Abstract
A hypervalent iodine-reagent-based C-H functionalization strategy was utilized to synthesize diaryl ethers. This method directly transforms various arenes into their corresponding diaryliodonium salts, followed by a C-O coupling reaction to produce structurally diverse diaryl ethers. The efficacy of this approach in the late-stage structural modifications of complex molecules was demonstrated.

Abstract
Super engineering plastics, high-performance thermoplastic resins such as polyetheretherketone, and polyphenylene sulfide have been utilized in industries, owing to their high thermal stability and mechanical strength. However, their robustness hinders their depolymerization to produce monomers and low-weight molecules. Presently, chemical recycling for most super engineering plastics remains relatively unexplored. Herein, we report the depolymerization of insoluble polyetheretherketone using sulfur nucleophiles via carbon-oxygen bond cleavages to form benzophenone dithiolate and hydroquinone. Treatment with organic halides converted only the former products to afford various dithiofunctionalized benzophenones. The depolymerization proceeded as a solid-liquid reaction in the initial phase. Therefore, this method was not affected by the shape of polyetheretherketone, e.g., pellets or films. Moreover, this depolymerization method was applicable to carbon- or glass fiber-enforced polyetheretherketone material. The depolymerized product, dithiofunctionalized benzophenones, could be converted into diiodobenzophenone, which was applicable to the polymerization.

Abstract
Bis-cyclometallated Ir(iii) complexes containing 2-(1H-pyrazol-3-yl)pyridine ligands have been synthesised. Their absorption is almost unchanged with changes in pH however the emission intensities vary by a factor of up to three and the complexes have emission pKas in the range 8.0 to 10.0. Substituents on the pyrazole have only a minor effect on the emission pKa. Surprisingly the complexes with phenylpyrazole cyclometallated ligands 3aL1-3 showed an intensity decrease with increasing pH (switch off) whilst the corresponding phenylpyridine ones 3cL1-3 showed an increase in emission intensity with increasing pH. Putting electron-withdrawing CF3 substituents on the cyclometallating phenyls reduced the pKa of the complexes to 6.8-7.8, thereby extending the useful pKa range; however, in general it tended to reduce the magnitude of the change in emission intensity. Surprisingly the CF3-substituted complexes also showed a complete reversal in the direction of the intensity change when compared to their respective unsubstituted congeners.

Abstract
The abundance of Cu-contaminated effluents and the serious risk of contamination of the aquatic systems combine to provide strong motivating factors to tackle this environmental problem. The treatment of polluted effluents by rhizofiltration and biosorption is an interesting ecological alternative. Taking advantage of the remarkable ability of the selected plants to bioconcentrate copper into roots, these methods have been exploited for the decontamination of copperrich effluents. Herein, we present an overview on the utility of the resulted copper-rich biomass for the preparation of novel bio-sourced copper-based catalysts for copper-mediated reactions: from the bioaccumulation of copper in plant, to the preparation and full analysis of the new Eco-Cu catalysts, and their application in selected key reactions. The hydrolysis of a thiophosphate, an Ullmanntype coupling leading to N- and O-arylated compounds, and a CuAAC “click” reaction, all performed under green and environmentally friendly conditions, will be described.

Abstract
CsF/clinoptilolite was found to be an efficient solid base catalyst for both SNAr and Ullmann ether reactions. A general and efficient one-step procedure was developed for the synthesis of biaryl ethers via direct coupling of electron-deficient aryl halides to phenols using CsF/clinoptilolite. The protocol was also applied to electron-rich aryl halides by addition of a catalytic amount of copper oxide nanoparticles. Both SNAr and Ullmann reactions were rapid and provided good to excellent yields.
