Abstract
Metalation of dimesitylphosphane oxide, Mes2P(O)H (1), with alkali metal reagents (nBuLi, NaH, and A(hmds); A = K, Rb, and Cs) in THF yields the corresponding dimesitylphosphinites of lithium (2-thf), sodium (3-thf), potassium (4-thf), rubidium (5-thf), and caesium (6). Their molecular structures exhibit a broad and fascinating variety. Dinuclear compounds 2-thf, 3-thf, and 5-thf have central four-membered A2O2 rings, whereas the potassium congener crystallises as a tetranuclear complex with an inner A4O4 heterocubane cage. The tetranuclear caesium congener precipitates without thf coligands and exhibits a quite unique structure in its crystalline state. Due to their catalytic activity in hydrophosphorylation reactions, we focus on the solvent-structure relationship of the potassium derivatives. In hydrocarbons, [K4(O-PMes2)4]2 (4) is formed, and bidentate Lewis bases like dme and tmeda are unable to deaggregate this tetranuclear cage compound, but bases with a higher denticity (diglyme, triglyme, and pmdeta) split this cage compound into dinuclear complexes with central K2O2 rings. In addition, very bulky P-bound aryl groups like 2,4,6-triisopropylphenyl in dinuclear 8-thf hinder the formation of tetranuclear cage compounds, whereas 2-methylnaphthyl substituents are not bulky enough and the tetranuclear cage compound 7-thf is stabilised. For the 2,4,6-triisopropylphenyl substituent, the rubidium and caesium congeners 11 and 12 crystallise with two central A2O2 rings interconnected by π-interactions. A heteroleptic potassium complex 9-hmds, containing hmds as well as phosphinite anions, represents a snapshot on the way from the starting K(hmds) to the phosphinite-based heterocubane congener. Finally, heterobimetallic [{(thf)K}2Mg(O-PMes2)4] (10-thf) with tetrahedrally coordinated Mg centres has been isolated.

Abstract
This perspective summarizes our group's extensive research in the realm of organometallic lanthanide complexes, while also placing the catalytic reactions supported by these species within the context of known lanthanide catalysis worldwide, with a specific focus on phosphorus-based catalytic reactions such as intermolecular hydrophosphination and hydrophosphinylation. α-Metalated N,N-dimethylbenzylamine ligands have been utilized to generate homoleptic lanthanide complexes, which have subsequently proven to be highly active lanthanum-based catalysts. The main goal of our research program has been to enhance the catalytic efficiency of lanthanum-based complexes, which began with initial successes in the stoichiometric synthesis of organometallic lanthanide complexes and utilization of these species in catalytic hydrophosphination reactions. Not only have these species supported traditional lanthanide catalysis, such as the hydrophosphination of heterocumulenes like carbodiimides, isocyanates, and isothiocyanates, but they have also been effective for a plethora of catalytic reactions tested thus far, including the hydrophosphinylation and hydrophosphorylation of nitriles, hydrophosphination and hydrophosphinylation of alkynes and alkenes, and the heterodehydrocoupling of silanes and amines. Each of these catalytic transformations is meritorious in its own right, offering new synthetic routes to generate organic scaffolds with enhanced functionality while concurrently minimizing both waste generation and energy consumption. Objectives: We aim for the research summary presented herein to inspire and encourage other researchers to investigate f-element based stoichiometric and catalytic reactions. Our efforts in this field began with the recognition that potassium salts of benzyldimethylamine preferred deprotonation at the α-position, rather than the ortho-position, and we wondered if this regiochemistry would be retained in the formation of lanthanide complexes. The pursuit of this simple idea led first to a series of structurally fascinating homoleptic organometallic lanthanide complexes with surprisingly good stability. Fundamental studies of the protonolysis chemistry of these complexes ultimately revealed highly versatile lanthanide-based precatalysts that have propelled a catalytic investigation spanning more than a decade. We anticipate that this summative perspective will animate the synthetic as well as biological communities to consider La(DMBA)3-based catalytic methods in the synthesis of functionalized organic scaffolds as an atom-economic, convenient, and efficient methodology. Ultimately, we envision our work making a positive impact on the advancement of novel chemical transformations and contributing to progress in various fields of science and technology.

Abstract
Herein, a facile method is developed for the synthesis of vicinal bisphosphine derivatives based on a cascade of hydrophosphinylation, elimination, and hydrophosphinylation of secondary phosphine oxides with nitroalkenes. This cascade reaction provides step-economy access to a series of vicinal bisphosphine derivatives with high to excellent yields (up to 99%). This method was further extended to prepare, in one-pot, regioselective vicinal bisphosphine derivatives that incorporated two different phosphorus functional groups.

Abstract
In this paper, the chemoselective hydroboration of aldehydes and ketones, catalyzed by Zinc(II) complexes [ k 2 -(PyCH=NR)ZnX 2 ] [R = CPh 3 , X = Cl ( 1 ) and R = Dipp (2,6-diisoropylphenyl) and X = I ( 2 )], in the presence of pinacolborane (HBpin) in ambient temperature and solvent-free conditions, which produced corresponding boronate esters in high yield, is reported. Zinc metal complexes 1 and 2 were derived in 80-90% yield from the reaction of iminopyridine [PyCH=NR] with anhydrous zinc dichloride in dichloromethane at room temperature. The solid-state structures of both zinc complexes were confirmed using X-ray crystallography. Zinc complex 1 was also used as a competent pre-catalyst in the reductive amination of carbonyl compounds with HBpin under mild and solvent-free conditions to afford a high yield (up to 97%) of the corresponding secondary amines. The wider substrate scope of both reactions was explored. Catalytic protocols using zinc as a pre-catalyst demonstrated an atom-economic and green method with diverse substrates bearing excellent functional group tolerance. Computational studies established a plausible mechanism for catalytic hydroboration.

Abstract
Researchers around the globe have witnessed several breakthroughs in s- and p-block metal chemistry. Over the past few years, several applications in catalysis associated with these main group metals have been established, and owing to their abundance and low cost and they have proved to be essential alternatives to transition metal catalysts. In this review, we present a detailed discussion on the catalytic addition of P-H bonds from various phosphine reagents to multiple bonds of unsaturated substrates for the synthesis of organophosphorus compounds with C-P bonds promoted by various s- and p-block metal catalysts, as published in the last decade.

Abstract
Amidines are a preeminent group of organic compounds having wide applications in various industries. Here, we have developed a simple one-step reaction protocol for the facile synthesis of N-arylamidines catalysed by calcium bis(hexamethyldisilazide) [Ca{N(SiMe3)2}2(THF)2]. The amidine synthesis was readily achieved from organic nitriles and amines which provided a broad substrate scope ranging from electron-withdrawing to electron-donating substitutions as well as heterocyclic substitution. The reaction was carried out in a solvent-free medium under ambient conditions. The nucleophilic addition of aromatic amines to aryl nitriles led to good to excellent yields of the corresponding amidines. The reactivity of the amidines was further examined and the respective urea derivatives were achieved in excellent yields. The plausible mechanism involves the generation of an active calcium amido pre-catalyst that helps in the activation of nitriles in the reaction course.
