIs) are one of the most highly studied classes of organic fluorescent dyes. In the solid state, π-π stacking suppresses their emission, limiting their use in a variety of applications. Here, we report the synthesis of a novel PDI dye that is encapsulated by four alkylene straps. X-ray crystallography indicates that intermolecular π-π stacking is completely suppressed in the crystalline state. This is further validated by the photophysical properties of the dye in both solution and solid state and supported by theoretical calculations. However, we find that the introduction of the encapsulating "arms" results in the creation of charge-transfer states which modify the excited state properties. This article demonstrates that molecular encapsulation can be used as a powerful tool to tune intermolecular interactions and thereby gain an extra level of control over the solid state properties of organic optoelectronic materials.

Abstract
Chiral binaphthyl-strapped Zn(II) porphyrins with triazolium halide units were synthesized as bifunctional catalysts for kinetic resolution of epoxides with CO2. Several catalysts were screened by changing the linker length and nucleophilic counteranions, and the optimized catalyst accelerated the enantioselective reaction at ambient temperature to produce optically active cyclic carbonates and epoxides.

Abstract
We report the synthesis and photochemical and photophysical properties of double alkylene-strapped 9,10-diphenylanthracene derivatives 3a-c (a: C6 strap, b: C7 strap, c: C8 strap) in which the reactive central aromatic ring of the anthracene moiety is protected by the double alkylene straps. Thus, 3a-c were much more resistant to photochemical reactions than the parent 9,10-diphenylanthracene (DPA). Furthermore, 3b in C6H12 as well as in a cast film and the powder state showed the highest fluorescence quantum yields among 3a, 3b, quadruple triethylsilyl-protected DPA 4, and DPA, wherein the C7 strap in 3b effectively serves to block fluorescence self-quenching.

Abstract
We have synthesized a new entity of polymer structures composed of π-conjugated molecules: alternating donor-acceptor (D-A) copolymers featuring orthogonally arrayed transition dipoles along the polymer backbone. Such a unique structure could lead to novel functional fluorescent materials; therefore, we examined fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) properties of the D-A copolymers using absorption, fluorescence, and fluorescence lifetime measurements based on the principle of FRET. The results suggested that the orthogonal and alternating D-A copolymer could potentially lead to a new FRET system in which the efficiency is sensitive to the polymer conformation.
