Abstract
The tris(1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)methane framework offers a highly versatile architecture for ligand design, yet the coordination chemistry of this class of ligand remains largely unexplored. We report here the synthesis and characterisation of the homoleptic complexes [M(ttzm)2](PF6)2 (ttzm = tris(1-benzyl-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)-p-anisolylmethane; M = Fe (Fe), Ru (Ru), Os (Os)). Initial attempts to prepare Ru by reaction of [Ru(p-cymene)Cl2]2 and ttzm also led to the isolation of the heteroleptic complex [Ru(p-cymene)(ttzm)](PF6)2. The structures of [Ru(p-cymene)(ttzm)](PF6)2, [Fe(ttzm)2]2+ (as its BPh4- salt) and Os were solved by X-ray diffraction. The homoleptic Fe(II) and Os(II) containing cations adopt distorted octahedral geometries due to the steric interactions between the ansiole and triazole rings of the ttzm ligands. The homoleptic complexes all adopt a low-spin d6 configuration and exhibit reversible M(II)/M(III) processes (+0.35 to +0.72 V vs. Fc/Fc+). These oxidation processes are cathodically shifted relative to those of related hexatriazole donor based complexes with density functional theory (DFT) calculations showing the metal d-orbitals are destabilised through a π-donor contribution from the triazole rings. The complexes all show prominent UV-visible absorption bands between 350 and 450 nm assigned to transitions of 1MLCT character. Whilst none of the homoleptic complexes are emissive in room temperature fluid solutions, Os is emissive at 77 K in an EtOH/MeOH glass (λmax 472 nm).

Abstract
The fine-tuning of intermolecular or intramolecular non-covalent interactions (NCIs) and thus the precise synthesis of metal complexes in which the spin states can be controlled by NCIs remains challenging, even though several such complexes have been intensively studied. In this regard, we present mononuclear cobalt(II) and iron(II) complexes with "click"-derived tripodal ligands that contain fluorinated benzyl substituents in the secondary coordination sphere. The complexes were co-crystallized with different solvent molecules to decipher the effect of the crystallized solvents on NCIs, and on the spin state of the metal ion. Additionally, the fluorine-specific interactions in the secondary coordination sphere were examined. We present a first structure-property correlation between the nature of interaction of the (per)fluorinated aromatic substituents on the ligand periphery, and the spin state of the metal complexes. In particular, the TF5TA containing ligand show interesting stacking motifs depending on the used solvent, and these interactions have an influence on the spin state of the cobalt(II) complexes. Furthermore, the iron(II) complex thereof, Fe(TF5TA)2(BF4)2·2EtOH displays spin crossover (SCO).

Abstract
Following the recent development of the one-pot two-step oxidation protocol for primary β-alkoxy alcohols, additional primary β-oxy alcohols were examined under similar conditions. The outcome of these reactions closely follows the migratory aptitudes of the related α-oxy-alkyls in Baeyer-Villiger oxidation vs. that of hydrogen. Thus, these experiments helped to establish the correct order of these aptitudes for α-oxy-alkyls. Furthermore, in the case of primary β,β-dialkoxyalcohols, the formation of dialkoxymethyl formates by the domino oxidation reaction was followed by secondary reactions, forming a number of interesting products.

Abstract
Three gold(i) tripodal complexes containing the tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine (TPA) ligand coordinated to Au-PR3 moieties (PR3 = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphatricyclo[3.3.1.13.7]decane, PTA (1), 3,7-diacetyl-1,3,7-triaza-5-phosphabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane, DAPTA (2) and triphenylphosphane (3)) were prepared together with a cage-like structure containing triphosphane 1,1,1-tris(diphenylphosphinomethyl)ethane (4). The luminescence of these complexes has been studied and they show a red shift upon the formation of heterometallic complexes by reaction with Zn(NO3)2, CuCl and [Cu(CH3CN)4]BF4. The different coordination motifs of the Zn2+ and Cu+ heterometallic species and the resulting changes in the recorded absorption, emission and NMR spectra were analysed and supported by TD-DFT calculations.

Abstract
The elucidation of magnetostructural correlations between bridging ligand substitution and strength of magnetic coupling is essential to the development of high-temperature molecule-based magnetic materials. Toward this end, we report the series of tetraoxolene-bridged FeII2 complexes [(Me3TPyA)2Fe2(RL)]n+ (Me3TPyA = tris(6-methyl-2-pyridylmethyl)amine; n = 2: OMeLH2 = 3,6-dimethoxy-2,5-dihydroxo-1,4-benzoquinone, ClLH2 = 3,6-dichloro-2,5-dihydroxo-1,4-benzoquinone, Na2[NO2L] = sodium 3,6-dinitro-2,5-dihydroxo-1,4-benzoquinone; n = 4: SMe2L = 3,6-bis(dimethylsulfonium)-2,5-dihydroxo-1,4-benzoquinone diylide) and their one-electron-reduced analogues. Variable-temperature dc magnetic susceptibility data reveal the presence of weak ferromagnetic superexchange between FeII centers in the oxidized species, with exchange constants of J = +1.2(2) (R = OMe, Cl) and +0.3(1) (R = NO2, SMe2) cm-1. In contrast, X-ray diffraction, cyclic voltammetry, and Mössbauer spectroscopy establish a ligand-centered radical in the reduced complexes. Magnetic measurements for the radical-bridged species reveal the presence of strong antiferromagnetic metal-radical coupling, with J = -57(10), -60(7), -58(6), and -65(8) cm-1 for R = OMe, Cl, NO2, and SMe2, respectively. The minimal effects of substituents in the 3- and 6-positions of RLx-• on the magnetic coupling strength is understood through electronic structure calculations, which show negligible spin density on the substituents and associated C atoms of the ring. Finally, the radical-bridged complexes are single-molecule magnets, with relaxation barriers of Ueff = 50(1), 41(1), 38(1), and 33(1) cm-1 for R = OMe, Cl, NO2, and SMe2, respectively. Taken together, these results provide the first examination of how bridging ligand substitution influences magnetic coupling in semiquinoid-bridged compounds, and they establish design criteria for the synthesis of semiquinoid-based molecules and materials.

Abstract
Semiquinoid radical bridging ligands are capable of mediating exceptionally strong magnetic coupling between spin centers, a requirement for the design of high-temperature magnetic materials. We demonstrate the ability of sulfur donors to provide much stronger coupling relative to their oxygen congeners in a series of dinuclear complexes. Employing a series of chalcogen donor-based bis(bidentate) benzoquinoid bridging ligands, the series of complexes [(TPyA)2Cr2(RL4-)]2+ (OLH4 = 1,2,4,5-tetrahydroxybenzene, OSLH4 = 1,2-dithio-4,5-dihydroxybenzene, SLH4 = 1,2,4,5-tetrathiobenzene, TPyA = tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine) was synthesized. Variable-temperature dc magnetic susceptibility data reveal the presence of weak antiferromagnetic superexchange coupling between CrIII centers in these complexes, with exchange constants of J = -2.83(3) (OL4-), -2.28(5) (OSL4-), and -1.80(2) (SL4-) cm-1. Guided by cyclic voltammetry and spectroelectrochemical measurements, chemical one-electron oxidation of these complexes gives the radical-bridged species [(TPyA)2Cr2(RL3-•)]3+. Variable-temperature dc susceptibility measurements in these complexes reveal the presence of strong antiferromagnetic metal-semiquinoid radical coupling, with exchange constants of J = -352(10) (OL3-•), - 401(8) (OSL3-•), and -487(8) (SL3-•) cm-1. These results provide the first measurement of magnetic coupling between metal ions and a thiosemiquinoid radical, and they demonstrate the value of moving from O to S donors in radical-bridged metal ions in the design of magnetic molecules and materials.

Abstract
The synthesis, characterization, and chiroptical properties of a new class of hemicryptophane cages combining a cyclotriveratrylene unit and a tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine (TPA) moiety are reported. Changing the linkers between these two units allows for the modification of the size and shape of the cavity. The synthesis is straightforward and efficient, providing gram-scale of cage compounds. The racemic mixture of each hemicryptophane host can be readily resolved by chiral HPLC, giving an easy access to the enantiopure molecular cages of which absolute configurations have been assigned by ECD spectroscopy. These new hemicryptophanes are available chemical platforms ready to use for various purposes due to the versatile metal complexation properties of the TPA unit. A Zn(II)@hemicryptophane complex has been obtained and used as a heteroditopic host for the selective recognition of zwitterionic guests.
