Abstract
Herein, we report the synthesis of seleno-substituted chromenes from selenoalkynes and phenols. In this cascade reaction, the applied gold catalyst not only functions as a π-acid, but also as a Lewis acid, enabling the propargylic substitution in the first step to connect the oxygen carbon bond. Under the optimal reaction condition a total of 26 chromenes were accessible by this modular access. During scale up experiments, the hydrolysis of the vinylselenium substructure to the corresponding chromenones was observed. By revisiting the electron-rich starting materials, four chromenones were produced following a one-pot reaction using a single gold catalyst. To better understand the interaction of gold and selenium, a series of nuclear magnetic resonance studies and high-resolution mass spectrometry studies were performed, which led to the proposal of a mechanism for this transformation.

Abstract
The visible light-promoted O-alkenylation of phenols and naphthols with terminal alkynes is achieved using 2,4,6-tris(4-fluorophenyl)pyrylium tetrafluoroborate (T(p-F)PPT) as a photocatalyst at room temperature without the need of any external ligand or additive. Apart from its excellent functional group tolerance, the protocol described herein represents an appealing alternative strategy to classical transition-metal catalysed hydroarylation reactions. Mechanistic investigations revealed that the reaction involves a radical pathway. The utility of the hydroarylated products for the synthesis of fused benzofurans via a one-pot annulation was also demonstrated. Herein, we report the first intermolecular radical hydroarylation of alkynes.

Abstract
A removable acyl group promoted the intramolecular didehydro-Diels-Alder reaction of styrene-ynes under mild reaction conditions is proposed. The reaction is free of metals and catalysts, is easy to perform, and exhibits good functional group tolerance, providing a highly chemoselective approach for obtaining the valuable aryldihydronaphthalene derivatives.

Abstract
The design and development of a TfOH catalysed domino strategy for the double annulation of arenes with propargylic alcohols for the rapid generation of indene based polycyclic systems is reported. The dehydration, intramolecular 6-endo-dig hydroarylation, and cationic cyclization were consecutively promoted by TfOH. The key features of this strategy are the formation of two C-C bonds, unified access to indene polycyclic systems, excellent yields (up to 95%), high atom economy (>90%), an operationally simple procedure, and water being the only byproduct. By extending this strategy, a two-step synthesis of the pentacyclic systems of hypoxylonol A (43% overall yield from α-tetralone), daldinone A (63% overall yield from β-tetralone) and spiro-tetracyclic framework of incarviatone A has also been achieved.

Abstract
A combined Lewis acid system comprising of two or more Lewis acids occasionally exhibits augmented catalytic activity in organic transformations which are otherwise unrealizable by either of the components exclusively. On the other hand, the efficient construction of multiple new C-C bonds and polycyclic structures in minimal steps remains a subject of great interest in both academia and industry. Herein we report an efficient method to assemble aryldihydronaphthalene derivatives via a cascade reaction of diarylalkynes with acrylates under the catalysis of a combined Lewis acid derived from In(III) salt and TMSBr.

Abstract
The retro-Favorskii reaction is an excellent way to achieve terminal alkynes. Methodologies that connect the synthesis of terminal alkynes and organochalcogen motifs are important for the construction of novel compounds. Fourteen new terminal alkynes containing either Csp -S or Csp -Se bonds were selectively prepared through the retro-Favorskii reaction from the respective carbinol precursors. It was discovered that terminal chalcogen alkynes were stable for weeks if stored as a solution in hexanes.

Abstract
An efficient entry to the preparation of elusive 4-unsubstituted-3-iodo-2H-chromenes has been accomplished as result of a catalytic cyclization. Thus, upon exposition of [(3-iodoprop-2-yn-1-yl)oxy]arenes to IPrAuNTf2 (3 mol %), in 1,4-dioxane at 100 °C, the desired heterocyclic motif is readily assembled. This process nicely tolerates a variety of functional groups and, interestingly, it is compatible with the presence of strong electron-withdrawing groups attached to the arene. The overall transformation can be termed as a new example of a migratory cycloisomerization and, formally, it involves well-blended 1,2-iodine shift and hydroarylation steps.
