Abstract
A divergent, enantioselective synthetic strategy is reported to produce the non-proteinogenic, biologically active natural amino acids norvaline, 5-hydroxy-4-oxo-L-norvaline, and ɣ-oxonorvaline. These were synthesized in good yields (45-75%) from the common starting material (S)-allylglycine obtained by asymmetric transfer allylation of glycine Schiff base using the Corey catalyst derived from cinchonidine in more than 97% enantiomeric excess.

Abstract
Enantiomerically enriched (S)-α-amino acids were obtained. As the initial complex, the Schiff base Ni(ii) complexes were used. The target Ni(ii) complexes were disassembled and the amino acids were isolated with excellent enantioselectivities.

Abstract
A convergent synthesis of carbocyclic sinefungin 2 and its C5 epimer 3 is described. The key features in our synthesis include the use of commercial available L-methionine and readily available (1R, 4S)-4-hydroxy-2-cyclopentenyl acetate as starting materials, cross-metathesis coupling, enzymatic kinetic resolution and Staudinger reduction. The current synthesis is flexible and therefore provides convenient access to the synthesis of various carbocyclic SIN analogues for biological evaluation.

Abstract
Silaproline is an analogue of proline, which exhibits similar conformational properties. Moreover, the presence of dimethylsilyl group confers to silaproline a higher lipophilicity as well as an improved resistance to biodegradation. This report describes the comparison of two routes to obtain Fmoc-(L) Sip-OH on the gram scale using chiral HPLC resolution.
