Abstract
An expedient approach to the synthesis of 4-azaspiro[2.3]hexane derivatives is described. The synthetic scheme consists of Tebbe olefination of N-Boc-protected 2-azetidinone (including the first use of the deuterated Petasis reagent Cp2Ti(CD3)2 in the building block preparation) and cyclopropanation of the resulting intermediate. The developed protocols allowed for the preparation of target building blocks on a multigram scale (up to 52 g). To illustrate the potential of the obtained 4-azaspiro[2.3]hexane derivatives for isosteric replacements in drug discovery, their physicochemical and structural characterization was performed, i.e., basicity (pKa) and lipophilicity (Log P) measurements, X-ray diffraction studies, and exit vector plot (EVP) analysis.

Abstract
Enesulfinamides with α,β,β-trisubstitution undergo a Simmons-Smith reaction to yield multisubstituted cyclopropylamine derivatives with high stereocontrol. The resulting α-tertiary cyclopropylamine derivatives, which feature β-quaternary stereocenters bearing two electronically and sterically similar substituents (e.g., methyl and ethyl), are seldom achieved by using conventional methods. By adjusting the stereochemistry of the carbon-carbon double bond and/or sulfinyl group within the enesulfinamides, it is feasible to selectively produce four stereoisomers of the cyclopropylamines, each with different absolute configurations at the α- and β-carbons.

Abstract
The possibility of generating organically modified hollow TiO2 microspheres via a simple sol-gel synthesis was demonstrated for the first time in this work. A mixture of titania precursors, including an organically modified precursor, was used to obtain methyl-modified hollow TiO2 microspheres selective for bilirubin by the molecular imprinting technique (Methyl-HTM-MIM). Methyl-HTM-MIM were prepared by a sol-gel method using titanium (IV) isopropoxide (TTIP), and methyltitanium triisopropoxide (MTTIP) as precursors. Two ratios of titania precursors were tested (1/6 and 1/30 molMTTIP/molTTIP). With the characterization results obtained by the SEM and ATR-FTIR techniques, it was possible to establish that only the 1/30 molMTTIP/molTTIP ratio allowed for the preparation of hollow spheres with a reasonably homogeneous methylated-TiO2 shell. It was possible to obtain a certain degree of organization of the hybrid network, which increased with calcination temperatures. By adjusting isothermal adsorption models, imprinting parameters were determined, indicating that the new methylated microspheres presented greater selectivity for bilirubin than the totally inorganic hollow TiO2 microspheres. The effectiveness of the molecular imprinting technique was proven for the first time in an organically modified titania material, with imprinting factor values greater than 1.4, corresponding to a significant increase in the maximum adsorption capacity of the template represented by the molecularly imprinted microspheres. In summary, the results obtained with the new methyl-HTM-MIM open the possibility of exploring the application of these microspheres for selective sorption (separation or sensing, for example) or perhaps even for selective photocatalysis, particularly for the degradation of organic compounds.

Abstract
A novel and facile approach to synthesis of 1-substituted cyclopropylamines via phosphine-catalyzed formal tertiary Csp3-H amination of cyclopropanes was described. The indoles, pyrroles, imidazoles, uracils, 2-pyridone, pyrimidin-4(3H)-one, and phthalimide had been proven as good aminating partners. The present protocol features transition-metal-free, excellent regioselectivity, high-atom-economy, and mild reaction conditions and a broad range of substrates. The practicability of this protocol can also be demonstrated with late-stage modification of bioactive molecules, scaled up reaction, and divergent derivatization. Notably, the method has been used in the formal synthesis of the hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) inhibitor. The mechanistic aspects were elucidated by both experimental and computational studies.

Abstract
Cyclopropylamines are prevalent in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Herein, we report the synthesis of trans-2-substituted cyclopropylamines in high diastereoselectivity from readily available α-chloroaldehydes. The reaction proceeds via trapping of an electrophilic zinc homoenolate with an amine followed by ring closure to generate the cyclopropylamine. We have also observed that cyclopropylamine cis/trans-isomerization occurs in the presence of zinc halide salts and that this process can be turned off by the addition of a polar aprotic cosolvent.

Abstract
Previously unknown 1,1-dicyclopropylhydrazine was obtained in two steps starting from dicyclopropylamine. It serves as a convenient starting material to tri- and tetracyclopropylhydrazines, which have not been described in the literature either. Tricyclopropylhydrazine was prepared in an overall four-step sequence featuring the de Meijere-Chaplinski modification of the Kulinkovich reaction as a key step. Tetracyclopropylhydrazine was obtained by the reductive amination of the cyclopropanone ethyl trimethylsilyl acetal with 1,1-dicyclopropylhydrazine or with the parent hydrazine. Synthetic utility of these cyclopropylhydrazine building blocks is presented as well.

Abstract
Cyclopropanes fused to pyrrolidines are important structural features found in a number of marketed drugs and development candidates. Typically, their synthesis involves the cyclopropanation of a dihydropyrrole precursor. Reported herein is a complementary approach which employs a palladium(0)-catalyzed C-H functionalization of an achiral cyclopropane to close the pyrrolidine ring in an enantioselective manner. In contrast to aryl-aryl couplings, palladium(0)-catalyzed C-H functionalizations involving the formation of C(sp(3) )-C(sp(3) ) bonds of saturated heterocycles are very scarce. The presented strategy yields cyclopropane-fused γ-lactams from chloroacetamide substrates. A bulky Taddol phosphonite ligand in combination with adamantane-1-carboxylic acid as a cocatalyst provides the γ-lactams in excellent yields and enantioselectivities.
