Abstract
A halogen-substituted cyclic disilene compound, bromocyclotrisilene, Si3Br(Eind)3 (3a), bearing fused-ring bulky Eind (a: R1 = R2 = Et) groups, has been synthesized as an extraordinarily air-stable compound by the reduction of 1,2-dibromodisilene, (Eind)BrSi═SiBr(Eind) (2a), or tribromosilane, (Eind)SiBr3 (1a), with the Mg or Li metal. The X-ray diffraction analysis of 3a showed that the disilene moiety has an almost planar, but slightly trans-bent structure. Even though 3a is quite air-stable both in solutions and in the solid state, its Si-Br bond is reactive under reducing conditions. The further treatment of 3a with the Li metal leads to the formation of room-temperature thermally stable silicon homologues of the cyclopropyl radical, i.e., the cyclotrisilanyl radicals (6a) [6a(syn) and 6a(anti)], via intramolecular C-H bond activation in a transient silicon homologue of the cyclopropenyl radical, i.e., the cyclotrisilenyl radical, [Si3(Eind)3]• (5a). The formation mechanism of 6a from 5a is discussed based on the theoretical calculations. The unique structural and electronic properties of these Si3 three-membered ring species incorporating the Eind groups have been experimentally and theoretically investigated.

Abstract
The neutral three-coordinated imino(silyl)silyl radical was isolated from the reaction of N-heterocyclic iminosilicon tribromide (ItBuN-SiBr3) with NaSitBu2Me. The radical was fully characterized by X-ray crystallography and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy and supported by quantum chemical calculations.

Abstract
Treatment of 2,6-dimethyl-1,1'-biphenyl-substituted chlorosilane with potassium followed by FeBr2/TMEDA led to the formation of an iron(II) monobromide complex supported by a TMEDA ligand and a carbanion-based ligand containing a six-membered silacycle-bridged biphenyl skeleton. The obtained complex crystallized as a racemic mixture of (Sa, S) and (Ra, R) forms, in which the dihedral angle of the two phenyl rings of the biphenyl moiety was ∼43°.

Abstract
Due to their intrinsic high reactivity, isolation of heavier analogues of carbynes remains a great challenge. Here, we report the synthesis and characterization of a neutral monosubstituted Sn(I) radical (2) supported by a sterically hindered hydrindacene ligand, which represents the first tin analogue of a free carbyne. Different from all Sn(I/III) species reported thus far, the presence of a sole Sn-C σ bond in 2 renders the remaining two Sn 5p orbitals energetically almost degenerate, of which one is singly occupied and the other is empty. Consequently, its S = 1/2 ground state possesses two-fold orbital pseudo-degeneracy and substantial unquenched orbital angular momentum, as evidenced by one component of its g matrix (1.957, 1.896, and 1.578) being considerably less than 2. Consistent with this unique electronic structure, 2 can bind to an N-heterocyclic carbene to afford a neutral two-coordinate Sn(I) radical and initiate a one-electron transfer to benzophenone to furnish a Sn(II)-ketyl radical anion adduct. As a manifestation of its Sn-centered radical nature, 2 reacts with diphenyl diselenide and p-benzoquinone to form Sn-S and Sn-O bonds, respectively.

Abstract
The synthesis of persistent sila- and germacyclopentadienyl (silolyl- and germolyl-) radicals by careful stoichiometric reduction of the corresponding halides with potassium is reported. The radicals were characterized by EPR spectroscopy and trapping reactions. The reduction of tris(trimethylsilyl)silyl-substituted halides was successful while smaller substituents (i. e., t-Butyl, Ph) gave the corresponding dimers. The EPR spectroscopic parameter of the synthesized tetrolyl radicals indicate only small spin delocalization to the butadiene unit due to cross-hyperconjugation. Silolyl- and germolyl anions are unavoidable byproducts and are isolated in the form of their potassium salts and characterized by X-ray crystallography. The comparison of the molecular structures of two closely related potassium silolides provided an example for different coordination of the potassium cation to the silolyl anion (η1 vs. η5 coordination) that triggers the switch between delocalized and localized states.
