Abstract
Chiral amines are key structural motifs present in a wide variety of natural products, drugs, and other biologically active compounds. During the past decade, significant advances have been made with respect to the enantioselective synthesis of chiral amines, many of them based on catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation (AH). The present review covers the use of AH in the synthesis of chiral amines bearing a stereogenic center either in the α, β, or γ position with respect to the nitrogen atom, reported from 2010 to 2020. Therefore, we provide an overview of the recent advances in the AH of imines, enamides, enamines, allyl amines, and N-heteroaromatic compounds.

Abstract
A nickel-catalyzed enantioselective transfer hydrogenation and deuteration of N-sulfonyl imines was developed. Excellent α-selectivity and high deuterium content were achieved by using inexpensive 2-propanol-d8 as a deuterium source. As a highlight, no deuteration of β-C-H and the remote C-H of N-sulfonyl amines occurred, which is hard to achieve using other imines or by hydrogen isotope exchange with D2O. Mechanism studies indicated a stepwise pathway through the [Ni-D] intermediate.

Abstract
A cyclometalating N-heterocyclic carbene iridium complex featuring metal-centered chirality was designed and used for the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation (ATH) of imines. Four strongly σ-donating carbon-based substituents (2 carbenes and 2 phenyl moieties), a chirality transfer directly from the stereogenic metal center to the C[double bond, length as m-dash]N bond of substrates, as well as a restriction of catalyst deactivation by steric demanding substituents, render the new complex one of the most efficient catalysts for ATH of cyclic N-sulfonylimines (down to 0.01 mol% cat., 24 examples, 94-98% ee).

Abstract
The organometallic approach is one of the most active topics in catalysis. The application of NH functionality in organometallic catalysis has become an important and attractive concept in catalyst design. NH moieties in the modifiers of organometallic catalysts have been shown to have various beneficial functions in catalysis by molecular recognition through hydrogen bonding to give catalyst-substrate, ligand-ligand, ligand-catalyst, and catalyst-catalyst interactions. This Review summarizes recent progress in the development of the organometallic catalysts based on the concept of cooperative catalysis by focusing on the NH moiety.
