Abstract
A water-mediated proton-conducting Eu(iii)-MOF has been synthesized, which provides a stable proton transport channel that was confirmed by theoretical calculation. The investigation of proton conduction shows that the conductivity of Eu(iii)-MOF obtained at 353 K and 98% RH is 3.5 × 10-3 S cm-1, comparable to most of the Ln(iii)-MOF based proton conductors.

Abstract
A new flexible triazine-based polycarboxylate coordination polymer, {[Co3(H3TTHA)2(4,4'-bipy)5(H2O)8]·12H2O}n (1), where H6TTHA = 1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triamine hexaacetic acid, has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and structurally characterized by infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, TGA, XRD and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. Structural analysis indicates that 1 displays a planar structure with alternate rectangular structures of 22.695 × 11.485 Å2. The investigation of water vapor adsorption shows that the adsorption capacity of 1 is comparable to that of the typical adsorption material of MCM-41 with 73.86% (41.03 mmol g-1) water uptake at 90% relative humidity (RH). Based on the resistance to water and high-density hydrophilic units as well as abundant hydrogen-bonding networks in the complex, the proton conductivities of 1 under different conditions were measured. The results indicate that the proton conductivity values are highly temperature and relative humidity dependent, with the highest conductivity of nearly 10-3 S cm-1 at 353 K and 98% RH. The Arrhenius activation energy derived in the wide temperature range of 293-353 K is 0.32 eV, corresponding to a typical Grotthuss mechanism.

Abstract
Three novel coordination compounds based on α,α-disubstituted analogues of zoledronic acid with a cyclopropane (cpp) or cyclobutane (cbt) ring on the Cα carbon, isomorphous [Co(H2cppZol)(H2O)]·H2O (1a), [Ni(H2cppZol)(H2O)]·H2O (1b) and [Co(H2cbtZol)(H2O)]·H2O (2a), were synthesized under hydrothermal conditions at low pH. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that all the compounds had a 1D double zig-zag chain architecture with an 8 + 8 ring motif formed by alternately arranged symmetrical (-O-P-O-)2 bridges linking equivalent octahedral metal centres. Both the ligand coordination mode and chain architecture displayed by 1a, 1b and 2a are unique among 1D [M(H2L)(H2O) x ]·yH2O coordination polymers based on nitrogen-containing bisphosphonates reported so far. All the compounds exhibit similar decomposition pathways upon heating with thermal stabilities decreasing in the order 1b > 1a > 2a. The IR spectra revealed that lattice water release above 227, 178 and 97 °C, respectively, does not change the chain architecture leaving them intact up to ca. 320, 280 and 240 °C. Magnetic behaviour investigations indicated that 1a, 2a and 1b exhibit weak alternating antiferromagnetic-ferromagnetic exchange interactions propagated between the magnetic centres through double (-O-P-O-)2 bridges. The boundary between antiferro- and ferromagnetic couplings for the Co-O⋯O-Co angle in 1a and 2a was estimated to be ca. 80°. This value is also applicable for recently reported [M3(HL)2(H2O)6]·6H2O (M = Co, Ni) complexes based on α,α-disubstituted analogues of zoledronic acid and can be used to the explain magnetic behaviour of 1b.

Abstract
The reaction of copper(ii) chloride with 2-carboxyphenylphosphonic acid (2-cppH3) under hydrothermal conditions at 100 °C results in the formation of a polar compound, Cu3(2-cpp)2(H2O)5 (1), which shows large dielectric anisotropy. A similar reaction at 140 °C results in a centrosymmetric phase, Cu3(2-cpp)2(H2O)2 (2). Compound 1 can convert into 2 upon increasing the reaction temperature under hydrothermal conditions, and further to Cu3(2-cpp)2 (3) upon thermal treatment at 240 °C. This process is accompanied by a switch from ferromagnetic in 1 to antiferromagnetic interactions in 2 and 3.

Abstract
AbstractDivalent metal phosphonates are promising hybrid materials with a broad field of application. The rich coordination chemistry of the phosphonate linkers enables the formation of structures with different dimensionalities ranging from isolated complexes and layered structures to porous frameworks incorporating various functionalities through the choice of the building blocks. In brief, metal phosphonates offer an interesting opportunity for the design of multifunctional materials. Here, we provide a short review on the class of divalent metal phosphonates discussing their syntheses, structures, and applications. We present the advantages of the recently introduced mechanochemical pathway for the synthesis of divalent phosphonates as a possibility to generate new, in certain cases metastable compounds. Abstract
A series of new alkaline-earth metal diphosphonate frameworks were successfully synthesized under solvothermal reaction condition (160 °C, 3 d) using 1-hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid (CH3C(OH)(H2PO3)2, hedpH4) as a diphosphonate building block and Mg(II), Ca(II), Sr(II), or Ba(II) ions as alkaline-earth metal ion centers in water, dimethylformamide, and/or EtOH media. These diphosphonate frameworks, (H2NMe2)4[Mg(hedpH2)3]·3H2O (1), (H2NMe2)2[Ca(hedpH2)2] (2), (H2NMe2)2[Sr3(hedpH2)4(H2O)2] (3), and [Ba3(hedpH2)3]·H2O (4) exhibited interesting structural topologies (zero-, one-, two-, and three-dimensional (0D, 1D, 2D, and 3D, respectively)), which are mainly depending on the metal ions and the solvents used in the synthesis. The single-crystal analysis of these newly synthesized compounds revealed that 1 was a 0D molecule, 2 has 1D chains, 3 was a 3D molecule, and 4 has 2D layers. All compounds were further characterized using thermogravimetric analysis, solid-state (31)P NMR, powder X-ray diffraction analysis, UV-vis spectra, and infrared spectroscopy. In addition, Eu(III)- and Tb(III)-doped compounds of 1-4, namely, (H2NMe2)4[Ln(x)Mg(1-x)(hedpH2)2(hedpH(2-x))]·3H2O (1Ln), (H2NMe2)2[Ln(x)Ca(1-x)(hedpH2)(hedpH(2-x))] (2Ln), (H2NMe2)2[Ln(x)Sr(3-x)(hedpH2)3(hedpH(2-x))(H2O)2] (3Ln), and [Ln(x)Ba(3-x)(hedpH2)2(hedpH(2-x))]·H2O (4Ln) (where Ln = Eu, Tb), were synthesized, and their photoluminescence properties were studied. The quantum yield of 1Eu-4Eu was measured with reference to commercial red phosphor, Y2O2S:Eu(3+) (YE), and the quantum yield of terbium-doped compounds 1Tb-4Tb was measured with reference to commercial green-emitting phosphor CeMgAl10O17:Tb(3+). Interestingly, the compound 2Eu showed very high quantum yield of 92.2%, which is better than that of the reference commercial red phosphor, YE (90.8%).

Abstract
This Paper reports the first examples of O-P-O bridged Mn2(salen)2 (salen = N,N'-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine) chain compounds, namely, [Mn2(salen)2(2-FC6H4PO3H)](ClO4)·1/2CH3OH (1) and [Mn2(salen)2(4-FC6H4PO3H)](ClO4) (2). The phosphonate ligands adopt a syn-anti bidentate bridging mode in 1 and a syn-syn bidentate bridging mode in 2, originated from the isomeric phosphonate ligands. The different bridging modes cause a significant change in the Mn-O···O-Mn torsion angle over the O-P-O bridge, which are 96.6 and 1.9° for 1 and 2, respectively. As a result, the antiferromagnetic (AF) exchange couplings mediated through the O-P-O pathway are extremely weak in 1, and the overall magnetic behaviors are dominated by the Mn2(salen)2 moieties. Single-molecule magnetic behavior is observed in 1. For compound 2, the AF interaction over the O-P-O bridge is much stronger. The coexistence of metamagnetism and single-chain magnetic behavior is observed for 2.
