Abstract
We report here the synthesis of a novel family of N-CF3 hydrazines from a direct way involving the available and cheap Langlois reagent (CF3SO2Na). These derivatives have shown very high stability whatever the conditions used and are excellent precursors for building previously inaccessible N-CF3 functionalized compounds, such as substituted hydrazides, hydrazine-amino-acids, hydrazones, N-aziridines and pyrazoles.

Abstract
N′-Alkyl hydrazides were effectively synthesized by routes featuring installation, alkylation, and removal of a trifluoroacetyl group. A set of amino acid derived hydrazides were acylated using trifluoroacetic anhydride, and the resulting trifluoroacetyl hydrazides were alkylated with alcohols in Mitsunobu reactions and with alkyl halides under alkaline conditions. Removal of the trifluoroacetyl group was affected under reductive and hydrolytic conditions to provide the respective N′-alkyl hydrazides. This three-step process may be performed without isolation of intermediates to yield N′-alkyl hydrazide after a single chromatographic purification.

Abstract
![]()
N–N-linked
dimeric indole alkaloids represent an unexplored
class of natural products for which chemical synthesis has no practical
solution. To meet this challenge, an electrochemical oxidative dimerization
method was developed, which was applied as the pivotal step of the
first total synthesis of dixiamycin B. This method is also general
for N–N dimerization of substituted carbazoles and β-carbolines,
providing entry into seldom explored chemical space.
