Abstract
The reactivity of novel chiral lactamide-substituted diselenide-based reagents under oxidative conditions was exploited to develop a metal-free method for the preparation of enantioenriched allenylamides from simple alkynes in good yields, and with enantiomeric excesses up to 99 %. The key of the success in this method is attributed to the hydrogen-bonded lactamide appendages that ensure configurational stability of chiral vinyl selenoxide intermediates for an optimal enantiotopic β-syn-elimination step.

Abstract
The Banert cascade is an efficient synthetic strategy for obtaining 4,5-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazoles. The reaction can proceed via a sigmatropic or prototropic mechanism depending on the substrate and the conditions. In this work, the mechanisms of both pathways from propargylic azides with different electronic features were investigated using density functional theory, quantum theory of atoms in molecules, and natural bond orbital approaches. The calculated energy barriers were consistent with the experimental data. Three patterns of electron density distribution on the transition structures were observed, which reflected the behaviors of the reactants in the Banert cascade. The stronger conjugative effects were associated with lower/higher free activation energies of sigmatropic/prototropic reactions, respectively. A clear relationship between the accumulation of the charge at the C3 atom of propargylic azides with the energy barriers for prototropic reactions was found. Thus, the obtained results would allow the prediction of the reaction's course by evaluating reactants.

Abstract
Upon treatment of α-azido sulfones with a thiol in the presence of 1,1,3,3-tetramethylguanidine, substitution of the sulfonyl group with a thiolate occurred, resulting in the formation of α-azido sulfides. Based on experimental results and DFT calculations, a reaction mechanism that involves the addition of a thiolate to the azido group and generation of an alkylidene triazene is proposed.

Abstract
The treatment of propargylic azides with silver(i) fluoride in acetonitrile was found to yield α-fluorinated NH-1,2,3-triazoles via the Banert cascade. The reaction was regioselective and the products result from an initial [3,3] rearrangement. The reaction is demonstrated on >15 examples with yields ranging from 37% to 86%.

Abstract
The Banert cascade of propargylic azides can be promoted by simple silver salts, and the triazafulvene intermediate can be intercepted by carbon nucleophiles. Various indoles (>25 examples, up to 92% yield) and electron-rich heterocycles were effective. The Mayr nucleophilicity parameter (N) was found to correlate to the reaction efficiency, which enabled the formation of Csp3-Csp2 and Csp3-Csp3 bonds under otherwise identical conditions from structurally dissimilar nucleophiles.

Abstract
Triazoles are privileged heterocycles for a variety of applications. The synthesis of 1H-triazoles can be accomplished by the Banert cascade from propargylic azides. Depending on the substrate and conditions, the Banert cascade can proceed by either a sigmatropic or prototropic mechanism. This report describes the first detailed kinetic analysis of the Banert cascade proceeding by both pathways including substituent effects and KIE. The analysis identified the inflection point in the divergent pathways, allowing future work to predict which Banert products are accessible.

Abstract
The present review article summarizes the synthesis of allenes, which bear an adjacent functional group, by [3,3]- or [2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement of appropriate propargyl substrates. Functionalized allenes, such as allenyl isothiocyanates, isoelenocyanates, isocyanates, thiocyanates, azides, azo compounds and others, are easily available by these methods. In several cases, however, the title compounds show high reactivity, which leads to rapid intermolecular or intramolecular successive reactions. Consequently, synthesis of the allenes by sigmatropic rearrangement has to be combined with special techniques, for example, flash vacuum pyrolysis or in situ generation and trapping reactions. The high tendency of the presented functionalized allenes to undergo cyclization reactions can be utilized to prepare heterocyclic products, for instance, thiazoles, selenazoles, 1,2,3-triazoles and pyrazoles. The synthesis of functionalized 1,3-butadienes by a second sigmatropic rearrangement of the title compounds is also successful.

Abstract
Computational inside of Banert cascade reaction for triazole formation is studied with B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level of theory. The reaction proceeds mainly by SN2 initial chloride displacement rather than SN2'-type attack. Furthermore, according to the rate of reaction calculation, SN2 displacement is much faster than SN2' displacement in the order of 8. The [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement for the conversion of propargyl azide into triazafulvene has been proved as the rate-determining step having highest activation energy parameter. Solvent effect on total course of reaction has been found negligible. Furthermore, effects of different density functional theory functionals and functional groups on activation energies of [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement of propargyl azide were also studied. BHHLYP, ωB97XD, M062X and BMK calculated ΔG‡ are consistent with B3LYP.

Abstract
A novel Cu-catalyzed aerobic oxidative N-incorporation into aliphatic terminal alkynes for the synthesis of alkenyl nitriles has been reported. The usage of inexpensive copper catalyst, O2 as the sole oxidant, broad substrate scope as well as the feasibility for “the late-stage modification” make this protocol very promising.

The usage of inexpensive copper catalyst, O2 as the sole oxidant, broad substrate scope as well as feasibility for “late-stage modification” make this protocol very promising. Mechanistic studies including DFT calculation demonstrate a novel 1,2-hydride shift process for this novel nitrogenation reaction.

Abstract
Rapid progress in the synthetic application of benzotriazole derivatives in the last 20 years has resulted in over 1000 scientific papers on the subject. This fact is reflected in Section 5.01.7, which involves almost a half of the volume of this chapter. The section is arranged according to hybridization of the C-α atom and atomic numbers of the atoms in positions β and γ to allow an easy access to the material of interest. Recent discovery of copper catalysis in [3+2] cycloadditions of azides to acetylenes, the so-called ‘click chemistry’, which boosted application of the 1,2,3-triazole derivatives, especially in medicinal chemistry, is presented in Section 5.01.9. From the point of view of practical applications, Section 5.01.11 is organized according to the number, position, and combination of the substituents at the aromatic rings. Another novel feature that has no precedence in the previous editions of Comprehensive Heterocyclic Chemistry is an addition of triazole and benzotriazole complexes with various transitions metals to Section 5.01.4.
