Abstract
Since the last century, we have witnessed the development of molecular magnetism which deals with magnetic materials based on molecular species, i.e., organic radicals and metal complexes. Among them, the broadest attention was devoted to molecule-based ferro-/ferrimagnets, spin transition materials, including those exploring electron transfer, molecular nanomagnets, such as single-molecule magnets (SMMs), molecular qubits, and stimuli-responsive magnetic materials. Their physical properties open the application horizons in sensors, data storage, spintronics, and quantum computation. It was found that various optical phenomena, such as thermochromism, photoswitching of magnetic and optical characteristics, luminescence, nonlinear optical and chiroptical effects, as well as optical responsivity to external stimuli, can be implemented into molecule-based magnetic materials. Moreover, the fruitful interactions of these optical effects with magnetism in molecule-based materials can provide new physical cross-effects and multifunctionality, enriching the applications in optical, electronic, and magnetic devices. This Review aims to show the scope of optical phenomena generated in molecule-based magnetic materials, including the recent advances in such areas as high-temperature photomagnetism, optical thermometry utilizing SMMs, optical addressability of molecular qubits, magneto-chiral dichroism, and opto-magneto-electric multifunctionality. These findings are discussed in the context of the types of optical phenomena accessible for various classes of molecule-based magnetic materials.

Abstract
This work reports (a) conglomerate and racemic crystal structures of [(Δ,Δ,Δ,Δ,Δ,Δ)- or/and (Λ,Λ,Λ,Λ,Λ,Λ)-EuIII 6(TTP)8(OH2)6Na4] n coordination polymers, (b) racemic crystal structures of (Δ,Δ,Δ,Δ)-/(Λ,Λ,Λ,Λ)-EuIII 4(TTP)4(bipy)4(MEK)2(OH2)2 tetrahedral clusters, and (c) the achiral crystal structure of the [EuIII 2(BTP)4(OH2)2Na2] n coordination polymer (where BTP = dianionic bis-β-diketonate, TTP = trianionic tris-β-diketonate, and bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine). The screw coordination arrangement of the TTP ligand has led to the formation of homoconfigurational racemic EuIII products. The conglomerate crystallization of [EuIII 6(TTP)8(OH2)6Na4] n appears to be caused by the presence of the sodium, Na+ counterions, and interactions between oxygen atoms and the trifluoromethyl unit of the TTP ligand and Na+ ions. All the EuIII compounds exhibit characteristic red luminescence (5D0 → 7FJ, J = 0-4) in solution or in the solid crystalline state. Circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) was observed in the chiral EuIII 6(TTP)8(OH2)6Na4] n species, displaying a |g lum| value in the range of 0.15 to 0.68 at the 5D0 → 7F1 emission band. Subtle changes of the [EuIII 6(TTP)8(OH2)6Na4] n structure which may be due to selection of twinned crystals or crystals that do not correspond to a perfect spontaneous resolution, are considered to be responsible for the variation in the observed CPL values.

Abstract
Octacyanidometallates have been successfully employed in the design of heterometallic coordination systems offering a spectacular range of desired physical properties with great potential for technological applications. The [M(CN)8]n- ions comprise a series of complexes of heavy transition metals in high oxidation states, including NbIV, MoIV/V, WIV/V, and ReV. Since the discovery of the pioneering bimetallic {MnII4[MIV(CN)8]2} and {MnII9[MV(CN)8]6} (M = Mo, W) molecules in 2000, octacyanidometallates were fruitfully explored as precursors for the construction of diverse d-d or d-f coordination clusters and frameworks which could be obtained in the crystalline form under mild synthetic conditions. The primary interest in [M(CN)8]n--based networks was focused on their application as molecule-based magnets exhibiting long-range magnetic ordering resulting from the efficient intermetallic exchange coupling mediated by cyanido bridges. However, in the last few years, octacyanidometallate-based materials proved to offer varied and remarkable functionalities, becoming efficient building blocks for the construction of molecular nanomagnets, magnetic coolers, spin transition materials, photomagnets, solvato-magnetic materials, including molecular magnetic sponges, luminescent magnets, chiral magnets and photomagnets, SHG-active magnetic materials, pyro- and ferroelectrics, ionic conductors as well as electrochemical containers. Some of these materials can be processed into the nanoscale opening the route towards the development of magnetic, optical and electronic devices. In this review, we summarise all important achievements in the field of octacyanidometallate-based functional materials, with the particular attention to the most recent advances, and present a thorough discussion on non-trivial structural and electronic features of [M(CN)8]n- ions, which are purposefully explored to introduce desired physical properties and their combinations towards advanced multifunctional materials.

Abstract
We report a unique synthetic route toward the multistep spin crossover (SCO) effect induced by utilizing the partial ligand transformation during the crystallization process, which leads to the incorporation of three different FeII complexes into a single coordination framework. The 3-acetoxypyridine (3-OAcpy) molecules were introduced to the self-assembled FeII-[MIV(CN)8]4- (M = Mo, Nb) system in the aqueous solution which results in the partial hydrolysis of the ligand into 3-hydroxypyridine (3-OHpy). It gives two novel isostructural three-dimensional {FeII2(3-OAcpy)5(3-OHpy)3[MIV(CN)8]}· nH2O (M = Mo, n = 0, FeMo; M = Nb, n = 1, FeNb) coordination frameworks. They exhibit an unprecedented cyanido-bridged skeleton composed of {Fe3M2} n coordination nanotubes bonded by additional Fe complexes. These frameworks contain three types of Fe sites differing in the attached organic ligands, [Fe1(3-OAcpy)4(μ-NC)2], [Fe2(3-OHpy)4(μ-NC)2], and [Fe3(3-OAcpy)3(3-OHpy)(μ-NC)2], which lead to the thermal two-step FeII SCO, as proven by X-ray diffraction, magnetic susceptibility, UV-vis-NIR optical absorption, and 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy studies. The first step of SCO, going from room temperature to the 150-170 K range with transition temperatures of 245(5) and 283(5) K for FeMo and FeNb, respectively, is related to Fe1 sites, while the second step, occurring at the 50-140 K range with transition temperatures of 70(5) and 80(5) K for FeMo and FeNb, respectively, is related to Fe2 sites. The Fe3 site with both 3-OAcpy and 3-OHpy ligands does not undergo the SCO at all. The observed two-step SCO phenomenon is explained by the differences in the ligand field strength of the Fe complexes and the role of their alignment in the coordination framework. The simultaneous application of two related pyridine derivatives is the efficient synthetic route for the multistep FeII SCO in the cyanido-bridged framework which is a promising step toward rational design of advanced spin transition molecular switches.

Abstract
Three types of N-heterocyclic aromatic acid decorated 3d-4f heterometallic Keggin-type tungstoantimonates: Na4[Ln(H2O)5]2[Fe4(H2O)2(pic)4(B-β-SbW9O33)2]·26H2O [Ln3+ = La3+ (1), Pr3+ (2), Nd3+ (3), Sm3+ (4), Eu3+ (5)], Na6H4[Fe2W4O9(H2O)2(Hpic)4 (B-β-SbW9O33)2][Ln(H2O)8]2[Fe4W2O7(H2O)4(pic)2(Hpic)2(B-β-SbW9O33)2]·38H2O [Ln3+ = Gd3+ (6), Dy3+ (7)], and Na2H2{[Ln(H2O)6]2[Fe4(H2O)2(Hpic)2(pic)2(B-β-SbW9O33)2]}2·44H2O [Ln3+ = Ho3+ (8), Er3+ (9), Hpic = 2-picolinic acid] have been prepared. 1-5 comprise a quadripic-inserted Krebs-type [Fe4(H2O)2(pic)4(B-β-SbW9O33)2]10- moiety supported by two [Ln(H2O)5]3+ groups on both sides where it can be considered that four pic ligands replace eight aqua ligands located on the original Krebs-type [Fe4(H2O)10(B-β-SbW9O33)2]10- fragment to form the [Fe4(H2O)2(pic)4(B-β-SbW9O33)2]10- moiety. Remarkably, the quadripic-inserted subunits are further concatenated through the coordination role of the pic ligands to create a 3-D heterometallic framework. In contrast, the molecular units of 6-7 contain two kinds of non-Krebs-type quadripic-inserted [Fe2W4O9(H2O)2(Hpic)4(B-β-SbW9O33)2]6- and {[Ln(H2O)8]2[Fe4W2O7(H2O)4(pic)2(Hpic)2(B-β-SbW9O33)2]}4- moieties. The molecular units of 8-9 contain two identical quadripic-inserted Krebs-type {[Ln(H2O)6]2[Fe4(H2O)2(Hpic)2(pic)2(B-β-SbW9O33)2]}2- moieties, and both display a 1-D heterometallic double chain. For all we know, 1-9 stand for the first 3d-4f heterometallic tungstoantimonate hybrids functionalized by pic ligands. Particularly, the solid-state NIR photoluminescence (PL) spectrum in the range of 800-1450 nm of 3 and the solid-state visible PL spectra in the range of 500-750 nm of 4, 5, 7, and 8 at room temperature display the featured fluorescence emission bands stemming from Ln3+ cations. In the PL emission procedures of 5 and 7, energy transfer from [B-β-SbW9O33]9- fragments and pic ligands to Ln3+ ions has been observed. Additionally, the correlated color temperatures of 4, 5, 7, and 8 are indexed to 2731, 2020, 4557, and 1685 K, respectively.

Abstract
This work demonstrates that ligand-to-ligand interactions between achiral bis-β-diketonate (BTP) and chiral bis(4-phenyl-2-oxazolinyl)pyridine [( R)- or ( S)-Ph-Pybox] are successfully directed to the fabrication of a D2-symmetrical alternating circular helicate with the general formula [( R)- or ( S)-Ph-Pybox]4(LnIII)4(BTP)6. The lanthanide(III) LnIII assemblies (LnIII4- RRRR and LnIII4- SSSS) have a nanometer-size squarelike grid (interatomic distances > 10 Å). X-ray structure analysis revealed that the circular helicate contains two double helicate LnIII2L2 units, where both show ( M)-helicity for LnIII4- RRRR and ( P)-helicity for LnIII4- SSSS, where π-π stacking interaction is present between the side arm of ( R)-Ph-Pybox (Ph1) and the adjacent BTP ligand around the EuIII metal center ( dππ = 3.636 Å: the diketonate plane···Ph1 distance). The newly obtained circular lanthanide(III) helicate exists as single and homochiral diastereomers in solution (LnIII4- RRRR and LnIII4- SSSS), exhibiting circularly dichroism (CD) and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL). Conversely, the circular helicate favors the heterochiral arrangement (i.e., LnIII4- RRRR/LnIII4- SSSS).

Abstract
Solid-state functional luminescent materials arouse an enormous scientific interest due to their diverse applications in lighting, display devices, photonics, optical communication, low energy scintillation, optical storage, light conversion, or photovoltaics. Among all types of solid luminophors, the emissive coordination polymers, especially those based on luminescent trivalent lanthanide ions, exhibit a particularly large scope of light-emitting functionalities, fruitfully investigated in the aspects of chemical sensing, display devices, and bioimaging. Here, we present the complete overview of one of the promising families of photoluminescent coordination compounds, that are heterometallic d–f cyanido-bridged networks composed of lanthanide(3+) ions connected through cyanide bridges with polycyanidometallates of d-block metal ions. We are showing that the combination of cationic lanthanide complexes of selected inorganic and organic ligands with anionic homoligand [M(CN)x]n− (x = 2, 4, 6 and 8) or heteroligand [M(L)(CN)4]2− (L = bidentate organic ligand, M = transition metal ions) anions is the efficient route towards the emissive coordination networks revealing important optical properties, including 4f-metal-centred visible and near-infrared emission sensitized through metal-to-metal and/or ligand-to-metal energy transfer processes, and multi-coloured photoluminescence switchable by external stimuli such as excitation wavelength, temperature, or pressure.

Abstract
The following iron(II) complexes of 2,6-bis(oxazolinyl)pyridine (PyBox; LH ) derivatives are reported: [Fe(LH )2 ][ClO4 ]2 (1); [Fe((R)-LMe )2 ][ClO4 ]2 ((R)-2; LMe =2,6-bis{4-methyloxazolinyl}pyridine); [Fe((R)-LPh )2 ][ClO4 ]2 ((R)-3) and [Fe((R)-LPh )((S)-LPh )][ClO4 ]2 ((RS)-3; LPh =2,6-bis{4-phenyloxazolinyl}pyridine); and [Fe((R)-LiPr )2 ][ClO4 ]2 ((R)-4) and [Fe((R)-LiPr )((S)-LiPr )][ClO4 ]2 ((RS)-4; LiPr =2,6-bis{4-isopropyloxazolinyl}pyridine). Solid (R)-3⋅MeNO2 exhibits an unusual very gradual, but discontinuous thermal spin-crossover with an approximate T1/2 of 350 K. The discontinuity around 240 K lies well below T1/2 , and is unconnected to a crystallographic phase change occurring at 170 K. Rather, it can be correlated with a gradual ordering of the ligand conformation as the temperature is raised. The other solid compounds either exhibit spin-crossover above room temperature (1 and (RS)-3), or remain high-spin between 5-300 K [(R)-2, (R)-4 and (RS)-4]. Homochiral (R)-3 and (R)-4 exhibit more twisted ligand conformations and coordination geometries than their heterochiral isomers, which can be attributed to steric clashes between ligand substituents [(R)-3]; or, between the isopropyl substituents of one ligand and the backbone of the other ((R)-4). In solution, (RS)-3 retains its structural integrity but (RS)-4 undergoes significant racemization through ligand redistribution by 1 H NMR. (R)-4 and (RS)-4 remain high-spin in solution, whereas the other compounds all undergo spin-crossover equilibria. Importantly, T1/2 for (R)-3 (244 K) is 34 K lower than for (RS)-3 (278 K) in CD3 CN, which is the first demonstration of chiral discrimination between metal ion spin states in a molecular complex.

Abstract
Coordination compounds built of trivalent lanthanide ions have been demonstrated as promising solid-state materials for diverse photoluminescent applications and as attractive magnetic objects with the prospective application in information storage and spintronics. We present a synthetic methodology in which both luminescent and magnetic functionalities are induced within lanthanide-based coordination polymers by the application of hexacyanocobaltate(III) anions and 3-hydroxypyridine (3-OHpy), both coordinated to 4f-metal ions modulating the lanthanide-centered properties. We report a series of trimetallic cyanido-bridged chains {[EuIIIxTbIII1-x(3-OHpy)2(H2O)4][CoIII(CN)6]}·H2O (x = 1, 0.8, 0.5, 0.4, 0.3, 0.2, 0.1, 0; compounds 1, 2, ..., 7, 8). They reveal tunable visible photoluminescence ranging from green, through yellow and orange, to red color depending on the composition of material and the wavelength of UV excitation light. Such multicolored emission is realized by the adjusted ratio between red emissive Eu3+ and green emissive Tb3+ and by the selection of wavelengths of UV light controlling the intensities of Eu- and Tb-based components of visible luminescence. The photoluminescence is enhanced by the energy-transfer (ET) process from [CoIII(CN)6]3- and 3-OHpy to lanthanides, and the efficiencies of ET to Eu and Tb play an important role in the switchable emission. The whole family, 1-8, exhibits temperature-dependent paramagnetism due to the intrinsic property of lanthanide(3+) ions. Tb-containing 2-8 reveal the field-induced slow relaxation of magnetization due to the magnetic anisotropy of Tb3+. Moreover, the compounds built of large amounts of Tb reveal the double relaxation, the faster of a typical TbIII single-ion origin, and the slower originating from the magnetic dipole-magnetic dipole interactions between neighboring TbIII centers. Compound 2, which can be considered as a magnetically diluted sample, exhibits almost single relaxation process with the thermal energy barrier ΔE/kB of 35.8(6) K and τ0 = 1.1(2) × 10-8 s at Hdc = 1500 Oe, indicating a single-molecule magnet behavior.
