Abstract
The effective catalytic activity of organoaluminum compounds for the monohydroboration of carbodiimides has been demonstrated. Two aluminum complexes, 2 and 3, were synthesized and characterized. The efficient catalytic performances of four aluminum hydride complexes L1 AlH2 (L1 =HC(CMeNAr)2 , Ar=2,6-Et2 C6 H3 ; 1), L2 AlH2 (NMe3 ) (L2 =o-C6 H4 F(CH=N-Ar), Ar=2,6-Et2 C6 H3 ; 2), L3 AlH (L3 =2,6-bis(1-methylethyl)-N-(2-pyridinylmethylene)phenylamine; 3), and L4 AlH(NMe3 ) (L4 =o-C6 H4 (N-Dipp)(CH=N-Dipp), Dipp=2,6-iPr2 C6 H3 ; 4), and an aluminum alkyl complex L1 AlMe2 (5) were used for the monohydroboration of carbodiimides investigated under solvent-free and mild conditions. Compounds 1-3 and 5 can produce monohydroborated N-borylformamidine, whereas 4 can afford the C-borylformamidine product. A suggested mechanism of this reaction was explored, and the aluminum formamidinate compound 6 was characterized by single-crystal X-ray, also a stoichiometric reaction was investigated.

Abstract
A series of zinc complexes bearing the anilido-imino ligand [(o-C6H4{N(C6H3iPr2)}{C(CH3) = NC6H3iPr2})] [(LDipp)ZnX] has been generated. This includes two amide derivatives, [(LDipp)Zn(N{SiMe3}2)] and [(LDipp)Zn(NH{Dipp})] and two phosphanide derivatives, [(LDipp)ZnPCy2] and [(LDipp)ZnPPh2]. The chemistry of the phosphanide complexes towards chalcogens was examined, with sulfur, selenium and tellurium oxidising the phosphorus centre of the dicylohexylphosphanide complex [(LDipp)ZnPCy2] to form [(LDipp)Zn(E)2PCy2] (E = S, Se, Te). Addition of tellurium to the diphenylphosphanide complex [(LDipp)ZnPPh2] results in formation of Ph2PPPh2 and [(LDipp)ZnTeZn(LDipp)]. The absorption and emission properties of these complexes was examined and the quantum yields are highly dependent upon the non-ancillary ligand X.

Abstract
In the title compound, C11H8O3S2, the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the two thiophene rings is 65.10 (10)°. Intramolecular C—H⋯O interactions form S(6) and S(7) ring motifs. In the crystal, chains along the a axis are formed by C—H⋯O interactions. Adjacent chains are connected into a three-dimensional network by C—H⋯O and O—H⋯O interactions.

Abstract
The title ethyl–zinc complex, [Zn(C2H5)(C19H24N3)], bears a tridentate anilinide–aldimine ligand and features one long Zn—N(amine) bond length, attributable to the crowded environment of the coordinated metal, arising from the dimethylphenyl group. The ZnII ion adopts a distorted tetrahedral geometry, the dihedral angle between the two benzene rings being 86.05 (16)°.

Abstract
New 2-iminophenanthro[9,10-c]pyrrole ligand precursors containing phenyl or 2,6-diisopropylphenyl groups at the imine nitrogen substituent, 2-arylformiminophenanthro[9,10-c]pyrroles (aryl = phenyl IIa, 2,6-diisopropylphenyl IIb) were synthesized and deprotonated in situ with NaH, originating solutions of the corresponding sodium salts (IVa, IVb). The reaction of these salts with zinc chloride gave the homoleptic bis-ligand Zn(II) complexes [Zn(kappa(2)N,N'-2-arylformiminophenanthro[9,10-c]pyrrolyl)(2)] (aryl = phenyl 2a, 2,6-diisopropylphenyl 2b). The new ligand precursors and complexes were characterized by NMR, elemental analysis, UV/vis spectroscopy, and X-ray crystallography, when possible. The photophysical characterization was carried out using steady-state and picosecond time-resolved luminescence techniques in solution. The influence of the pi-extended conjugation of the condensed phenanthro group on the deprotonated iminopyrrolyl ligands coordinated to Zn(2+) greatly enhances fluorescence quantum yields of the complexes (2a, 2b) in relation to those of their ligand precursors (IIa, IIb). Complex 2a shows emission in the green spectral region (lambda(max) = 494 nm), presenting the highest fluorescence quantum yield (phi(f) = 8.8%). In the case of the complex 2b (phi(f) = 3.9%), the bulkiness of the 2,6-diisopropyl substituents of the arylimino group highly restricts the aryl ring rotation toward coplanarity with the ligand framework, inducing a shift in the emission to the blue region (lambda(max) = 459 nm). The values of the radiative (k(f)) and radiationless rate constants (k(nr)) show that the fluorescence quantum yield enhancement in the complexes results from a 50-fold increase in k(f) values, indicating much more allowed pi-pi* transitions in complexes 2a and 2b than those occurring in the ligand precursors IIa and IIb, with an essentially n-pi* character. These assignments were confirmed by density-functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT (TD-DFT) molecular orbital calculations. Simple 2-aryliminopyrrole ligand precursors (Ia, Ib) and their Zn(II) complexes (1a, 1b) were also prepared to compare their photophysical properties with those of the corresponding 2-aryliminophenanthro[9,10-c]pyrrolyl compounds.
