Abstract
The thermally assisted reaction of Cr(NO3)3·9H2O, 4-Cl-pzH, and Et3N yielded electrochemically active trinuclear CrIII-oxo-pyrazolate complexes with formula (Ph4P)2[Cr3(μ3-O)(μ-4-Cl-pz)6X3], X = Cl (1) and Br (2). Magnetic susceptibility measurements and EPR spectroscopy show that 1 has an antiferromagnetically coupled Cr3O-core with an S = 1/2 ground state and isotropic exchange of J = -12.7 cm-1. (Hex = -2JS1S2). Cyclic voltammetry reveals a facile reversible oxidation to the formally CrIII2CrIV analogue of 1. The UV-Vis-NIR spectra of CrIII3 and CrIII2CrIV species have been assigned with the help of DFT calculations.

Abstract
Spin triangles, that is, triangular complexes of half-integer spins, are the oldest molecular nanomagnets (MNMs). Their magnetic properties have been studied long before molecular magnetism was delineated as a research field. This Review presents the history of their study, with references to the parallel development of new experimental investigations and new theoretical ideas used for their interpretation. It then presents an indicative list of spin-triangle families to illustrate their chemical diversity. Finally, it makes reference to recent developments in terms of theoretical ideas and new phenomena, as well as to the relevance of spin triangles to spintronic devices and new physics.

Abstract
The accurate description of magnetic level energetics in oligonuclear exchange-coupled transition-metal complexes remains a formidable challenge for quantum chemistry. The density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) brings such systems for the first time easily within reach of multireference wave function methods by enabling the use of unprecedentedly large active spaces. But does this guarantee systematic improvement in predictive ability and, if so, under which conditions? We identify operational parameters in the use of DMRG using as a test system an experimentally characterized mixed-valence bis-μ-oxo/μ-acetato Mn(III,IV) dimer, a model for the oxygen-evolving complex of photosystem II. A complete active space of all metal 3d and bridge 2p orbitals proved to be the smallest meaningful starting point; this is readily accessible with DMRG and greatly improves on the unrealistic metal-only configuration interaction or complete active space self-consistent field (CASSCF) values. Orbital optimization is critical for stabilizing the antiferromagnetic state, while a state-averaged approach over all spin states involved is required to avoid artificial deviations from isotropic behavior that are associated with state-specific calculations. Selective inclusion of localized orbital subspaces enables probing the relative contributions of different ligands and distinct superexchange pathways. Overall, however, full-valence DMRG-CASSCF calculations fall short of providing a quantitative description of the exchange coupling owing to insufficient recovery of dynamic correlation. Quantitatively accurate results can be achieved through a DMRG implementation of second order N-electron valence perturbation theory (NEVPT2) in conjunction with a full-valence metal and ligand active space. Perspectives for future applications of DMRG-CASSCF/NEVPT2 to exchange coupling in oligonuclear clusters are discussed.

Abstract
One-electron reduction of a pyrazolate-bridged triangular Fe3 (μ3 -O) core induces a cascade wherein all three metal centers switch from high-spin Fe3+ to low-spin Fe2.66+ . This hypothesis is supported by spectroscopic data (1 H-NMR, UV-vis-NIR, infra-red, 57 Fe-Mössbauer, EPR), X-ray crystallographic characterization of the cluster in both oxidation states and also density functional theory. The reduction induces substantial contraction in all bond lengths around the metal centers, along with diagnostic shifts in the spectroscopic parameters. This is, to the best of our knowledge, the first example of a one-electron redox event causing concerted change in multiple iron centers.
