Abstract
As an emerging type of microporous inorganic-organic hybrid material, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have become more and more universal in various application fields. Preparing high-performance MOF materials by a simple method has always been the pursuit of synthetic chemists and materials scientists. Recently, a new technique of so-called "soft spray", where the atomized droplets of one reactant solution are sprayed onto the surface of the other reactant solution at a slow speed, has been developed to fabricate MOF-based materials, such as nanoparticles, thin films, and hybrids. This Perspective aims at summarizing the latest research progress of the preparation of MOF-based materials by the soft spray technique, discussing the possible mechanism, highlighting its powerful controllability in the morphological structure, and exhibiting great promise as a simple, efficient, and scalable technique.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are porous coordination polymers with interesting structural frameworks, properties, and a wide range of applications. A novel 3D cadmium(II)-carboxylate framework, CdMOF ([Cd2(L)(DMF)(H2O)2]n), was synthesized by the solvothermal method using a tetracarboxylic bridging linker having amide functional moieties. The CdMOF crystal structure exists in the form of a 3D layer structure. Based on the single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies, the supramolecular assembly of CdMOF is explored by Hirshfeld surface analysis. The voids and cavities analysis is performed to check the strength of the crystal packing in CdMOF. The CdMOF followed a multistage thermal degradation pattern in which the solvent molecules escaped around 200 °C and the structural framework remained stable till 230 °C. The main structural framework collapsed (>60 wt.%) into organic volatiles between 400–550 °C. The SEM morphology analyses revealed uniform wedge-shaped rectangular blocks with dimensions of 25–100 μm. The catalytic activity of CdMOF for the solvent and cocatalyst-free cycloaddition of CO2 into epichlorohydrin was successful with 100% selectivity. The current results revealed that this 3D CdMOF is more active than the previously reported CdMOFs and, more interestingly, without using a co-catalyst. The catalyst was easily recovered and reused, having the same performance.

Abstract
Pore environment modulation with polarizing groups is one of the essential prerequisites for selective carbon dioxide (CO2) adsorption in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), wherein judicious installation of the photocatalytic feature can promise visible light-triggered degradation of toxic organic dye molecules. However, astute amalgamation of both these attributes over a single MOF is rather rare, yet much anticipated in view of sustainable applications. Pore engineering is effectively harnessed in a Zn(II)-based three-dimensional (3D) MOF, CSMCRI-16 (CSMCRI = Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute), through mixed-ligand assembly of a N-rich linker (L), 4,4'-oxybis(benzoic acid) (H2oba) ligand, and [Zn2(CO2)4N2] paddle-wheel secondary building units (SBUs). The noninterpenetrated structure contains unbound nitrogen and accessible oxygen atom-decorated porous channels and exhibits admirable stability in diverse organic solvents, open air, and at elevated temperatures. The heteroatom-decorated porous channels facilitated excellent CO2 uptake in the activated MOF (16a) with high selectivity over N2 (CO2/N2: 155.3) at 273 K. The framework further exhibits reasonable CO2 affinity and multicyclic CO2 sorption recurrence without a significant loss in the uptake capacity. Benefitting from the presence of the [Zn2(CO2)4N2] cluster in conjugation with π-conjugated organic ligands, the extended 3D network revealed an optical band gap energy of 2.55 eV, which makes the MOF an efficient photocatalyst toward the degradation of the cationic dyes crystal violet (CV) and methylene blue (MB) in the presence of a simple 40 W visible light lamp without any assistance of external oxidants. The catalyst exhibits multicyclic performance and short reaction time in addition to the fact that catalytic efficiencies (CV: 97.2%, MB: 97.8%) are comparable to those of contemporary materials.

Abstract
The development of heterogeneous catalysts for promoting epoxide cycloaddition with carbon dioxide is highly desirable for recycling CO2 and achieving the goal of carbon neutrality. Herein, we designed and synthesized Zr-based metal organic frameworks (MOFs) by implanting functional guanidyl into the framework via mixing different molar ratios of 4-guanidinobenzoic acid (Gua) with 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid (BDC). Consequently, a small sized Zr-MOF (∼350 nm) can be prepared by implanting Gua with 20% molar ligands, denoted as UiO-66-Gua0.2(s). Compared to large sized and different guanidyl Zr-MOFs, UiO-66-Gua0.2(s) exhibited an optimal activity on catalyzing epoxide cycloaddition with CO2 in the presence of the Bu4NBr cocatalyst. A yield of 97% for the product of chloropropene carbonate was achieved at 90 °C under 1 atm CO2. The great performance of UiO-66-Gua0.2(s) might be attributed to the synergistic effect of guanidyl groups as hydrogen-bond donors and Zr centers acting as Lewis-acidic sites. In addition, the heterogeneous catalyst of UiO-66-Gua0.2(s) exhibited a great versatility towards converting other epoxides and a satisfactory recyclability for five consecutive runs. Moreover, a plausible reaction mechanism has been proposed for UiO-66-Gua0.2(s) in promoting CO2 epoxide cycloaddition reactions.

Abstract
Two luminescent Cd(II)-organic frameworks [Cd2(L1)(tdc)2(H2O)]n (1) and [Cd(L2)0.5(tdc)]n (2) (L1 = 1,5-bis(1-(pyridine-4-ylmethyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)pentane, L2 = 1,6-bis(1-(pyridine-4-ylmethyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)hexane, and H2tdc = 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylic acid) were hydrothermally synthesized and characterized. 1 displays a rare binodal (3,4)-connected 2D cem-d network, while 2 exhibits a 3D mog (moganite) framework. The two MOFs are highly thermally durable and water-stable in a wide pH range from 3 to 12. Interestingly, 1 and 2 represent the first reported examples of multi-responsive probes based on MOFs for selectively detecting levofloxacin, benzaldehyde, and Fe3+ ions with reusability. The luminescence sensing mechanisms of the two CPs were explored in detail.

Abstract
On the basis of the global warming effect, it is of great significance to convert CO2 into the high value-added products oxazolidinones, but investigations on main-group-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as heterogeneous catalysts still have not been reported so far. In this work, a quadruple-interpenetrated porous indium-based MOF, {[NH2(CH3)2][In(CPT)2]·3CH3CN·3DMA}n (1), is constructed from the organic ligand 3,5-bis(4'-carboxyphenyl)-1,2,4-triazole through solvothermal reactions, and N2 adsorption proves that the framework has a high Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface areas with 2024 m2/g. The catalytic research on CO2 conversion reveals that compound 1 has high reactivity for the cycloaddition of CO2 with aziridines, and the product 3-ethyl-5-phenyloxazolidin-2-one can be obtained with a yield of 99% under mild conditions. In addition, 1 exhibits excellent activity for different kinds of substrates and can be reused at least five cycles without any significant deactivation, suggesting that 1 is a potential candidate for the chemical conversion of CO2 and aziridines. Mechanistic explorations indicate that the high efficiency of 1 is attributed to the indium center in the framework as a Lewis acid site, and the large porosity can enrich substrates. Importantly, 1 behaved as the first main-group MOF-based catalyst in the reported coupling reaction of CO2 with aziridines.

Abstract
Crystalline porous materials (CPM)-200-In and CPM-200-In/Mg metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) were synthesized by a solvothermal method and were characterized by using powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), FT-IR, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET), temperature programmed desorption (TPD), TGA, XPS, and SEM-EDS. They were used as heterogeneous catalysts for the cycloaddition of CO2 with epoxides and found to be highly efficient toward the cycloaddition reaction at moderate reaction conditions under solvent-free conditions. The catalyst was easily separated by a simple filtration and can be reused up to five consecutive times without any considerable decrease of its initial activity. CPM-200-In/Mg showed excellent catalytic performance in the cycloaddition reaction due to the synergistic role of the acidic sites and basic sites. A plausible reaction mechanism for the CPM-200-In/Mg MOF catalyzed cycloaddition reaction is proposed based on the experimental results and our previously reported DFT (Density Functional Theory) studies.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been used in adsorption, separation, catalysis, sensing, photo/electro/magnetics, and biomedical fields because of their unique periodic pore structure and excellent properties and have become a hot research topic in recent years. Ball milling is a method of small pollution, short time-consumption, and large-scale synthesis of MOFs. In recent years, many important advances have been made. In this paper, the influencing factors of MOFs synthesized by grinding were reviewed systematically from four aspects: auxiliary additives, metal sources, organic linkers, and reaction specific conditions (such as frequency, reaction time, and mass ratio of ball and raw materials). The prospect for the future development of the synthesis of MOFs by grinding was proposed.

Abstract
A three-dimensional porous 3d-4f heterometallic organic framework, namely, {[Eu3(Cu4I4)3(INA)9(DMF)4]·3DMF}n (YNU-2), was successfully prepared under solvothermal conditions. There are two different one-dimensional metal chains in the structure, namely, Cu4I4 and EuIII-based chains, resulting in an excellent stability of the prepared sample. A N2 sorption isotherm at 77 K revealed that the activated sample exhibits a Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area of 371 m2 g-1, while, YNU-2 can adsorb obviously higher CO2 amounts than CH4 at 273 K and 298 K under 1 atm because of the stronger interaction force between CO2 and the porous skeleton. Furthermore, YNU-2 is highly efficient heterogeneous catalyst for chemical fixation of the CO2 and epoxides into cyclic carbonates with a preferable recyclability. Taking into account its excellent stability, the prepared sample can be used to construct an electrochemical adapter sensor for detecting cocaine with a detection limit of 0.27 pg mL-1 in the wide range of 0.001-0.5 ng mL-1.

Abstract
A novel coordination polymer (CP) was constructed using 1,3-bis(4-carboxyphenoxy) propane (H2bcp), 1,4-bis(1-imidazol-yl)-2,5-dimethyl benzene (bimb), and NiII ions. [Ni(bcp)(bimb)]·H2O]n (1) shows an interesting 2D+2D → 3D inclined polyrotaxane topology. The structure was characterised by many methods. This work indicates that the flexible and neutral pyridine ligand plays a significant role in constructing CPs. Furthermore, 1 is a highly efficient catalyst for the reaction of CO2 and epoxides.

Abstract
Nanosized metal-organic frameworks (nanoMOFs) MIL-100(Fe) are highly porous and biodegradable materials that have emerged as promising drug nanocarriers. A challenging issue concerns their surface functionalization in order to evade the immune system and to provide molecular recognition ability, so that they can be used for specific targeting. A convenient method for their coating with tetraethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, and mannose residues is reported herein. The method consists of the organic solvent-free self-assembly on the nanoMOFs of building blocks based on β-cyclodextrin facially derivatized with the referred functional moieties, and multiple phosphate groups to anchor to the nanoparticles' surface. The coating of nanoMOFs with cyclodextrin phosphate without further functional groups led to a significant decrease of macrophage uptake, slightly improved by polyethylene glycol or mannose-containing cyclodextrin phosphate coating. More notably, nanoMOFs modified with tetraethylene glycol-containing cyclodextrin phosphate displayed the most efficient "stealth" effect. Mannose-coated nanoMOFs displayed a remarkably enhanced binding affinity towards a specific mannose receptor, such as Concanavalin A, due to the multivalent display of the monosaccharide, as well as reduced macrophage internalization. Coating with tetraethylente glycol of nanoMOFs after loading with doxorubicin is also described. Therefore, phosphorylated cyclodextrins offer a versatile platform to coat nanoMOFs in an organic solvent-free, one step manner, providing them with new biorecognition and/or "stealth" properties.
