Abstract
Polyamines have been used as active materials to capture carbon dioxide gas based on its well-known reaction with amines to form carbamates. This work investigates the reactions between three amino-terminated poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimers (G1, G3 and G5) and CO2(g) in aqueous (D2O) and methanolic (CD3OD) solutions. The reactions were monitored using 1H NMR spectroscopy, and yielded dendrimers with a combination of terminal carbamate and terminal ammonium groups. In aqueous media the reaction was complicated by the generation of soluble carbonate and bicarbonate ions. The reaction was cleaner in CD3OD, where the larger G5 dendrimer solution formed a gel upon exposure to CO2(g). All reactions were reversible, and the trapped CO2 could be released by treatment with N2(g) and mild heating. These results highlight the importance of the polyamine dendrimer size in terms of driving changes to the solution’s physical properties (viscosity, gel formation) generated by exposure to CO2(g).

Abstract
Abstract
Metallomacromolecules are frequently encountered in redox proteins including metal-tanned hide collagen and play crucial roles involving supramolecular properties in biological electron-transfer processes. They are also currently found in non-natural families, such as: metallopolymers, metallodendrimers and metallodendronic polymers. This mini-review discusses the supramolecular redox functions of such nanomaterials developed in our research group. Electron-transfer processes are first examined in mono-, bis- and hexa-nuclear ferrocenes and other electron-reservoir organoiron systems showing the influence of supramolecular and reorganization aspects on their mechanism. Then applications of electron-transfer processes using these same organoiron redox systems in metallomacromolecules and their supramolecular functions are discussed including redox recognition/sensing, catalysis templates, electrocatalysis, redox catalysis, molecular machines, electrochromes, drug delivery device and nanobatteries.

Abstract
Anions play a vital role in a broad range of environmental, technological, and physiological processes, making their detection/quantification valuable. Electroanalytical sensors offer much to the selective, sensitive, cheap, portable, and real-time analysis of anion presence where suitable combinations of selective (noncovalent) recognition and transduction can be integrated. Spurred on by significant developments in anion supramolecular chemistry, electrochemical anion sensing has received considerable attention in the past two decades. In this review, we provide a detailed overview of all electroanalytical techniques that have been used for this purpose, including voltammetric, impedimetric, capacititive, and potentiometric methods. We will confine our discussion to sensors that are based on synthetic anion receptors with a specific focus on reversible, noncovalent interactions, in particular, hydrogen- and halogen-bonding. Apart from their sensory properties, we will also discuss how electrochemical techniques can be used to study anion recognition processes (e.g., binding constant determination) and will furthermore provide a detailed outlook over future efforts and promising new avenues in this field.

Abstract
A highly efficient and improved synthetic methodology for the preparation of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones and thiones in the Biginelli reaction by condensation of β-dicarbonyl compounds, urea/thiourea and aromatic aldehydes using Dendrimer-PWAn as a nanocatalyst under ultrasonic irradiation is reported. Compared with classical Biginelli reaction conditions, this new method has the advantage of easy reaction condition, short reaction time, excellent yields, recyclable green catalyst, reduced environmental impacts and absence of any tedious workup or purification. The catalyst can be easily recovered by filtration and reused for eight consecutive reaction cycles without significant loss of activity. Also, SEM and DLS images of the catalyst after reaction cycle were investigated.

Abstract
The extraordinary development of the design and synthesis of dendrimers has allowed scientists to locate redox sites at precise positions (core, focal points, branching points, termini, cavities) of these perfectly defined macromolecules, which have generation-controlled sizes and topologies matching those of biomolecules. Redox-dendrimer engineering has led to fine modelling studies of electron-transfer metalloproteins, in which the branches of the dendrimers hinder access to the active site in a manner reminiscent of that of the protein. It has also enabled the construction of remarkable catalysts, sensors and printboards, including by sophisticated design of the interface between redox dendrimers and solid-state devices - for example by functionalizing electrodes and other surfaces. Electron-transfer processes between dendrimers and a variety of other molecules hold promising applications in diverse areas that range from bio-engineering to sensing, catalysis and energy materials.

Abstract
New (chalcogenoethyl)ferrocenylcarboxalate functionalized silver chalcogenide nanoclusters were synthesized using a combination of silylated chalcogen reagents at low temperatures. The addition of E(SiMe(3))(2) to reaction mixtures of FcC{O}OCH(2)CH(2)ESiMe(3) (E = S, Se) and (Ph(3)P)(2)·AgOAc affords nanoclusters with approximate molecular formulas [Ag(36)S(9)(SCH(2)CH(2)O{O}CFc)(18)(PPh(3))(3)] (1), [Ag(100)Se(17)(SeCH(2)CH(2)O{O}CFc)(66)(PPh(3))(10)] (2), and [Ag(180)Se(54)(SeCH(2)CH(2)O{O}CFc)(72)(PPh(3))(14)] (3) as noncrystalline solids. Compositions were formulated on the basis of elemental analysis, high resolution transmission electron microscopy, and dynamic light scattering experiments. Solutions of these polyferrocenyl assemblies display a single quasi-reversible redox wave with some adsorption to the electrode surface as studied by cyclic voltammetry. With the smaller clusters 1, the addition of [Bu(4)N][HSO(4)] results in a shift of the reduction wave to less positive potentials than those of the complex in the absence of these oxoanions. No further shift is observed after the addition of approximately 1 equivalent of HSO(4)(-)/ferrocene branch. Cyclic voltammograms of the larger clusters 2 and 3 show the appearance of a new, irreversible wave at less positive potentials than the initial wave upon the addition of HSO(4)(-). The appearance of this new wave together with the disappearance of the reduction wave indicates a stronger interaction between the nanoclusters and the hydrogen sulfate anion.

Abstract
Previously, the synthesis of compounds Ru(2)(D(3,5-Cl(2)Ph)F)(4-n)(O(2)CFc)(n)Cl (n = 1, 3a; 2, 4a), where D(3,5-Cl(2)Ph)F is N,N'-di(3,5-dichlorophenyl)formamidinate, from the carboxylate exchange reactions between Ru(2)(D(3,5-Cl(2)Ph)F)(4-n)(OAc)(n)Cl and ferrocene carboxylic acid was communicated. Reported herein is the preparation of analogous compounds Ru(2)(DmAniF)(4-n)(O(2)CFc)(n)Cl (n = 1, 3b; 2, 4b), where DmAniF is N,N'-di(3-methoxyphenyl)formamidinate, from Ru(2)(DmAniF)(4-n)(OAc)(n)Cl. Compounds 3 and 4 were characterized with various techniques including X-ray structural determinations of 3a and 4a. Voltammetric behaviors of compounds 3 and 4 were investigated, and stepwise one-electron ferrocene oxidations were observed for both compounds 4a and 4b. Spectral analysis of the monocations [4](+) indicated that they are the Robin-Day class II mixed valent [Fc···Fc](+) species. Measurement and fitting of magnetic data (χT) of 4a between 2 and 300 K revealed a typical zero-field splitting of a S = 3/2 center with D = 77 cm(-1), while those of [4a]BF(4) are consistent with the presence of S = 3/2 (Ru(2)) and S = 1/2 (Fc(+)) centers that are weakly coupled (zJ = -0.76 cm(-1)).
