Abstract
We present, for the first time, an efficient ligand-free iron-copper catalyzed cross-coupling reaction involving a variety of aryl, heteroaryl halides (including chlorides, bromides, and iodides), and alkyl bromides with diverse aryl and aliphatic primary amides, conducted under solvent-minimized conditions. This economically competitive protocol successfully yielded the corresponding cross-coupling products, N-arylamides and N-alkylamides, in good to excellent yields with broad substrate scope (65 examples) and tolerance to several sensitive functionalities (including heterocycles). No conventional work-up is required for this protocol, and the developed method is applicable for gram-scale synthesis. Notably, the catalyst is inexpensive, environmentally friendly, and can be reused at least four times with minimal loss of catalytic activity. A series of experiments, including X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry (CV), electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were conducted to identify the oxidation state of active catalytic species and radical clock experiment was performed using a radical probe to investigate the reaction mechanism. Furthermore, we evaluated the antibacterial and anticancer properties of selected synthesized products (3 ii, 3 xii, and 3 xxxx) in-vitro. The results indicated that the prepared compounds exhibited promising antibacterial and anticancer activities (MTT and Molecular Docking).

Abstract
We present a mild and efficient method for the arylation of N-H heteroarenes using a low-loading Pd/keYPhos catalyst (0.8 mol%). This approach employs inexpensive and structurally diverse aryl chlorides as electrophiles in reactions with indoles, pyrroles, and carbazole, enabling the construction of a wide range of N-arylated products. The method exhibits excellent functional group tolerance and is suitable for gram-scale synthesis. Furthermore, the relatively inert Ar-Cl bond allows for late-stage functionalization of pharmaceuticals and stepwise coupling reactions, providing a complementary strategy for the N-arylation of N-H heteroarenes.

Abstract
The conversion of aryl halides to primary arylamines with a convenient and inexpensive source of ammonia has been a long-standing synthetic challenge. Aqueous ammonia would be the most convenient and least expensive form of ammonia, but such a palladium-catalyzed amination reaction with a high concentration of water faces challenges concerning catalyst stability and competing hydroxylation, and palladium-catalyzed reactions with this practical reagent are rare. Further, most reactions with ammonia to form primary amines are conducted with tert-butoxide base, but reactions with ammonium hydroxide would contain hydroxide as base. Thus, ammonia surrogates, ammonia in organic solvents, and ammonium salts have been used under anhydrous conditions instead with varying levels of selectivity for the primary amine. We report the palladium-catalyzed amination of aryl and heteroaryl chlorides and bromides with aqueous ammonia and a hydroxide base to form the primary arylamine with high selectivity. The palladium catalyst containing a new dialkyl biheteroaryl phosphine ligand (KPhos) suppresses both the formation of aryl alcohol and diarylamine side products. Mechanistic studies with a soluble hydroxide base revealed turnover-limiting reductive elimination of the arylamine and an equilibrium between arylpalladium amido and hydroxo complexes prior to the turnover-limiting step.

Abstract
Nickel-catalyzed cross-couplings of (hetero)aryl electrophiles with a diversity of nucleophiles (nitrogen, oxygen, carbon, and others) have evolved into competitive alternatives to well-established palladium- and copper-based protocols for the synthesis of (hetero)aryl products, including (hetero)anilines and (hetero)aryl ethers. A survey of the literature reveals that the use of cage phosphine (CgP) 'DalPhos' (DALhousie PHOSphine) bisphosphine-type ligands operating under thermal conditions currently offers the most broad substrate scope in nickel-catalyzed cross-couplings of this type, especially involving (hetero)aryl chlorides and phenol-derived electrophiles. The development and application of these DalPhos ligands is described in a ligand-specific manner that is intended to serve as a guide for the synthetic chemistry end-user.

Abstract
Sustainable technology for constructing Pd-catalyzed C-N bonds involving aliphatic amines is reported. A catalytic system that relies on low levels of recyclable precious metal, a known and commercially available ligand, and a recyclable aqueous medium are combined, leading to a newly developed procedure. This new technology can be used in ocean water with equal effectiveness. Applications involving highly challenging reaction partners constituting late-stage functionalization are documented, as is a short but efficient synthesis of the drug naftopidil. Comparisons with existing aminations highlight the many advances being offered.

Abstract
Copper(II) complexes with tridentate NNN-ligands were utilized for Chan-Evans-Lam (CEL) cross-coupling reactions to enable the N-arylation of multifarious N-nucleophiles through the activation of aryl boronic acids. A condition-specific methodology was developed to chemoselectively target the amine versus sulfonamide N-arylation of 4-aminobenzenesulfonamide using new catalysts. Two different pyridine-based ligands and corresponding copper(II) complexes were characterized using 1H and 13C-NMR, FTIR, and UV-vis spectroscopy, HRMS, single-crystal X-ray diffraction, and cyclic voltammetry. Solvent and base-controlled cross-coupling reactions were observed, which led to the optimization of selective conditions for targeted C-N bond formation of sulfanilamides. Beyond the chemoselective processes reported here, a breadth of N-nucleophiles including sulfanilamides and arylamines were screened for arylation by this CEL catalyst.

Abstract
A microwave-promoted, one-pot, three-component synthesis of N-arylindoles has been developed, utilising sequential Fischer indolisation then copper(i)-catalysed indole N-arylation. Novel arylation conditions were identified that use a simple and cheap catalyst/base system (Cu2O/K3PO4) in an environmentally benign solvent (ethanol), with no requirement for ligands, additives or exclusion of air or water, and microwave irradiation enabled significant acceleration of this commonly sluggish process. These conditions were designed to dovetail with Fischer indolisation, and the resulting one-pot, two-step sequence is rapid (total reaction time = 40 minutes), operationally straightforward, generally high yielding and it draws upon readily available hydrazine, ketone/aldehyde and aryl iodide building blocks. This process shows broad substrate tolerance and we have demonstrated its utility in the synthesis of 18 N-arylindoles bearing varied and useful functionality.

Abstract
The palladium-catalyzed solid-state C-N cross-coupling of carbazoles with aryl halides via a high-temperature ball-milling technique has been reported. This reaction allowed simple, fast, and efficient synthesis of N-arylcarbazole derivatives in good to excellent yields without the use of large amounts of organic solvents in air. Importantly, the developed solid-state coupling approach enabled the cross-coupling of poorly soluble aryl halides with large polyaromatic structures that are barely reactive under conventional solution-based conditions.

Abstract
The design, synthesis, commercialization and application of air-stable Ni(II)/Josiphos complexes has been realized in a collaboration between Solvias and ICBMS (University Lyon 1). The Ni-complexes are utilized as versatile precatalysts for diverse cross-coupling reactions. Apart from being active in established C-C and C-N couplings at low catalyst loadings, the novel Ni-precatalysts enabled the development of the challenging monoarylation of ammonia, ammonia surrogates and even alkylammonium chlorides with aryl carbamates. Finally, the α-arylation of acetone with aryl chlorides, carbamates and pivalates was demonstrated using the Ni(II)/Josiphos precatalysts.

However, among the compounds studied, complex (2) showed the most promising biological properties: the highest stability in biologically relevant media, selectivity towards cancer cells over the non-cancer cells (HUVEC, human umbilical vein endothelial cells), and the highest inhibitory effect on cytosolic NADPH-dependent reductases in A2780 and A2780cis cells among the gold complexes under analysis.

Abstract
Reported here is the Pd-catalyzed C-N coupling of hydrazine with (hetero)aryl chlorides and bromides to form aryl hydrazines with catalyst loadings as low as 100 ppm of Pd and KOH as base. Mechanistic studies revealed two catalyst resting states: an arylpalladium(II) hydroxide and arylpalladium(II) chloride. These compounds are present in two interconnected catalytic cycles and react with hydrazine and base or hydrazine alone to give the product. The selectivity of the hydroxide complex with hydrazine to form aryl over diaryl hydrazine was lower than that of the chloride complex, as well as the catalytic reaction. In contrast, the selectivity of the chloride complex closely matched that of the catalytic reaction, indicating that the aryl hydrazine is derived from this complex. Kinetic studies showed that the coupling process occurs by rate-limiting deprotonation of a hydrazine-bound arylpalladium(II) chloride complex to give an arylpalladium(II) hydrazido complex.

Abstract
The amination of aryl halides has become one of the most commonly practiced C-N bond-forming reactions in pharmaceutical and laboratory syntheses. The widespread use of strong or poorly soluble inorganic bases for amine activation nevertheless complicates the compatibility of this important reaction class with sensitive substrates as well as applications in flow and automated synthesis, to name a few. We report a palladium-catalyzed C-N coupling using Et3N as a weak, soluble base, which allows a broad substrate scope that includes bromo- and chloro(hetero)arenes, primary anilines, secondary amines, and amide type nucleophiles together with tolerance for a range of base-sensitive functional groups. Mechanistic data have established a unique pathway for these reactions in which water serves multiple beneficial roles. In particular, ionization of a neutral catalytic intermediate via halide displacement by H2O generates, after proton loss, a coordinatively unsaturated Pd-OH species that can bind amine substrate triggering intramolecular N-H heterolysis. This water-assisted pathway operates efficiently with even weak terminal bases, such as Et3N. The use of a simple, commercially available ligand, PAd3, is key to this water-assisted mechanism by promoting coordinative unsaturation in catalytic intermediates responsible for the heterolytic activation of strong element-hydrogen bonds, which enables broad compatibility of carbon-heteroatom cross-coupling reactions with sensitive substrates and functionality.

Abstract
The development of a novel selective synthesis of 3-amino-2H-indazoles from readily available 2-halobenzonitriles is presented. The reaction proceeds through a domino reaction sequence, consisting of a regioselective palladium-catalyzed coupling of monosubstituted hydrazines with 2-halobenzonitriles, followed by an intramolecular hydroamination through a 5-exo-dig cyclization and subsequent isomerization to directly afford a wide variety of substituted 2H-indazole analogues in good to excellent yields.

Abstract
The direct reductive N-arylation of nitromethane by organophosphorus-catalyzed reductive C-N coupling with arylboronic acid derivatives is reported. This method operates by the action of a small ring organophosphorus-based catalyst (1,2,2,3,4,4-hexamethylphosphetane P-oxide) together with a mild terminal reductant hydrosilane to drive the selective installation of the methylamino group to (hetero)aromatic boronic acids and esters. This method also provides for a unified synthetic approach to isotopically labeled N-methylanilines from various stable isotopologues of nitromethane (i.e., CD3NO2, CH315NO2, and 13CH3NO2), revealing this easy-to-handle compound as a versatile precursor for the direct installation of the methylamino group.

Abstract
Aryl amines are important pharmaceutical intermediates among other numerous applications. Herein, an environmentally benign route and novel approach to aryl amine synthesis using dehydrative amination of phenols with amines and styrene under continuous-flow conditions was developed. Inexpensive and readily available phenols were efficiently converted into the corresponding aryl amines, with small amounts of easily removable co-products (i.e., H2 O and alkanes), in multistep continuous-flow reactors in the presence of heterogeneous Pd catalysts. The high product selectivity and functional-group tolerance of this method allowed aryl amines with diverse functional groups to be selectively obtained in high yields over a continuous operation time of one week.

Abstract
A series of 2-aminobiphenyl palladacycles supported by dialkylterphenyl phosphines, PR2 Ar' (R=Me, Et, iPr, Cyp (cyclopentyl), Ar'=ArDipp2 , ArXyl2f , Dipp (2,6-C6H3-(2,6-C6H3-(CHMe2)2)2), Xyl=xylyl) have been prepared and structurally characterized. Neutral palladacycles were obtained with less bulky terphenyl phosphines (i.e., Me and Et substituents) whereas the largest phosphines provided cationic palladacycles in which the phosphines adopted a bidentate hemilabile k1 -P,η1 -Carene coordination mode. The influence of the ligand structure on the catalytic performance of these Pd precatalysts was evaluated in aryl amination reactions. Cationic complexes bearing the phosphines PiPr2 ArXyl2 and PCyp2 ArXyl2 were the most active of the series. These precatalysts have demonstrated a high versatility and efficiency in the coupling of a variety of nitrogen nucleophiles, including secondary amines, alkyl amines, anilines, and indoles, with electronically deactivated and ortho-substituted aryl chlorides at low catalyst loadings (0.25-0.75 mol % Pd) and without excess ligand.

Abstract
A 1 : 1 Pd : ligand complex, [t-BuXPhos(Pd-π-cinnamyl)]OTf, has been identified as a highly robust pre-catalyst for amination reactions leading to diarylamines, where loadings of metal are typically at 1000 ppm Pd, run in water at temperatures between rt and 45 °C. The protocol is exceptionally simple, is readily scaled, and compares very favorably vs. traditional amination conditions. It has also been shown to successfully lead to key intermediates associated with several physiologically active compounds.

Abstract
Through targeted high-throughput experimentation (HTE), we have identified the Pd/AdBippyPhos catalyst system as an effective and general method to construct densely functionalized N,N-diaryl sulfonamide motifs relevant to medicinal chemistry. AdBippyPhos is particularly effective for the installation of heteroaromatic groups. Computational steric parametrization of the investigated ligands reveals the potential importance of remote steric demand, where a large cone angle combined with an accessible Pd center is correlated to successful catalysts for C-N coupling reactions.

Abstract
A general method is described for the coupling of (hetero)aryl bromides with O-alkyl sulfamate esters. The protocol relies on catalytic amounts of nickel and photoexcitable iridium complexes and proceeds under visible light irradiation at ambient temperature. This technology engages a broad range of simple and complex O-alkyl sulfamate ester substrates under mild conditions. Furthermore, it is possible to avoid undesirable N-alkylation, which was found to plague palladium-based protocols for N-arylation of O-alkyl sulfamate esters. These investigations represent the first use of sulfamate esters as nucleophiles in transition metal-catalyzed C-N coupling processes.

Abstract
The selective synthesis of mono-N-methyl aromatic amines was achieved by the reaction of aromatic nitroso compounds with methylboronic acid promoted by triethylphosphite under transition metal-free conditions. The target compounds are constructed efficiently without overmethylation, under environmentally benign reaction conditions that do not require bases or reductants and therefore are of interest in pharmaceutical, agricultural, and chemical industries.

Abstract
Over the past three decades, Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions have become a mainstay of organic synthesis. In particular, catalysts derived from biaryl monophosphines have shown wide utility in forming C-N bonds under mild reaction conditions. This work summarizes a variety of C-N cross-coupling reactions using biaryl monophosphines as supporting ligands, with the goal of directing synthetic chemists towards the ligands and conditions best suited for a particular coupling.
