Abstract
"Homoleptic" tetracoordinate boron compounds, in which the central boron atom links to four identical atoms, are a special and important family of boron compounds. During the past decades, they have been extensively employed in inorganic, organic, macromolecular, and materials chemistry. Many of them exhibit a diverse range of outstanding properties, and therefore, the synthesis and application of those compounds have emerged as a hot research topic in modern boron chemistry. This review summarizes and discusses the "homoleptic" tetracoordinate boron compounds, which are organized according to the kinds of atoms coordinated to the central boron.

Abstract
Crystal engineering based on σ-hole interactions is an emerging approach for realization of new materials with higher complexity. Neutral inorganic clusters derived from 1,2-dicarba-closo-dodecaborane, substituted with -SeMe, -TeMe, and -I moieties on both skeletal carbon vertices are experimentally demonstrated herein as outstanding chalcogen- and halogen-bond donors. In particular, these new molecules strongly interact with halide anions in the solid-state. The halide ions are coordinated by one or two donor groups (μ1 - and μ2 -coordinations), to stabilize a discrete monomer or dimer motifs to 1D supramolecular zig-zag chains. Crucially, the observed chalcogen bond and halogen bond interactions feature remarkably short distances and high directionality. Electrostatic potential calculations further demonstrate the efficiency of the carborane derivatives, with Vs,max being similar or even superior to that of reference organic halogen-bond donors, such as iodopentafluorobenzene.

Abstract
The selenium adducts of germa- and stanna-closo-dodecaborate can coordinate at platinum via the selenium atom and result in the products [Pt(dppp)(Se-TB(11)H(11))(2)](2-) (T = Ge, Sn) (dppp = 1,3-bis(diphenylphosphino)propane). The monomeric tin compound [Pt(dppp)(Se-SnB(11)H(11))(2)](2-) is converted to a dimeric complex [Pt(2)(dppp)(2)(μ(2),μ'(2)-η(2)-Se(2)SnB(11)H(11))]. The new compounds were characterized by NMR spectroscopy in solution ((1)H, (11)B, (13)C, (31)P, (77)Se, (119)Sn, (195)Pt), elemental analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction.
