Abstract
The Suzuki-Miyaura Coupling (SMC) reaction is a powerful method for forming carbon-carbon bonds in organic synthesis. Recent advancements in SMC reactions have introduced first-row transition metal catalysts, with zinc garnering significant interest due to its cost-effective and eco-friendly nature. Despite progress in experimental protocols, the mechanistic details of zinc-catalyzed SMC reactions are limited. This study explores the mechanism of Zn-catalyzed SMC reactions between alkynyl halides and aryl boronic acids using density functional theory. A four-coordinated N,N'-dimethylethylenediamine (DMEDA) ligated Zn(II) complex is identified as the active catalyst. Unlike Pd-catalyzed SMC, the mechanism proceeds via an initial transmetalation process forming aryl zincates. Further, the activation of organic halide occurs through a redox-neutral pathway involving a concerted nucleophilic substitution-reductive elimination process, eliminating the cross-coupled product while regenerating the active catalyst. The energy span (27.2 kcal mol-1) for the process concords with the temperature requirements (80 °C) in the experiment. The activation of organic halide is identified as the turnover-limiting step. The unconventional redox-neutral mechanism could be rationalized by the stable d10 configuration at the Zn(II) center and the ease of bond formation between the coupling partners. This computational study thereby provides new mechanistic insights into Suzuki cross-coupling reactions, aiding the synthesis of novel functional scaffolds using eco-friendly methods.

Abstract
In contrast to its behavior in solution, the adduct [(LiBr)(tBu)(Ph)Bpin]- (pin=pinacol) transfers its phenyl anion from boron to lithium upon fragmentation in the gas phase. Quantum chemical calculations predict this exceptional transmetalation to be exothermic relative to the separated reactants, [(tBu)(Ph)Bpin]- and LiBr, which we attribute to the high phenyl-anion affinity of the coordinatively unsaturated LiBr unit. The addition of a single molecule of tetrahydrofuran drastically reduces the phenyl-anion affinity of LiBr and thereby renders the transmetalation from boron to lithium endothermic. Thus, the probed system highlights the importance of solvation and ligation effects in transmetalations. For correctly predicting the direction, in which these reactions proceed, it is not sufficient to consider the electronegativities or partial charges of the involved metals or metalloids. Instead, the individual coordination states and their changes over the course of the reaction must be taken into account.

Abstract
Easily accessible methods for direct C-H arylation of arenes have been explored in the presence of transition metal catalysts to facilitate C-C bond formation; however, the absence of transition-metal impurities is a significant concern in the preparation of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). Herein, we examine the use of bis(imino)acenaphthene (BIAN) as a potential single-electron transfer initiator in transition metal-free C-C bond-forming reactions. Using this approach, arenes are coupled to several aryl and heteroaryl halides. Based upon preliminary mechanistic evidence and crystallographic probation of an active initiator species, we tentatively propose a potassium-stabilized 'metal-free' radical pathway is in operation.

Abstract
β,γ-Unsaturated carbonyl compounds serve as versatile building blocks in organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry. Herein we reported the synthesis of β,γ-unsaturated carbonyl compounds from tetrafluoropyridine sulfides with vinyl halides. This cross-coupling reaction takes the advantage of photocatalysis, as well as zinc catalysis, which is preferred due to its less-toxic, earth abundant, and cost-effective nature.

Abstract
Chiral secondary organoboronic esters, when activated with t-butyllithium, are shown to undergo efficient stereoretentive transmetalation with either zinc acetate or zinc chloride. This reaction provides chiral secondary alkylzinc reagents that are configurationally stable under practical experimental conditions. The organozinc compounds were found to engage in stereospecific reactions with difluorocarbene, catalytic cross-couplings with palladium-based catalysts, and trifluoromethylation with a copper(III) complex. Mechanistic and computational studies shed light on the inner workings of the transmetalation event.

Abstract
Frustrated Lewis pairs (FLPs) have evolved from a revolutionary concept to widely applied catalysts. We recently reported the ring-expanded N-heterocyclic carbene supported copper(I) boryliminomethanide, (6-Dipp)CuC(=NtBu)Bpin and noted it reacted with heterocumulenes in a fashion reminiscent of FLPs. We thus set out to explore its reactivity with a range of other substrates known to react with FLPs. This was undertaken by a series of synthetic studies using NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, IR spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray crystallography. (6-Dipp)CuC(=NtBu)Bpin was investigated for its reactivity towards water, hydrogen, and phenylacetylene. Its solution stability was also explored. Upon heating, (6-Dipp)CuC(=NtBu)Bpin decomposed to (6-Dipp)CuCN, which was characterised by SC-XRD and NMR spectroscopy, and pinBtBu. Although no reaction was observed with hydrogen, (6-Dipp)CuC(=NtBu)Bpin reacted with water to form (6-Dipp)CuC(=N(H)tBu)B(OH)pin, which was structurally characterised. In contrast to its FLP-reminiscent heterolytic cleavage reactivity towards water, (6-Dipp)CuC(=NtBu)Bpin acted as a Brønsted base towards phenyl acetylene generating (6-Dipp)CuCCPh, which was characterised by SC-XRD, IR, and NMR spectroscopy, and HC(=NtBu)Bpin

Abstract
Copper-catalyzed stereospecific cross-couplings of boronic esters are reported. Boron "ate" complexes derived from pinacol boronic esters and tert-butyl lithium undergo stereospecific transmetalation to copper cyanide, followed by coupling with alkynyl bromides, allyl halides, propargylic halides, β-haloenones, hydroxylamine esters, and acyl chlorides. Through this simple transformation, commercially available inexpensive compounds can be employed to convert primary and secondary alkylboronic esters to a wide array of synthetically useful compounds.

Abstract
This work addresses the Suzuki cross-coupling between 4-bromoanisole (BrAn) and phenylboronic acid (PBA) in an environmentally benign ethanol-water solvent catalysed by mono- (Pd) and bimetallic (PdAu, PdCu, PdZn) nanoparticles (NPs) stabilised within hyper-cross-linked polystyrene (HPS) bearing tertiary amino groups. Small Pd NPs of about 2 nm in diameters were formed and stabilized by HPS independently in the presence of other metals. High catalytic activity and complete conversion of BrAn was attained at low Pd loading. Introduction of Zn to the catalyst composition resulted in the formation of Pd/Zn/ZnO NPs, which demonstrated nearly double activity as compared to Pd/HPS. Bimetallic core-shell PdAu/HPS samples were 3-fold more active as compared to Pd/HPS. Both Pd/HPS and PdAu/HPS samples revealed promising stability confirmed by catalyst recycling in repeated reaction runs.

Abstract
Selectivity of aryl iodo over ethynyl iodo toward the Suzuki cross coupling reaction is explored by utilizing a palladium complex of amino-ether heteroditopic macrobicycle. Subsequently, unreacted ethynyl iodide undergoes homocoupling reaction in the same catalytic atmosphere, thereby representing a cascade dual C-C coupling reaction. Furthermore, this approach is extended for novel one-pot synthesis of unsymmetrical 1,3-diynes.

Abstract
Nickel-catalyzed asymmetric cross-coupling of secondary alkyl electrophiles with different nucleophiles represents a powerful strategy for the construction of chiral tertiary carbon centers. Yet, the use of aryl Grignard reagents or aryl zinc halides in many reactions typically resulted in low enantioselectivity, mainly due to their slow transmetalation step in the catalytical cycle and consequently the requirement of relatively high temperature. Here we report that the use of lithium aryl zincate [Ph2ZnBr]Li facilitates the transmetalation step of the nickel-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction. Based on this discovery, a highly enantioselective construction of fluoroalkyl-substituted stereogenic center by a nickel-catalyzed asymmetric Suzuki-Miyaura coupling of α-bromobenzyl trifluoro-/difluoro-/mono- fluoromethanes with a variety of lithium aryl zincates [Ph2ZnBr]Li that were in situ generated from the reaction of lithium organoboronate with 1.0 equivalent of ZnBr2 was described. Fluoroalkyl groups are widely found in pharmaceutical products. Here, the authors report a highly enantioselective nickel-catalyzed cross coupling method for the construction of fluoromethylated stereogenic centers via a highly reactive zincate species facilitating the transmetalation step in the nickel catalytic cycle.

Abstract
A methyl group on an arene, despite its small size, can have a profound influence on biologically active molecules. Typical methods to form a methylarene involve strong nucleophiles or strong and often toxic electrophiles. We report a strategy for a new, highly efficient, copper and iodide co-catalyzed methylation of aryl- and heteroarylboronic esters with the mild, nontoxic reagent trimethylphosphate, which has not been used previously in coupling reactions. We show that it reacts in all cases tested in yields that are higher than those of analogous copper-catalyzed reactions of MeOTs or MeI. The combination of C-H borylation and this methylation with trimethylphosphate provides a new approach to the functionalization of inert C-H bonds and is illustrated by late-stage methylation of four medicinally active compounds. In addition, reaction on a 200 mmol scale demonstrates reliability of this method. Mechanistic studies show that the reaction occurs by a slow release of methyl iodide by reaction of PO(OMe)3 with iodide catalyst, rather than the typical direct oxidative addition to a metal center. The low concentration of the reactive electrophile enables selective reaction with an arylcopper intermediate, rather than nucleophilic groups on the arylboronate, and binding of tert-butoxide to the boronate inhibits reaction of the electrophile with the tert-butoxide activator to form methyl ether.

Abstract
A highly efficient silver-catalyzed dibenzylation of acetanilides by employing the benzhydrol derivatives as the coupling partners to yield triphenylmethane derivatives has been developed. Various functional groups were tolerated, leading to the corresponding products in moderate to good yields. Preliminary experimental results indicated that the silver ions activate the arene rings and the strong acid TfOH provides the carbocations.
