Abstract
We report an FeCl2-catalyzed annulation reaction between α-azido acetamides and cyclic ketones. Two types of α,β-unsaturated γ-lactam products can be obtained, depending on the reaction conditions. When α-azido acetamides were reacted with cyclohexanone, 8-amino-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-1H-indol-2(4H)-ones were obtained when a primary amine was present in the reaction system; conducting the reaction in the presence of 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid, on the contrary, resulted in the formation of 5,6-dihydro-1H-indol-2(4H)-ones. Cycloheptanone and cyclooctanone reacted in the same way as cyclohexanone. The reactions proceed via the intermediacy of 2-iminoacetamides, which are formed by FeCl2-facilitated dinitrogenation of α-azido acetamides. These reactions constitute a new strategy for expanding the synthetic dimensions of organic azides.

Abstract
γ-Lycorane, a degradation product of the Aromaticaceae alkaloid lycorine, is one of the most attractive molecules in the Aromaticaceae family. It remains a popular target for synthesis due to its pentacyclic structure, which presents a vehicle for demonstrating the utility of new synthetic strategies. Various synthetic methods have been developed by synthetic chemists since the first synthesis of γ-lycorane by Nasuo in 1966. Thus, this review presents an overview of the literature on the ways utilized within the synthesis of γ-lycorane in racemic and enantiopure forms via electrophilic arylation, Pd-catalyzed C-C coupling, Bischler-Napieralski cyclization, Pictet-Spengler cyclization, photocyclization, radical cyclization, chiral pool synthesis, chiral auxiliary-mediated synthesis, and catalytic asymmetric synthesis, ranging from 1966 to 2022.

Abstract
The total synthesis of (-)-γ-lycorane (10 steps) and synthesis of (±)-γ-lycorane (8 steps) was completed from cyclohexenone. A new two step hydrogen borrowing alkylation of an aziridinyl alcohol, coupled with a Ph* (Me5C6) deprotection/cyclisation procedure was developed for de novo formation of the fused 6,5 heterocyclic ring. This work is one of the first examples of hydrogen borrowing C-C bond formation being used as a key step in a total synthesis project.

Abstract
The first collectively asymmetric total synthesis of all members of lycorane, including (+)-α, (+)-β, (+)-γ, and (-)-δ, in a catalytic manner has been achieved. The cornerstone of this synthesis features an asymmetric, stereodivergent Ir/amine dual catalytic α-allylation of 2-phthalimidoacetaldehyde.

Abstract
Reactions are described for complexes of the form WTp(NO)(PMe3)(η2-arene) and various amines, where the arene is benzene or benzene with an electron-withdrawing substituent (CF3, SO2Ph, SO2Me). The arene complex is first protonated to form an η2-arenium species, which then selectively adds the amine. The resulting η2-5-amino-1,3-cyclohexadiene complexes can then be subjected to the same sequence with a second nucleophile to form 3-aminocyclohexene complexes, where up to three stereocenters originate from the arene carbons. Alternatively, 1,3-cyclohexadiene complexes containing an ester group at the 5 position (also prepared from an arene) can be treated with acid followed by an amine to form trisubstituted 3-aminocyclohexenes. When the amine is primary, ring closure can occur to form a cis-fused bicyclic γ-lactam. Highly functionalized cyclohexenes can be liberated from the tungsten through oxidative decomplexation. The potential utility of this methodology is demonstrated in the synthesis of the alkaloid γ-lycorane. An enantioenriched synthesis of a lactam precursor to γ-lycorane is also described. This compound is prepared from an enantioenriched version of the tungsten benzene complex. Regio- and stereochemical assignments for the reported compounds are supported by detailed 2D-NMR analysis and 13 molecular structure determinations (SC-XRD).

Abstract
The utility of acylals as building blocks for selective cross-benzoin synthesis was explored in this study. The synthesis of α-acetoxyketones (O-acyl cross-benzoins) was achieved via selective N-heterocyclic carbene-catalyzed cross-benzoin reactions using acylals as aldehyde equivalents. Thus, the combination of ortho-substituted phenyl acylals and aromatic/aliphatic aldehydes as coupling substrates using bicyclic triazolium salts as precatalysts and potassium carbonate as a base in THF at reflux temperature selectively yielded O-acyl cross-benzoins.

Abstract
Cross-coupling reactions are powerful synthetic tools for the formation of remarkable building blocks of many naturally occurring molecules, polymers and biologically active compounds. These reactions have brought potent transformations in chemical and pharmaceutical disciplines. In this review, we have focused on the use of cross-coupling reactions such as Suzuki, Negishi, Heck, Sonogashira and Stille in the total synthesis of some natural products of recent years (2016-2020). A short introduction of mentioned cross-coupling reactions along with highlighted aspects of natural products has been stated in separate sections. Additionally, few examples of natural products via incorporation of more than one type of cross-coupling reaction have also been added to demonstrate the importance of these reactions in organic synthesis.

Abstract
Palladium-catalyzed intramolecular tandem cyclization reactions were conducted for the synthesis of densely cis/cis-fused aza-tetracyclic structures. The process involved a palladium(II)-catalyzed aerobic aza-Wacker reaction, followed by a palladium(0)-catalyzed Heck reaction. The effects of the solvent and benzene substitution pattern on the one-pot, two-step cascade reaction were studied systematically, and a probable mechanism was proposed. Strained pentahydrobenzo[f]cyclopenta[hi]indolizin-6-one and racemic γ-lycorane can also be synthesized rapidly using this palladium-catalyzed aza-Wacker-Heck cyclization reaction.
