Abstract
An in silico study, using the GALAS algorithm available in ACD/PhysChem Suite, was performed to calculate the pK a(s) of various oximes with potential application as peptide coupling additives. Among the known oximes and predicted structures, OxymaPure is superior based on the pK a values calculated, confirming the results described in the literature and validating this algorithm for further use in that field. Among the nondescribed oximes, based on pK a calculation, ethyl 2-(hydroxyimino)-2-nitroacetate seems to be a potential candidate to be used as an additive during peptide coupling.

Abstract
In this contribution, a protocol was established for the selective catalytic hydrogenation of nitroarenes to the corresponding N-arylhydroxylamines. The reduction of 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-((2-nitrobenzyl)oxy)-1H-pyrazole, an intermediate in the synthesis of the antifungal reagent pyraclostrobin that includes carbon–chlorine bonds, benzyl groups, carbon–carbon double bonds and other structures that are easily reduced, was chosen as the model reaction for catalyst evaluation and condition optimization. Extensive passivant evaluation showed that RANEY®-nickel treated with ammonia/DMSO (1 : 10, v/v) afforded the optimal result, especially with a particle size of 400–500 mesh. To combine the modified catalyst with continuous-flow reaction technology, the reaction was conducted at room temperature, rendering the desired product with a conversion rate of 99.4% and a selectivity of 99.8%. The regeneration of catalytic activity was also studied, and an in-column strategy was developed by pumping the passivate liquid overnight. Finally, the generality of the method was explored, and 7 substrates were developed, most of which showed a good conversion rate and selectivity, indicating that the method has a certain degree of generality. Expanding the Reaction Space of Linkage-Specific Sialic Acid Derivatization. Molecules 2019; 24:molecules24193617. Abstract
The human glycome is characterized by a high degree of sialylation, affecting, amongst others, cell-cell interactions and protein half-life. An established method for the linkage isomer-specific characterization of N-glycan sialylation is based on the linkage-specific derivatization of sialylated glycoconjugates, inducing ethyl esterification of α2,6-linked sialic acids and lactonization of α2,3-linked sialic acids. While the carboxylic acid activator and nucleophile used in this reaction received extensive investigation, the role of the catalyst was never thoroughly explored. A frequently used catalyst for the linkage-specific esterification of sialic acids is 1-hydroxybenzotriazole (HOBt). Here, a systematic evaluation was performed of five HOBt alternatives in combination with 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide (EDC) in ethanol for the linkage-specific derivatization of sialic acids. Derivatized glycans were analyzed by MALDI-TOF-MS and the catalyst performance was evaluated based on the completeness of the reactions and the linkage-specificity obtained. The use of both 6-Cl-HOBt and 6-CF3-HOBt resulted in high linkage-specificity and minimal byproduct formation, similar to the benchmark method using HOBt. Performing the reaction with these catalysts at neutral or acidic pH showed comparable efficiencies on both sialyllactose and complex-type N-glycans. The reported investigations resulted in an expansion of the reaction space for linkage-specific sialic acid derivatization.

Abstract
From 2-aminonorbornene hydroxamic acids, a simple and efficient method for the preparation of pyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrimidine enantiomers is reported. The synthesis is based on domino ring-closure followed by microwave-induced retro Diels-Alder (RDA) protocols, where the chirality of the desired products is transferred from norbornene derivatives. The stereochemistry of the synthesized compounds was proven by X-ray crystallography. The absolute configuration of the product is determined by the configuration of the starting amino hydroxamic acid.

Abstract
A kinetic study of the one electron oxidation of substituted ferrocenes (FcX: X = H, COPh, COMe, CO(2)Et, CONH(2), CH(2)OH, Et, and Me(2)) by a series of N-oxyl radicals (succinimide-N-oxyl radical (SINO), maleimide-N-oxyl radical (MINO), 3-quinazolin-4-one-N-oxyl radical (QONO) and 3-benzotriazin-4-one-N-oxyl radical (BONO)), has been carried out in CH(3)CN. N-oxyl radicals were produced by hydrogen abstraction from the corresponding N-hydroxy derivatives by the cumyloxyl radical. With all systems, the rate constants exhibited a satisfactory fit to the Marcus equation allowing us to determine self-exchange reorganization energy values (λ(NO˙/NO(-))) which have been compared with those previously determined for the PINO/PINO(-) and BTNO/BTNO(-) couples. Even small modification of the structure of the N-oxyl radicals lead to significant variation of the λ(NO˙/NO(-)) values. The λ(NO˙/NO(-)) values increase in the order BONO < BTNO < QONO < PINO < SINO < MINO which do not parallel the order of the oxidation potentials. The higher λ(NO˙/NO(-)) values found for the MINO and SINO radicals might be in accordance with a lower degree of spin delocalization in the radicals MINO and SINO and charge delocalization in the anions MINO(-) and SINO(-) due to the absence of an aromatic ring in their structure.
