Abstract
Chiral 1,2-bis(2,5-diphenylphospholano)ethane (Ph-BPE) is a class of optimal organic bisphosphine ligands with C2-symmetry. Ph-BPE with its excellent catalytic performance in asymmetric synthesis has attracted much attention of chemists with increasing popularity and is growing into one of the most commonly used organophosphorus ligands, especially in asymmetric catalysis. Over two hundred examples have been reported since 2012. This review presents how Ph-BPE is utilized in asymmetric synthesis and how powerful it is as a chiral ligand or even a catalyst in a wide range of reactions including applications in the total synthesis of bioactive molecules.

Abstract
A protocol was developed to construct five- to seven-membered cyclic nitrones through the gold-catalyzed 1,3-azaprotio transfer of allenyloximes under photoirradiation. The photoisomerization of oximes was suggested to convert the inert stereoisomer to a reactive one. This photodriven and gold-catalyzed ring formation could be further extended to the thermodynamically stable aryl ketoximes with an E-configuration, which previously displayed chemical inertness in the absence of light irradiation.

Abstract
The enantio- and chemoselective iridium-catalyzed N-allylation of oximes is described for the first time. Intramolecular kinetic resolution provides access to cyclic nitrones and enantioenriched aliphatic allylic alcohols. Salient features of this transformation are its ability to employ E/Z-isomeric mixtures of oxime starting materials convergently and high functional group tolerance. The implementation of N-allylation/1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction sequences furnishes tricyclic isoxazolidines in highly enantio- and diastereoselective fashion. The synthetic utility of the approach is demonstrated by the efficient, formal synthesis of the marine natural product (+)-halichlorine.
