Abstract
We describe a preparative method for directing Mizoroki-Heck cyclotrimerization of enantioenriched bromonorbornenes into molecular baskets having increasingly deeper and extendable aromatic cavities. Such diastereoselective cyclotrimerizations of the bromo-olefinic substrates resulted from prevalent β migratory insertions without the formation of palladacycle intermediate(s). The facile access to multigram quantity of a new series of basket-like hosts clears the way for creating novel supramolecular materials for storage, sequestration and catalysis.

Abstract
A concise and protecting-group-free total synthesis of the antiproliferative natural product (±)-deguelin (2) was accomplished in four steps and 62% overall yield from commercially available precursors. The key transformation employed a vinyl iodide as the pivotal building block to construct the 4-acylchromene substructure present in deguelin. Subsequent Cu2O-mediated α-hydroxylation of deguelin (2) afforded tephrosin (3) in 90% yield.

Abstract
Regiospecific Beckmann rearrangement of substituted 2-hydroximinonorbornanone carboxylic acids has been investigated. Selective formation of new functionalized 10-oxo-9-azabicyclo[3.3.2]decanes and 7-oxo-6-azabicyclo[3.2.2]nonanes in good yield has been demonstrated. Presence of neighboring carboxylic group allows conducting of Beckmann rearrangement of strained bicyclic compounds.
