Abstract
Chemically modified electrodes (CMEs) based on polymeric films of E-5-((5-isopropyl-3,8-dimethylazulen-1-yl) diazenyl)-1H-tetrazole (L) deposited on the surface of the glassy carbon electrode have been used for the recognition of heavy metal (Me) ions. The electrochemical study of L was done by three methods: differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and rotating disk electrode voltammetry (RDE). The CV, DPV, and RDE studies for L were performed at different concentrations in 0.1 M tetrabutylammonium perchlorate solutions in acetonitrile. The polymeric films were formed by successive cycling or by controlled potential electrolysis (CPE). The film formation was proven by recording the CV curves of the CMEs in ferrocene solution. The CMEs prepared at different charges or potentials were used for detection of heavy metal ions. Synthetic samples of heavy metal ions (Cd(II), Pb(II), Cu(II), Hg(II)) of concentrations between 10−8 and 10−4 M were analyzed. The most intense signal was obtained for Pb(II) ion (detection limit of about 10−8 M). Pb(II) ion can be detected by these CMEs in waters at such concentrations. The ability of the ligand L to form complexes with Pb(II) and Hg(II) ions was also tested by UV-Vis spectrometry. The obtained results showed the formation of Me(II)L2 complexes.

A Novel Electrochemical Sensor Based on Electropolymerized Ion Imprinted PoPD/ERGO Composite for Trace Cd(II) Determination in Water. SENSORS 2020; 20:s20041004. Abstract
A novel electrochemical sensor based on electropolymerized ion imprinted poly (o-phenylenediamine) PoPD/electrochemical reduced graphene (ERGO) composite on glass carbon electrode (GCE) was fabricated for selective and sensitive determination of trace Cd(II) in water. ERGO was first deposited on the surface of GCE by electrochemical cyclic voltammetry (CV) scanning to enhance the electron transport activity at electrode surface. The ion imprinted polymer (IIP) of imprinted PoPD was then in situ electropolymerized on ERGO via CV scanning with oPD as functional monomer and Cd(II) ions as template, following removal of the template using electrochemical peroxidation method. The obtained imprinted PoPD/RERGO composites were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray energy spectroscopy (EDS) for the observation of their morphologies and components. The electrochemical behavior of the imprinted PoPD/ERGO/GCE was performed by CV and SWASV. The fabricated sensor of the imprinted PoPD/ERGO/GCE showed a good selectivity toward target Cd(II) ions in the presence of other heavy metal ions. Under the optimized experimental conditions, the sensor exhibited a good linear relationship between SWASV stripping peak values and Cd(II) concentration in the range of 1 to 50 ng/mL, with the limit of detection as 0.13 ng/mL (S/N = 3). The proposed electrochemical sensor of imprinted PoPD/ERGO/GCE was successfully applied for trace Cd(II) determination in real water samples.

Abstract
Molecular imprinting technique enables the selective binding of nanoscale target molecules to a polymer film, within which their chemical structure is transcribed. Here, we report the successful production of mixed bacterial imprinted film (BIF) from several food poisoning bacteria by the simultaneous imprinting of their nanoscale surface chemical structures (SCS), and provide highly selective trapping of original micron-scale bacteria used in the production process of mixed BIF even for multiple kinds of bacteria in real samples. Particularly, we reveal the rapid specific identification of E. coli group serotypes (O157:H7 and O26:H11) using an alternating electric field and a quartz crystal microbalance. Furthermore, we have performed the detailed physicochemical analysis of the specific binding of SCS and molecular recognition sites (MRS) based on the dynamic Monte Carlo method under taking into account the electromagnetic interaction. The dielectrophoretic selective trapping greatly depends on change in SCS of bacteria damaged by thermal treatment, ultraviolet irradiation, or antibiotic drugs, which can be well explained by the simulation results. Our results open the avenue for an innovative means of specific and rapid detection of unknown bacteria for food safety and medicine from a nanoscale viewpoint.

Abstract
Herein, we present a survey of the literature covering the development of molecular imprinting science and technology over the years 2004-2011. In total, 3779 references to the original papers, reviews, edited volumes and monographs from this period are included, along with recently identified uncited materials from prior to 2004, which were omitted in the first instalment of this series covering the years 1930-2003. In the presentation of the assembled references, a section presenting reviews and monographs covering the area is followed by sections describing fundamental aspects of molecular imprinting including the development of novel polymer formats. Thereafter, literature describing efforts to apply these polymeric materials to a range of application areas is presented. Current trends and areas of rapid development are discussed.

Abstract
A great challenge in the area of heavy metal trace detection is the development of electrochemical techniques and devices which are user-friendly, robust, selective, with low detection limits and allowing fast analyses. This review presents the major contribution of the French scientific academic community in the field of electrochemical sensors and electroanalytical methods within the last 20 years. From the well-known polarography to the up-to-date generation of functionalized interfaces, the different strategies dedicated to analytical performances improvement are exposed: stripping voltammetry, solid mercury-free electrode, ion selective sensor, carbon based materials, chemically modified electrodes, nano-structured surfaces. The paper particularly emphasizes their advantages and limits face to the last Water Frame Directive devoted to the Environmental Quality Standards for heavy metals. Recent trends on trace metal speciation as well as on automatic "on line" monitoring devices are also evoked.

Abstract
This critical review describes a class of polymers prepared by electrochemical polymerization that employs the concept of molecular imprinting for chemical sensing. The principal focus is on both conducting and nonconducting polymers prepared by electropolymerization of electroactive functional monomers, such as pristine and derivatized pyrrole, aminophenylboronic acid, thiophene, porphyrin, aniline, phenylenediamine, phenol, and thiophenol. A critical evaluation of the literature on electrosynthesized molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) applied as recognition elements of chemical sensors is presented. The aim of this review is to highlight recent achievements in analytical applications of these MIPs, including present strategies of determination of different analytes as well as identification and solutions for problems encountered.

Abstract
A strategy for the ultra-sensitive detection of Pb(2+) in aqueous media has been developed. The combination of oxidative exfoliation of graphite and subsequent chemical amination resulted in an amine functionalized graphene oxide, which showed ultra-high sensitivity in detecting Pb(2+), as it is an active material in modified anodic stripping voltammetry. A detection limit of as low as 10(-13) M (0.1 pM) has been reached, which is comparable to the result obtained from atomic absorption spectrometry, but is dramatically lower than that from other reported electrochemical analysis methods. This simple and economic approach opens up a new window for the portable, quick, and ultra-sensitive detection of lead ions.
