Abstract
This article addresses the impact of metal-ligand redox cooperativity on the functionalisation of coordinated ligands. It demonstrates the structure-reactivity correlation of bis(aldimine) derived bis-bidentate L (Py-CHN-(CH2)n-NCH-Py, with n = 2 (L1), 3 (L2), 4 (L3)) as a function of the conformation (syn/anti) of its alkylene linker as well as the overall structural form (cis/trans) of (acac)2RuII(μ-L)RuII(acac)2 complex moieties (1-5) possessing an electron-rich acetylacetonate (acac) co-ligand. A systematic variation of the bridging alkylene unit of L in RuII/RuII-derived 1-5 led to the following reactivity/redox events, which were validated through structural, spectroscopic, electrochemical and theoretical evaluations: (i) Cyclisation of the ethylene linked (syn conformation) bis-aldimine unit of L1 via C-C coupling yielded pyrazine bridged (acac)2RuII(μ-L1')RuII(acac)2, 1a, while the corresponding anti-form (ethylene linker) of the metal-bound L1 in 2 ((acac)2RuII(μ-L1)RuII(acac)2) led to oxygenation at the ligand backbone (bis-aldimine (L) → bis(carboxamido) (L'')) via O2 activation to generate RuIIIRuIII-derived (acac)2RuIII(μ-L1''2-)RuIII(acac)2 (2a). (ii) Consequently, propylene and butylene linked L2 and L3 bridged between two {Ru(acac)2} units in 3 and 4/5 underwent oxygenation of L to L'' to yield diruthenium(III) complexes 3a and 4a/5a, respectively. (iii) In contrast, analogous L bridged oxidised [(acac)2RuIII(μ-L)RuIII(acac)2](ClO4)2 ([2](ClO4)2-[5](ClO4)2) and [{(PPh3)2(CO)(H)RuII}2(μ-L)](ClO4)2 ([6](ClO4)2-[8](ClO4)2) involving electron poor co-ligands failed to undergo the oxygenation of L irrespective of its n value, reemphasising the effective role of redox interplay between RuII and L particularly in the presence of an electron-rich acac co-ligand in the functionalisation of the latter in 1a-5a.

Abstract
The self-assembly of three rheniumtricarbonyl core-based supramolecular coordination complexes (SCCs), fac-[Re(CO)3(μ-L)(μ-L')Re(CO)3] (1-3) was carried out using Re2(CO)10, rigid bis-chelating ligand (HO∩N-Ph-N∩OH (L1) (where HO∩N = 2-hydroxyphenylbenzimidazolyl), and flexible ditopic N-donor ligands (L2 = bis(3-((1H-benzoimidazol-1-yl)methyl)-2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)methane, L3 = bis(3-((1H-naphtho[2,3-d]imidazol-1-yl)methyl)-2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)methane, L4 = bis(4-(naphtho[2,3-d]imidazol-1-yl-methyl)phenyl)methane) via a one-pot solvothermal approach. In the solid state, the dinuclear SCCs adopt heteroleptic double-stranded helicate and meso-helicate architectures. The supramolecular structures of the complexes are retained in the solution based on the 1H NMR and electrospray ionization (ESI)-mass analysis. The spectral and photophysical properties of the complexes were studied both experimentally and using time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) calculations. All of the supramolecules exhibited emission in both solution and solid states. Theoretical studies were conducted to determine the chemical reactivity parameters, molecular electrostatic potential surface plots, natural population, and Hirshfeld analysis for complexes 1-3. Additionally, molecular docking studies were carried out for complexes 1-3 with B-DNA.

Abstract
A series of six new Cu(i) complexes with ([Cu(N-{4-R}pyridine-2-yl-methanimine)(PPh3)Br]) formulation, where R corresponds to a donor or acceptor p-substituent, have been synthesized and were used to study self-association effects on their structural and electrochemical properties. X-ray diffraction results showed that in all complexes the packing is organized from a dimer generated by supramolecular π stacking and hydrogen bonding. 1H-NMR experiments at several concentrations showed that all complexes undergo a fast-self-association monomer-dimer equilibrium in solution, while changes in resonance frequency towards the high or low field in specific protons of the imine ligand allow establishing that dimers have similar structures to those found in the crystal. The thermodynamic parameters for this self-association process were calculated from dimerization constants determined by VT-1H-NMR experiments for several concentrations at different temperatures. The values for K D (4.0 to 70.0 M-1 range), ΔH (-1.4 to -2.6 kcal mol-1 range), ΔS (-0.2 to 2.1 cal mol-1 K-1 range), and ΔG 298 (-0.8 to -2.0 kcal mol-1 range) are of the same order and indicate that the self-dimerization process is enthalpically driven for all complexes. The electrochemical profile of the complexes shows two redox Cu(ii)/Cu(i) processes whose relative intensities are sensitive to concentration changes, indicating that both species are in chemical equilibrium, with the monomer and the dimer having different electrochemical characteristics. We associate this behaviour with the structural lability of the Cu(i) centre that allows the monomeric molecules to reorder conformationally to achieve a more adequate assembly in the non-covalent dimer. As expected, structural properties in the solid and in solution, as well as their electrochemical properties, are not correlated with the electronic parameters usually used to evaluate R substituent effects. This confirms that the properties of the Cu(i) complexes are usually more influenced by steric effects than by the inductive effects of substituents of the ligands. In fact, the results obtained showed the importance of non-covalent intermolecular interactions in the structuring of the coordination geometry around the Cu centre and in the coordinative stability to avoid dissociative equilibria.

Abstract
We report two different approaches to isolate neutral and cationic mesocate-type metallosupramolecular architectures derived from coinage monovalent ions. For this purpose, we use a thiocarbohydrazone ligand, H2L (1), conveniently tuned with bulky phosphine groups to stabilize the MI ions and prevent ligand crossing to achieve the selective formation of mesocates. The neutral complexes [Cu2(HL)2] (2), [Ag2(HL)2] (3), and [Au2(HL)2] (4) were prepared by an electrochemical method, while the cationic complexes [Cu2(H2L)2](PF6)2 (5), [Cu2(H2L)2](BF4)2 (6), [Ag2(H2L)2](PF6)2 (7), [Ag4(HL)2](NO3)2 (8), and [Au2(H2L)2]Cl2 (9) were obtained by using a metal salt as the precursor. All of the complexes are neutral or cationic dinuclear mesocates, except the silver nitrate derivative, which exhibits a tetranuclear cluster mesocate architecture. The crystal structures of the neutral and cationic copper(I), silver(I), and gold(I) complexes allow us to analyze the influence of synthetic methodology or the counterion role on both the micro- and macrostructures of the mesocates.

Abstract
The paper documents redox-triggered C-C coupling of acyclic N,N'-bis(2-pyridylmethylene)ethylenediamine (BPE) to yield 2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine (DPP) upon coordination to an electron-rich {Ru(acac)2} (acac = acetylacetonate) unit. This led to DPP-bridged [{Ru(acac)2}2(DPP)]0/+ (2 and [2]ClO4) along with the unperturbed BPE-bridged [{Ru(acac)2}2(BPE)] (1). On the contrary, electron-poor {Ru(Cl)(H)(CO)(PPh3)3} yielded BPE-bridged [3](ClO4)2 as an exclusive product. Synergistic metal (Ru)-ligand (BPE) redox participation toward chemical noninnocence of the Schiff base ligand and DPP-mediated electronic communication in RuIIRuIII-derived [2]ClO4 are addressed.

Abstract
The intersection between Cu-catalyzed atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and organometallic mediated radical polymerization (OMRP) has been recently shown to be a result of competition between the CuI and CuII complexes of polyamine ligands for the same organic free radical. The tetradentate ligands N,N'-bis-2'-pyridylmethyl-ethane-1,2-diamine (L1) and N,N'-dimethyl-N,N'-bis-2'-pyridylmethyl-ethane-1,2-diamine (L2) form stable Cu complexes which, depending on their oxidation state, can either liberate or complex organic radicals. Herein, we show that this process may be affected by subtle changes to the ligand system. Switching from a tertiary amine (L2) to a secondary amine (L1) retains ATRP and OMRP activity through a series of cyclic voltammetry measurements in the presence of the initiator bromoacetonitrile.

Abstract
Time-resolved X-ray (tr-XAS) and optical transient absorption (OTA) spectroscopy in the picosecond time scale coupled with Density Functional theory (DFT) and X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) calculations are applied to study three homoleptic Cu(i) dimeric chromophores with ethyl and longer propyl spacers, denoted as [Cu2(mphenet)2]Cl2 (C1), [Cu2(mphenet)2](ClO4)2 (C2) and [Cu2(mphenpr)2](ClO4)2 (C3) (where mphenet = 1,2-bis(9-methyl-1,10-phenanthrolin-2-yl)ethane and mphenpr = 1,3-bis(9-methyl-1,10-phenanthrolin-2-yl)propane). Tr-XAS analysis after light illumination at ∼ 100 ps illustrate the formation of a flattened triplet excited state in all 3 complexes. Optical transient absorption (OTA) analysis for C1 monitored in water and C2 and C3 measured in acetonitrile reveals distinct excited-state lifetimes of 169 ps, 670 ps and 1600 ps respectively. These differences are associated to changes in the solvent (comparing C1 and C2) and the flexibility of the ligand to adapt after Cu flattening upon excitation (C2 and C3). Our results are important for the improved structural dynamics of these types of Cu-based dimeric compounds, and can guide the integration of these chromophores into more complex solar energy conversion schemes.

Abstract
The relation between redox activity and coordination geometry in CuIN4 complexes indicates that more flattened structures tend to be more reactive. Such a preorganization of the ligand confers to the complex geometries closer to a transition state, which has been termed the "entatic" state in metalloproteins, more recently extending this concept for copper complexes. However, many aspects of the redox chemistry of CuI complexes cannot be explained only by flattening. For instance, the role of ligand flexibility in this context is an open debate nowadays. To analyze this point, we studied oxidation properties of a series of five monometallic CuI Schiff-base complexes, [CuI(Ln)]+, which span a range of geometries from a distorted square planar (n = 3) to a distorted tetrahedron (n = 6, 7). This stepped control of the structure around the CuI atom allows us to explore the effect of the flattening distortion on both the electronic and redox properties through the series. Experimental studies were complemented by a theoretical analysis based on density functional theory calculations. As expected, oxidation was favored in the flattened structures, spanning a broad potential window of 370 mV for the complete series. This orderly behavior was tested in the reductive dehalogenation reaction of tetrachloroethane (TCE). Kinetic studies show that CuI oxidation by TCE is faster as the flattening distortion is higher and the oxidation potentials of the metal are lower. However, the most reactive complex was not the more planar, contradicting the trend expected from oxidation potentials. The origin of this irregularity is related to ligand flexibility and its connection with the atom/electron transfer reaction path, highlighting the need to consider effects beyond flattening distortion to better understand the reactivity of this important class of complexes.
