Abstract
Chiral benzo five-membered heterocyclic spirocyclopropanes are an important class of parent core structures with pharmacological activity. A novel organocatalytic one-pot cascade ether oxidation iminium-ion activation strategy for the asymmetric spirocyclopropylation of benzofuran-2-ones and indolin-2-ones from allyl tert-butyl ethers/ pent-2,4-dienyl ethyl ethers with excellent enantioselectivity (ee% up to > 99) and diastereoselectivity(dr.% up to 91:9) has been developed. This process involves the successful dynamic kinetic resolution of racemic 3-bromobenzofuran-2-ones or 3-bromoindolin-2-ones. Its synthetic application will provide a new aminocatalytic cascade tool for the efficient synthesis of complex molecules.

Abstract
We herein report an unprecedented strategy for the asymmetric α-chlorination of β-keto esters with hypervalent iodine-based Cl-transfer reagents using simple Cinchona alkaloid catalysts. Our investigations support an α-chlorination mechanism where the Cinchona species serves as a nucleophilic catalyst by reacting with the chlorinating agent to generate a chiral electrophilic Cl-transfer reagent in situ. Using at least 20 mol-% of the alkaloid catalyst allows for good yields and enantioselectivities for a variety of different β-keto esters under operationally simple conditions.

Abstract
We report an enantioselective approach to tertiary α-chloro esters through the reaction of silyl ketene acetals and N-chlorosuccinimide. The reaction is promoted by a chiral squaramide catalyst, which is proposed to engage both reagents exclusively through non-covalent interactions. Application of the tertiary chloride products in stereospecific substitution reactions is demonstrated.

Abstract
Highly enantioselective chlorination of β-oxo esters and subsequent stereospecific substitution of tertiary chlorides are described. Enantioselective chlorination of β-keto esters and malonates was performed using a chiral Lewis acid catalyst prepared from Cu(OTf)(2) and the newly developed spirooxazoline ligand 2 to yield the desired α-chlorinated products with high enantioselectivity (up to 98% ee). Nucleophilic substitution of the resulting chlorides proceeded smoothly to afford a variety of chiral molecules such as α-amino, α-alkylthio, and α-fluoro esters, without loss of enantiopurity. The results of X-ray crystallographic analysis proved that Walden inversion occurs at the chlorinated tertiary carbon center. These results supported the fact that the substitution proceeds via an S(N)2 mechanism.
