Abstract
Herein, we present a metal-free, concise, and efficient protocol for the intermolecular reaction of amides (lactams) with donor-acceptor α-diazo esters to afford the functionalized α-amino-α-aroylethanoates. N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) are employed as both reagents and solvents, allowing for the incorporation of all units into the products. The reaction is processed by the ester group migration and compatible with a broad range of substrates up to 50 examples.

Abstract
The first general synthesis of 2-halomethyleneoxetanes, realized by the reaction of 2-methyleneoxetanes with N-halosuccinimides (NXS), is reported. The relative diastereoselectivities of the transformations were dependent on the halogen of NXS, while alternative reaction outcomes were influenced by substituents on the oxetane. Quantum mechanical calculations and molecular dynamics simulations exploring the basis of the observed diastereoselectivities are described. These highly strained heterocycles underwent standard cross-coupling reactions, demonstrating their utility as synthetic intermediates.

Abstract
An approach to a new type of diazo reagents─diazo dihydrouracils─has been developed, and various transformations of the obtained diazo heterocycles have been studied, demonstrating their high synthetic potential for obtaining structurally diverse derivatives based on the privileged dihydrouracil scaffold. The X-H insertion reactions provide high yields of a variety of 5-substituted dihydrouracils. Cyclopropanation and 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions involving a carbonyl ylide intermediate have been carried out to give spiro-annulated derivatives. The limitations of the modification methods with respect to the nature of substituents on the nitrogen atoms of the diazo heterocycle have been outlined.

Abstract
The advance of organic synthesis and the discovery of novel chemical transformations are often propelled by the rational programming of various bond-forming mechanisms and sequences that involve delicate reactive intermediates. In this study, we present an innovative Rh(ii)-catalyzed asymmetric three-component cascade reaction involving IIII/PV-hybrid ylides, aldehydes, and carboxylic acids for the synthesis of 1,3-dioxoles with moderate to good yields and high enantioselectivity. This method utilizes IIII/PV-hybrid ylides as carbene precursors to form α-PV-Rh-carbenes, which initiate the formation of carbonyl ylides, followed by stereoselective cyclization with carboxylate anions and an intramolecular Wittig olefination cascade, ultimately resulting in the modular assembly of chiral 1,3-dioxoles. By employing this strategy, we successfully coupled various aldehydes and carboxylic acids to give chiral non-benzofused 1,3-dioxole scaffolds, highlighting the potential for late-stage functionalization of biologically relevant molecules, versatile synthetic manipulation, and the production of poly-1,3-dioxole macromolecules.

Abstract
A set of unique nucleoside analogs, containing 'spirocyclic orthoester-type' scaffolds, were synthesized from a common isothiazolo[4,3-d]pyrimidine-riboside precursor. The key reaction, using 1,2-di-heteroatomic nucleophiles (e.g., 1,2-ethandithiol) and BF3•OEt2, converts an exocyclic imine into the spirocyclic analogs. The novel structural scaffold is confirmed through the use of one- and two-dimensional 1H and 13C NMR experiments.

Abstract
Acyclic diazodicarbonyl compounds react at room temperature with cycloaliphatic thioketones, e.g. 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-3-thioxocyclobutanе-1-one and adamantanethione, via a cascade process in which the key step is a 1,5-electrocyclization of the intermediate thiocarbonyl ylide leading to tetrasubstituted spirocyclic 1,3-oxathioles. The most reactive diazodicarbonyl compound was diazoacetylacetone. In the case of dimethyl diazomalonate competitive 1,3-electrocyclization yielded the corresponding thiirane at elevated temperature, which after spontaneous desulfurization produced a tetrasubstituted alkene. To explain the observed temperature dependence of the main reaction product type obtained from dimethyl diazomalonate and 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-3-thioxocyclobutanе-1-one as well as to verify reversibility of the thiocarbonyl ylide and 1,3-oxathiole interconversion, the calculations of the energy profile for the transformation of 1,3-oxathiole to alkene were performed at the DFT PBE1PBE/6-31G(d) level.

Abstract
Dirhodium tetraacetate catalyzed reaction of alpha-diazo-beta-keto-carboxylates and -phosphonates with arenecarboxamides gives 2-aryloxazole-4-carboxylates and 4-phosphonates by carbene N-H insertion and cyclodehydration. In stark contrast, dirhodium tetrakis(heptafluorobutyramide) catalysis results in a dramatic change of regioselectivity to give oxazole-5-carboxylates and 5-phosphonates. Alpha-diazo-beta-ketosulfones behave similarly and give 5-sulfonyloxazoles upon dirhodium tetrakis(heptafluorobutyramide) catalyzed reaction with carboxamides. The analogous reactions of thiocarboxamides give the corresponding thiazole-5-carboxylates, -phosphonates, and -sulfones.
