Abstract
Nucleosides modification via conventional cross-coupling has been performed using different catalytic systems and found to take place via long reaction times. However, since the pandemic, nucleoside-based antivirals and vaccines have received widespread attention and the requirement for rapid modification and synthesis of these moieties has become a major objective for researchers. To address this challenge, we describe the development of a rapid flow-based cross-coupling synthesis protocol for a variety of C5-pyrimidine substituted nucleosides. The protocol allows for facile access to multiple nucleoside analogues in very good yields in a few minutes compared to conventional batch chemistry. To highlight the utility of our approach, the synthesis of an anti-HSV drug, BVDU was also achieved in an efficient manner using our new protocol. Abstract
Modification of unprotected nucleosides has been attracting continuous interest, since these building blocks themselves and their phosphate-upgraded corresponding nucleotides have shown a plethora of uses in fields like biochemistry or pharmacy. Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions, conducted in water or its mixtures with polar organic solvents, have frequently been the researchers' choice for the functionalization of the purine/pyrimidine base of the unprotected nucleosides. In this scenario, the availability of hydrophilic ligands and its water-soluble palladium complexes has markedly set the pace of the advances. The approach of our group to the synthesis of such complexes, Pd-imidates specifically, has faced critical stages, namely the jump to synthesize water soluble complexes from our experience working in conventional solvents, the preparation of phosphine free complexes and the overall goal of getting catalytic systems able to work close to room temperature. The continuous feedback with Kapdi's group, experienced in the chemistry of nucleosides, has produced over the last decade the interesting results in both fields presented here.

Abstract
Two novel succinimide-based palladium complexes, AsCat and FurCat, are highly efficient catalysts for room-temperature Stille cross-coupling of organostannanes with benzyl chlorides. The air- and moisture-stable catalysts are prepared in one step, and the coupling reactions proceed with a high selectivity for the benzyl position under mild conditions without the need for additives.

Abstract
NMR spectroscopy is the go-to technique for determining the solution structures of organic, organometallic, and even macromolecular species. However, structure determination of nanoscale aqueous inorganic clusters by NMR spectroscopy remains an unexplored territory. The few hydroxo-bridged inorganic species well characterized by 1H Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy (1H-NMR) do not provide enough information for signal assignment and prediction of new samples. 1H-NMR and quantum mechanical (QM) computations were used to characterize the NMR spectra of the entire array of inorganic flat-Ga13-x In x (0 ≤ x ≤ 6) nanoscale clusters in solution. A brief review of the known signals for μ2-OH and μ3-OH bridges gives expected ranges for certain types of protons, but does not give enough information for exact peak assignment. Integration values and NOESY data were used to assign the peaks of several cluster species with simple 1H-NMR spectra. Computations agree with these hydroxide signal assignments and allow for assignment of the complex spectra arising from the remaining cluster species. This work shows that 1H-NMR spectroscopy provides a variety of information about the solution behavior of inorganic species previously thought to be inaccessible by NMR due to fast ligand and/or proton exchange in wet solvents.

Abstract
An effective ligand-free Suzuki coupling protocol to unite methyl (E)-4-bromobut-2-enoate with several arylboronic acids has been accomplished. Thus, a number of variously functionalized methyl 4-arylcrotonates have been achieved in high to excellent yields under mild conditions. This method enables the preparation of diverse aryl-substituted cores of HIV-1 protease inhibitors.

Abstract
The reaction mechanism of the Pd-catalyzed benzyl/allyl coupling of benzyl chloride with allyltributylstannan, resulting in the dearomatization of the benzyl group, was studied using density functional theory calculations at the B3LYP level. The calculations indicate that the intermediate (eta(3)-benzyl)(eta(1)-allyl)Pd(PH(3)) is responsible for the formation of the kinetically favored dearomatic product. Reductive elimination of the dearomatic product from the intermediate occurs by coupling the C-3 terminus of the eta(1)-allyl ligand and the para-carbon of the eta(3)-benzyl ligand in (eta(3)-benzyl)(eta(1)-allyl)Pd(PH(3)). For comparison, various C-C coupling reaction pathways have also been examined.
