Abstract
Carbon-based stationary phases for chromatographic separation have been commercially available since the 1980s. Porous graphitic carbon liquid chromatography columns are known to be highly resistant to aggressive mobile phases and extreme pH values of solvents and eluents, an important advantage compared to conventional silica-based alternatives. In our work, we demonstrate a new variant of carbon-based stationary phases for liquid chromatography, specifically developed for chiral separation. Mesoporous three-dimensional graphene nanosheets (3D GNS), functionalized with tetracyanoethylene oxide (TCNEO) and (S)-(+)-2-pyrrolidinemethanol, demonstrate pharmaceutical-grade chiral separation of model ibuprofen and thalidomide racemic mixtures when used as Chiral Stationary Phases (CSPs), with performance parameters comparable to currently commercially available CSPs. Simple covalent attachment of functionalization groups to the surface of mesoporous three-dimensional graphene nanosheets makes these carbon-based CSPs chemically stable and up to an order of magnitude less expensive than standard silica-based analogues.

Abstract
Amide-functionalized materials have emerged as promising nonprecious catalysts for electrochemical sensing and catalysis. The covalent immobilization of chitosan (CS) onto graphene sheet (GS) (denoted as CS-GS) has been done via higher degree of amidation reaction to develop an electrochemical sensing matrix for simultaneous determination of dopamine (DA) and uric acid (UA). The enhanced amidation between CS and GS has not been reported previously. However, electrochemical results have revealed that the CS-GS enhances the electrocatalytic performance in terms of the oxidation potential and peak current due to the higher degree of amide functionalization compared to that of CS/GS, which has a lower amidation. Differential pulse voltammetry-based studies have indicated that the CS-GS matrix works at a lower detection limit (0.14 and 0.17 μM) (S/N = 3) and over a longer linear range (1-700 and 1-800 μM), with a comparatively higher sensitivity (2.5 and 2.0 μA μM-1 cm-2), for DA and UA, respectively. In addition, the CS-GS matrix demonstrates good selectivity toward the detection of DA and UA in the presence of a 10-fold higher concentration of AA and glucose. The as-prepared three-dimensional porous CS-GS also endows selective determination toward DA and UA in various real samples.

Abstract
Cyclodextrin (CD) capped CdTe quantum dots (QDs) were prepared with uniform dimension (average diameter ∼5 nm) and high quantum yield (ca. 65%). By taking advantage of the inclusion complexation of CD, β-CD-CdTe QDs exhibited strong fluorescence quenching in a linear relationship with the concentration of o-, m- and p-nitrophenol in the range of 20-100 μM. The detection limit reached 0.05 μM for o-/p-nitrophenol and 0.3 μM for m-nitrophenol. The fluorescence decay study revealed the stabilization effect of CD covering on CdTe QDs and fine-tuning of the fluorescence for selective ultrasensitive detection of nitrophenol isomers.
