Dichloro-Cycloazatriphosphane: The Missing Link between N2 P2 and P4 Ring Systems in the Systematic Development of NP Chemistry

Au(I)-mediated N2-elimination from triazaphospholes: a one-pot synthesis of novel N2P2-heterocycles

Novel tosyl- and mesitylsulfonyl-substituted triazaphospholes were synthesized and structurally characterized. In an attempt to prepare the corresponding Au(I)-complexes with stoichiometric amounts of AuCl·S(CH₃)₂, cyclo-1,3-diphospha(III)-2,4-diazane-AuCl-complexes were obtained instead. Our here presented results offer a new strategy for preparing such coordination compounds selectively in a one-pot approach.

On the edge of the steric repulsion and reactivity of bulky anilines; a case study of chloro(imino)phosphine synthesis

2-Benzhydryl-4-methyl-6-(1,1'-diphenyl-2-phenyl-ethyl)aniline was prepared by a three-step process. 2,6-Bis(benzhydryl)-4-methyl-aniline was protected by Schiff coupling, then benzylated and finally dealkylated by using hydrochloric acid and methanol. The resulting compound exhibits one of the highest buried volumes around the nitrogen atom of anilines prepared so far, but it reacts with phosphorus trichloride and triethylamine to give a monomeric chloro(imino)phosphine.

Diastereoisomerically Pure, (S)-O-1,2-O-isopropyli dene-(5-O-α-d-glucofuranosyl) t-butanesulfinate: Synthesis, Crystal Structure, Absolute Configuration and Reactivity

The reaction of t-butylmagnesium chlorides with diastereomerically pure (R)-1,2-O-isopropylidene-3,5-O-sulfinyl-α-d-glucofuranose (R)-4 was found to be stopped at the stage of the corresponding, diastereoisomerically pure 1,2-O-isopropylidene-(5-O-α-d-glucofuranosyl) t-butanesulfinate (S)-10 for which the crystal structure and the (S)-absolute configuration was determined by X-ray crystallography. Comparison of the absolute configurations of the starting sulfite (R)-4, and t-butanesulfinate (S)-10 (which crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, space group P212121, with the single compound molecule present in the asymmetric unit), clearly indicates that the reaction of nucleophilic substitution at the stereogenic sulfur atom in the sulfite (R)-4 occurs with the full inversion of configuration via the trigonal bipyramidal sulfurane intermediate 4c in which both the entering and leaving groups are located in apical positions.

A Systematic Survey of the Reactivity of Chlorinated N2 P2 , NP3 and P4 Ring Systems

The reactivity of the four-membered NP₃ ring system [RN(μ-PCl)₂ PR] (R=Mes*=2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenyl) towards Lewis acids, Lewis bases, and reducing agents was investigated. Comparisons with the literature-known, analogous cyclic compounds [ClP(μ-NR)]₂ (R=Ter=2,6-dimesitylphenyl) and [ClP(μ-PR)]₂ (R=Mes*) are drawn, to obtain a better systematic understanding of the reactivity of cyclic NP species. Apart from experimental results, DFT computations are discussed to further the insight into bonding and electronic structure of these compounds.
