Abstract
The ability to selectively introduce diverse functionality onto hydrocarbons is of substantial value in the synthesis of both small molecules and pharmaceuticals. In this endeavour, as a photocatalyst- and metal-free process, the electron donor-acceptor (EDA) strategy has not been well explored. Here we report an approach to aliphatic carbon-hydrogen bond diversification through an EDA complex constituted by HCl and SIV=O groups. As an efficient hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) reagent, chlorine radical can be produced via a proton-coupled electron transfer process in this system. Based on this unusual path, a photo-promoted versatile aliphatic C-H functionalization is developed without photo- and metal-catalysts, including thiolation, arylation, alkynylation, and allylation. This conversion has concise and ambient reaction conditions, good functional group tolerance, and substrate diversity, and provides an alternative solution for the high value-added utilization of bulk light alkanes.

Abstract
Synthesizing benzyl skeleton derivatives via direct oxidation of functionalized benzylic C-H bonds has received extensive research attention. Herein, a method was developed to prepare carbonyl compounds via photoinduced aerobic oxidation of ubiquitous benzylic C-H bonds mediated by bromine radicals and tribromomethane radicals. This method employed commercially available CBr4 as a hydrogen atom transfer reagent precursor, air as an oxidant, water as a reaction solvent, and tetrabutylammonium perchlorate (TBAPC) as an additive under mild conditions. A series of substrates bearing different functional groups was converted to aromatic carbonyls in moderate to good yields. Moreover, a low environmental factor (E-factor value=0.45) showed that the proposed method is ecofriendly and environmentally sustainable.

Abstract
A visible light-enabled synthesis of unsymmetrical ketones has been accomplished by the cross-coupling of α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acids and aryldiazonium salts embracing a synergistic eosin Y and Co(OAc)2·4H2O catalysis. The reaction involves decarboxylative aerobic CC bond cleavage, and is endowed with the creation of new C-C and C-O bonds with good substrate scope.

Abstract
The selective and controllable construction of spio-tricyclic skeletons through visible light promoted radical cyclization still remains challenging. Herein, a general and convenient protocol for the blue light-promoted radical-mediated cascade spiro-cyclization/Michael addition of N-arylpropiolamides with thiophenols under metal-free conditions was developed. In this protocol, commercially available hydrochloric acid was employed as the cheap promoter and air as the sustainable oxidant. In addition, many functional groups tolerate the reaction conditions and produce a series of sulfur-containing benzo[b]pyrrolo[2,1-c][1,4]oxazine-3,9-diones.

Abstract
Here, an efficient Minisci reaction of heteroarenes and unactivated C(sp3)-H alkanes was achieved using an inexpensive FeCl3 as a photocatalyst. The photogenerated chlorine radical contributed to the HAT of C-H and subsequently initiated this reaction. Surprisingly, salt water and even seawater can act as a chlorine radical source, which provided an enlightening idea for future organic synthesis methods.

Abstract
A novel and simple HCl-mediated, photocatalytic method for quinoxaline(on)es C3-H arylation with arylhydrazine under transition metal catalyst- and oxidant-free conditions is presented. Various quinoxaline(on)es underwent this transformation smoothly, demonstrating a broad substrate tolerance and providing the corresponding aryl products in moderate to excellent yields. Mechanistic studies indicated that a radical pathway may be involved in this transformation.

Abstract
Despite the sophistication of C-H functionalization as one of the most powerful tools in organic synthesis, methodology for performing hydrogen-atom transfer of unactivated alkanes remains rather scarce. Herein, we describe chlorine radical-catalyzed C(sp3)-H photoalkylation using titanium(IV) chloride via a ligand-to-metal charge transfer process. Enabled by the unique properties of this abundant metal salt, the reaction not only effected the coupling of various alkanes with radical acceptors but also was shown to be applicable to direct photoalkylation of aromatic ketones.
