Abstract
A critical challenge in using deep eutectic solvents (DESs) in capillary electrophoresis (CE) is to develop separation systems in which a DES can really work as a single entity. To achieve this, the authors recently demonstrated a novel strategy that takes advantage of the aqueous dispersibility of hydrophobic DESs (or more accurately hydrophobic eutectic solvents (HESs)). However, the previous work was limited only to the separation of achiral analytes, e.g., analogues, homologues, and isomers. The present study was designed as a follow-up study in order to explore the feasibility of employing HES-type pseudo-stationary phases (PSPs) in CE for chiral separations. By using carboxymethyl-β-cyclodextrin (CM-β-CD) as a model chiral selector, we provide the first evidence that there is a potential synergistic effect between HESs and traditional chiral selectors. Specifically, the combined use of HES (-)-menthol:octanoic acid and CM-β-CD allowed excellent enantioseparations of several basic drugs which were not able to be resolved in the single CM-β-CD system. The enantioresolutions were significantly improved while the migration times of the enantiomers were also shortened due to the hydrophobic mechanism of the HES-type PSP. Critical factors influencing the novel chiral CE system were systematically investigated. Since HESs are considered as "designer" solvents with highly tunable properties, this study demonstrates the potential of employing HESs (or HDES)-type PSPs in CE for chiral separations.

Abstract
The study aimed to develop a method for the separation of dispersed dyes extracted from polyester fibers. Nine commercially available disperse dyes, which were used to dye three polyester fabrics, were tested. Extraction of dyes from 1 cm long threads was carried out in chlorobenzene at 100 °C for 6 h. The separation was performed using microemulsion electrokinetic capillary chromatography (MEEKC) with photodiode array detection. Microemulsion based on a borate buffer with an organic phase of n-octane and butanol and a mixture of surfactants, sodium dodecyl sulphate and sodium cholate, were used. The addition of isopropanol and cyclodextrins to microemulsion resulted in a notable improvement in resolution and selectivity. The content of additives was optimized by using the Doehlert experimental design. Values of the coefficient of variance obtained in the validation process, illustrating the repeatability and intermediate precision of the migration times fit in the range of 0.11–1.24% and 0.58–3.21%, respectively. The developed method was also successfully applied to the differentiation of 28 real samples—polyester threads collected from clothing. The obtained results confirmed that proposed method may be used in the discriminant analysis of polyesters dying by disperse dyes and is promisingly employable in forensic practice.

Abstract
In this paper, an oil-in-water (O/W) nanoemulsion (NE) prepared by water cold dilution of an O/W microemulsion (ME) was introduced as a sample matrix in microemulsion electrokinetic capillary chromatography (MEEKC) for the highly hydrophobic compounds analysis. Several model compounds with log PO/W values in the 4.1-10.9 range, from different chemical groups, including retinol, α-tocopherol, cholecalciferol, phylloquinone, menaquinone-7, dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, ivermectin have been tested. As a proof of the concept of NE formation, a dynamic light scattering technique was employed to determine the size distribution profile of NE particles. Moreover, due to relatively low conductivity of the NE matrix (50-100 times lower in comparison to the separation buffer) and a negative electric charge provided to hydrophobic compounds through NE dispersed phase, NE matrices have been combined with preconcentration techniques based on electrokinetic dosing, namely field amplified sample injection (FASI) and pressure assisted electrokinetic injection (PAEKI). The detection limits for vitamin K1 and K2-MK7 in the NE matrix in combination with FASI (NE-MEEKC-FASI) as well as PAEKI (NE-MEEKC-PAEKI) were up to 42.9 and 12.1 ng mL-1, respectively. In comparison to standard hydrodynamic injection for microemulsion sample matrix NE-MEEKC-PAEKI grant 45-fold improvement in signal sensitivity. The study presents an innovative approach, as it enables the use of preconcentration techniques for highly hydrophobic compounds (log PO/W > 4), which was not previously possible for implementation in the electromigration techniques. Likewise, the use of organic solvents has been reduced by using ME as a solvent for stock solutions and diluting with water prior to the analysis. The application to real samples was investigated using a dietary supplement containing vitamin K2-MK7 obtained from the fermentation product of soybeans.

Abstract
Capillary electrophoresis (CE) is an analytical method in which charged species are separated by attraction or repulsion performed in submillimeter diameter capillaries or micro- and nanofluidic channels through the application of a high voltage electric field. When capillary electrophoresis is assembled in a multicapillary instrument such as 96-well format (multiplexed), it becomes a powerful high-throughput system with the ability to simultaneously screen several types of samples like genetic mutations, metabolomes, kinase inhibitors, or enzymatic activities to name a few. The usage of a 96-multiplexed capillary electrophoresis system (96-MP-CE) represents a new platform for product-specific high-throughput screening of enzyme mutant libraries from directed evolution campaigns providing a comprehensive view on enzyme activity through the detection of all products formed. We describe the application of 96-MP-CE to screen mutant libraries of P450 BM3. MP-CE was used in directed evolution campaigns toward benzo-1,4-dioxane and α-isophorone.

Abstract
Moment analysis method using partial filling CE was developed for the kinetic study on solute permeation at the interface of spherical molecular aggregates. Moment equations for partial filling CE were developed by classifying CE systems into five categories according to the migration velocities of solute and molecular aggregate. The method was applied to the study on the dissolution of electrically neutral solutes into SDS micelles. Elution peaks were measured by partial filling CE while changing the concentration of SDS and the filling ratio of SDS micellar zone to the capillary (ϕM ). Partition equilibrium constants (Kp ) and rate constants of interfacial solute permeation of SDS micelles (kin and kout ) were determined from the first absolute and second central moments of the elution peaks by using the moment equations. Their values were comparable irrespective of ϕM and were almost the same as those previously measured by complete filling CE. The positive correlation of Kp with the hydrophobicity of the solutes was explained in terms of the change in kin and kout . It was demonstrated that the moment analysis method using partial filling CE is effective for studying solute permeation kinetics at the interface of spherical molecular aggregates.

Abstract
This work reviews the literature of chiral capillary electrokinetic chromatography from January 2016 to March 2021. This is done to explore the state-of-the-art approach and recent developments carried out in this field. The separation principle of the technique is described and supported with simple graphical illustrations, showing migration under normal and reversed polarity modes of the separation voltage. The most relevant applications of the technique for enantioseparation of drugs and other enantiomeric molecules in different fields using chiral selectors in single, dual, or multiple systems are highlighted. Measures to improve the detection sensitivity of chiral capillary electrokinetic chromatography with UV detector are discussed, and the alternative aspects are explored, besides special emphases to hyphenation compatibility to mass spectrometry. Partial filling and counter migration techniques are described. Indirect identification of the separated enantiomers and the determination of enantiomeric migration order are mentioned. The application of Quality by Design principles to facilitate method development, optimization, and validation is presented. The elucidation and explanation of chiral recognition in molecular bases are discussed with special focus on the role of molecular modeling.

Abstract
Nose-to-brain drug delivery has recently attracted enormous attention as an alternative to other delivery routes, including the most popular oral one. Due to the unique anatomical features of the nasal cavity, drugs administered intranasally can be delivered directly to the central nervous system. The most important advantage of this approach is the ability to avoid the blood-brain barrier surrounding the brain and blocking the entry of exogenous substances to the central nervous system. Moreover, selective brain targeting could possibly avoid peripheral side effects of pharmacotherapy. The challenges associated with nose-to-brain drug delivery are mostly due to the small volume of the nasal cavity and insufficient drug absorption from nasal mucosa. These issues could be minimized by using a properly designed drug carrier. Microemulsions as potential drug delivery systems offer good solubilizing properties and the ability to enhance drug permeation through biological membranes. The aim of this review is to summarize the current status of the research focused on microemulsion-based systems for nose-to-brain delivery with special attention to the most extensively investigated neurological and psychiatric conditions, such as neurodegenerative diseases, epilepsy, and schizophrenia.

Abstract
Considering pH-dependent fluorescence of curcuminoids, a microemulsion electrokinetic chromatographic (MEEKC) method was developed under acidic conditions for their separation and detection using laser-induced native fluorescence (LINF), so as to solve the analysis of urine metabolism for curcuminoids. The microemulsion composition was optimized by response surface methodology (RSM), and the effects of buffer pH and organic modifiers were systematically investigated. The optimal buffer for the separation of curcuminoids was chosen as follows: 2.8% (v/v) ethyl acetate, 80 mM SDS and 2.8% (v/v) n-butanol to form microemulsion, 28% (v/v) ethanol as organic modifier, and 20 mM phosphoric acid as electrolyte at pH 3.0. Under these conditions, four curcuminoids including curcumin, demethoxy curcumin (DMC), bisdemethoxy curcumin (BDMC) and demethyl curcumin (DEC) could be well separated within 18 min, and the detection limits (LOD, based on S/N=3) were calculated to be 71, 60, 22, and 147 pg mL-1, respectively. Combined with solid-phase extraction (SPE), the developed MEEKC-LINF method has been successfully applied to continuously monitor the curcuminoids and related metabolites in human urine collected from a healthy volunteer after oral administration of curry, testifying that this method has potential for evaluating the pharmacological activity of curcuminoids.

Abstract
Microemulsions exist widely in nature, daily life and industrial manufacturing processes, including petroleum production, food processing, drug delivery, new material fabrication, sewage treatment, etc. The mechanical properties of microemulsion droplets and a correlation to their molecular structures are of vital importance to those applications. Despite studies on their physicochemical determinants, there are lots of challenges of exploring the mechanical properties of microemulsions by experimental studies. Herein, atomistic modelling was utilized to study the stability, deformation, and rupture of Janus oligomer enabled water-in-oil microemulsion droplets, aiming at revealing their intrinsic relationship with Janus oligomer based surfactants and oil structures. The self-emulsifying process from a water, oil and surfactant mixture to a single microemulsion droplet was modulated by the amphiphilicity and structure of the surfactants. Four microemulsion systems with an interfacial thickness in the range of 7.4-17.3 Å were self-assembled to explore the effect of the surfactant on the droplet morphology. By applying counter forces on the water core and the surfactant shell, the mechanical stability of the microemulsion droplets was probed at different ambient temperatures. A strengthening response and a softening regime before and after a temperature-dependent peak force were identified followed by the final rupture. This work demonstrates a practical strategy to precisely tune the mechanical properties of a single microemulsion droplet, which can be applied in the formation, de-emulsification, and design of microemulsions in oil recovery and production, drug delivery and many other applications.

Abstract
The feasibility of extending the determination of the lipophilicity of partially ionized acids (log Do/w) by microemulsion electrokinetic chromatography (MEEKC) is tested. Theoretical considerations predict that a linear log Do/w vs. log k correlation can be obtained only when the neutral and ionic forms of an acid follow the same correlation equation and the slope of the correlation is unity. In practice, since the lipophilicity of the neutral acid is much higher than that of the ionic form and the correlation slope is not very different from 1, the general linear correlation for neutral compounds can be applied across most of the ionization range of the acid. The linear correlation between log Po/w and log k of 20 neutral solutes (calibration curve) has been established and extended to 6 acids used as models, tested across their full ionization range. log Do/w-pH, and log k-pH profiles have been obtained for these 6 acids, and plotted log Do/w against log k for any acid at any degree of ionization. Furthermore, the log Do/w of the acids has been estimated from the calibration curve and log k-pH profile, and compared to values in the literature determined using reference methods such as the shake-flask one. Accurate values have been obtained using the MEEKC method when the acids are in their neutral form or partially ionized (ionization degree, α < 0.995). However, this parameter is overestimated when the acids are highly or fully ionized (α ≈ 1). Finally, in order to test the applicability of this method, we have applied the same procedure to estimate log Do/w at pH = 7.4 (blood physiological pH) of a set of 30 additional compounds (including partially and fully ionized acids). The results at this pH follow the same trend observed in the 6 model acids, and validate the application of the method for Do/w determination, except when α is very close to 1.

Abstract
Accurate profiling of the lipophilicity of amphoteric compounds might be complex and laborious. In the present work the lipophilicity of 12 anthracycline antibiotics-four parent drugs: doxorubicin, daunorubicin, epidoxorubicin, and epidaunorubicin and eight novel formamidyne derivatives with attached morpholine, hexamethylenoimine or piperidine rings-was determined based on novel approach using MEEKC. In the second stage, lipophilicity was correlated with anthracycline toxicity towards two cell lines. In rat cardiomyoblast cell line (h9c2) a significant correlation between the logP and toxicity was found. The anthracycline lipophilicity was not correlated with toxicity towards the endothelial hybrid cell line (EAhy.926). In conclusion, the lipophilicity of anthracyclines seems to determine their toxicity towards cardiomyoblasts but not on endothelial cells, suggesting a different mechanism of anthracyclines intercellular transport or extrusion in cardiomyoblast and endothelial cells.

Abstract
Moment equations were developed on the basis of the Einstein equation for diffusion and the random walk model to analytically determine the rate constant for the interfacial solute permeation from a bulk solvent into molecular aggregates (kin ) and the inverse rate constant from the molecular aggregates to the bulk solvent (kout ). The moment equations were in good agreement with those derived in a different manner. To demonstrate their effectiveness in one concrete example, the moment equations were used to analytically determine the values of kin and kout of three electrically neutral solutes, i.e. resorcinol, phenol, and nitrobenzene, from the first absolute (μ1A ) and second central (μ2C ) moments of their elution peaks, as measured by electrokinetic chromatography (EKC), in which the sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) micelles were used as a pseudostationary phase. The values of kin and kout should be determined with no chemical modifications and no physical action with the molecular aggregates because they are dynamic systems formed through weak interactions between the components. The moment analysis of the elution peak profiles measured by EKC is effective to unambiguously determine kin , kout , and the partition equilibrium constant (kin /kout ) under appropriate experimental conditions.

Abstract
A green and efficient microemulsion liquid chromatographic (MELC) method using fatty acid as co-surfactant and electrochemical detection was established and validated for the determination of four caffeoylquinic acid isomers and caffeic acid in honeysuckle samples. The influences of each individual component within the isocratic oil-in-water (O/W) microemulsion mobile phase were systematically investigated, such as the type and concentration of co-surfactant, concentration of sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS), organic modifier addition, type and concentration of oil phase, pH and detection voltage. Results indicated that excellent resolution was achieved using 3.0% w/v of propionic acid, 0.5% w/v of ethyl acetate, 1.0% w/v of SDS, 5% w/v acetonitrile, 90.5% v/v of water and 25 mM sodium dihydrogen phosphate at pH = 3 as microemulsion mobile phase and 0.8 V as the optimal voltage value. Under the optimal condition, analytical performance of developed method was evaluated. The detection limits were below 17.3 ng/mL and intra-day and inter-day precisions by relative standard deviations (RSD%) were between 0.5% and 3.6%. Satisfactory recovery (in the range of 83.8-109.1%) with good repeatability lower than 4.7% (n = 3) was obtained. Therefore, the developed O/W MELC method was rapid, precise and accurate for simultaneous determination of neochlorogenic acid, chlorogenic acid, isochlorogenic acid A and isochlorogenic acid C in honeysuckle samples, with contents of 2.6, 28.7, 18.1 and 5.2 mg/g, respectively.

Abstract
New moment equations were developed on the basis of the principle of relativity for explaining some characteristics of elution peaks measured by electrokinetic chromatography (EKC) using spherical molecular aggregates. Basic equations representing mass balance and mass transfer kinetics in EKC system in a Galilean coordinate system S were transformed to those in another coordinate system S', which imaginarily moved with respect to S. Moment equations for EKC peaks in S' in the time domain were derived from the analytical solution of the modified basic equations in the Laplace domain. Moment equations for EKC peaks in S were derived from those in S' by the inverse Galilean transformation. The moment equations were used to the re-analysis of EKC data previously measured. The values of permeation rate constants of thymol at the interface of sodium dodecylsulfate micelles were fairly in agreement with those determined in a previous study. The moment equations were also used to the numerical simulation of elution peaks in EKC systems. The influence of some experimental parameters on elution peak profiles was quantitatively analyzed. The moment equations are useful for determining the rate constants of interfacial solute permeation from elution peak profiles measured by EKC.

Abstract
Since the dawn of civilization, it has been understood that pathogenic microorganisms cause infectious conditions in humans, which at times, may prove fatal. Among the different virulent properties of microorganisms is their ability to form biofilms, which has been directly related to the development of chronic infections with increased disease severity. A problem in the elimination of such complex structures (biofilms) is resistance to the drugs that are currently used in clinical practice, and therefore, it becomes imperative to search for new compounds that have anti-biofilm activity. In this context, nanotechnology provides secure platforms for targeted delivery of drugs to treat numerous microbial infections that are caused by biofilms. Among the many applications of such nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems is their ability to enhance the bioactive potential of therapeutic agents. The present study reports the use of important nanoparticles, such as liposomes, microemulsions, cyclodextrins, solid lipid nanoparticles, polymeric nanoparticles, and metallic nanoparticles, in controlling microbial biofilms by targeted drug delivery. Such utilization of these nanosystems has led to a better understanding of their applications and their role in combating biofilms.

Abstract
A simple, efficient, and green chitosan-assisted liquid-solid extraction method was developed for the sample preparation of isoquinoline derivative alkaloids followed by microemulsion LC. The optimized mobile phase consisted of 0.8% w/v of ethyl acetate, 1.0% w/v of SDS, 8.0% w/v of n-butanol, 0.1% v/v acetic acid, and 10% v/v ACN. Compared to pharmacopoeia method and organic solvent extraction, this new approach avoided the use of volatile organic solvents, replacing them with relatively small amounts of chitosan. Under the optimum conditions, good linearity (r2 > 0.9980) for all calibration curves and low detection limits between 0.05 and 0.10 μg/mL were achieved. The presented procedure was successfully applied to determine alkaloids in Rhizoma coptidis with satisfactory recoveries (81.3-106.4%).

Abstract
In this paper, microemulsion electrokinetic chromatography (MEEKC) fingerprints combined with quantification were successfully developed to monitor the holistic quality consistency of Ixeris sonchifolia (Bge.) Hance Injection (ISHI). ISHI is a Chinese traditional patent medicine used for its anti-inflammatory and hemostatic effects. The effects of five crucial experimental variables on MEEKC were optimized by the central composite design. Under the optimized conditions, the MEEKC fingerprints of 28 ISHIs were developed. Quantitative determination of seven marker compounds was employed simultaneously, then 28 batches of samples from two manufacturers were clearly divided into two clusters by the principal component analysis. In fingerprint assessments, a systematic quantitative fingerprint method was established for the holistic quality consistency evaluation of ISHI from qualitative and quantitative perspectives, by which the qualities of 28 samples were well differentiated. In addition, the fingerprint—efficacy relationship between the fingerprints and the antioxidant activities was established utilizing orthogonal projection to latent structures, which provided important medicinal efficacy information for quality control. The present study offered a powerful and holistic approach to evaluating the quality consistency of herbal medicines and their preparations.

Abstract
Microemulsion electrokinetic chromatography (MEEKC) is a special mode of capillary electrophoresis employing a microemulsion as carrier electrolyte. Analytes may partition between the aqueous phase of the microemulsion and its oil droplets which act as a pseudostationary phase. The technique is well suited for the separation of neutral species, in which case charged oil droplets (obtained by addition of an anionic or cationic surfactant) are present. A single set of separation parameters may be sufficient for separation of a wide range of analytes belonging to quite different chemical classes. Fine-tuning of resolution and analysis time may be achieved by addition of organic solvents, by changes in the nature of the surfactants (and cosurfactants) used to stabilize the microemulsion, or by various additives that may undergo some additional interactions with the analytes. Besides the separation of neutral analytes (which may be the most important application area of MEEKC), it can also be employed for cationic and/or anionic species. In this chapter, MEEKC conditions are summarized that have proven their reliability for routine analysis. Furthermore, the mechanisms encountered in MEEKC allow an efficient on-capillary preconcentration of analytes, so that the problem of poor concentration sensitivity of ultraviolet absorbance detection is circumvented.

Abstract
Capillary electrophoresis (CE) is a versatile and flexible technique for analytical enantioseparations. This is due to the large variety of chiral selectors as well as the different operation modes including electrokinetic chromatography, micellar electrokinetic chromatography, and microemulsion electrokinetic chromatography. The chiral selector, which is added to the background electrolyte, represents a pseudostationary phase with its own electrophoretic mobility allowing a variety of different separation protocols. The present chapter briefly addresses the basic fundamentals of CE enantioseparations as well as the most frequently applied chiral selectors and separation modes. The practical example illustrates the separation of the enantiomers of a positively charged analyte using native and charged cyclodextrin derivatives as chiral selectors.

Abstract
A PEG-modified reversed migration MEEKC method was developed for simultaneous determination of six polyynes, including oplopandiol, falcarindiol, oplopandiol acetate, (11S, 16S, 9Z)-9,17-octadecadiene-12,14-diyne-1,11,16-triol,1-acetate, oplopantriol B, and oplopantriol A, in Oplopanax horridus and Oplopanax elatus. The running buffer containing 0.8% v/v ethyl acetate, 3.8% w/v SDS, 6.6% v/v n-butanol in 20 mM phosphate buffer (pH 2.5), followed by mixing with propan-2-ol at 30% v/v and PEG-1000 at 15% w/v, was applied in the analysis. The proposed method was successfully applied to determine the six polyynes in five samples of Oplopanax horridus and one of O. elatus. The result showed that the types and amounts of polyynes present were obviously different when comparing the two herbs. Besides, the developed PEG-modified reversed MEEKC method might be suitable for the analysis of hydrophobic analytes in herbal medicines.

Abstract
We address a novel method for analytical determinations that combines simplicity, rapidity, low consumption of chemicals, and portability with high analytical performance taking into account parameters such as precision, linearity, robustness, and accuracy. This approach relies on the effect of the analyte content over the Gibbs free energy of dispersions, affecting the thermodynamic stabilization of emulsions or Winsor systems to form microemulsions (MEs). Such phenomenon was expressed by the minimum volume fraction of amphiphile required to form microemulsion (Φ(ME)), which was the analytical signal of the method. Thus, the measurements can be taken by visually monitoring the transition of the dispersions from cloudy to transparent during the microemulsification, like a titration. It bypasses the employment of electric energy. The performed studies were: phase behavior, droplet dimension by dynamic light scattering, analytical curve, and robustness tests. The reliability of the method was evaluated by determining water in ethanol fuels and monoethylene glycol in complex samples of liquefied natural gas. The dispersions were composed of water-chlorobenzene (water analysis) and water-oleic acid (monoethylene glycol analysis) with ethanol as the hydrotrope phase. The mean hydrodynamic diameter values for the nanostructures in the droplet-based water-chlorobenzene MEs were in the range of 1 to 11 nm. The procedures of microemulsification were conducted by adding ethanol to water-oleic acid (W-O) mixtures with the aid of micropipette and shaking. The Φ(ME) measurements were performed in a thermostatic water bath at 23 °C by direct observation that is based on the visual analyses of the media. The experiments to determine water demonstrated that the analytical performance depends on the composition of ME. It shows flexibility in the developed method. The linear range was fairly broad with limits of linearity up to 70.00% water in ethanol. For monoethylene glycol in water, in turn, the linear range was observed throughout the volume fraction of analyte. The best limits of detection were 0.32% v/v water to ethanol and 0.30% v/v monoethylene glycol to water. Furthermore, the accuracy was highly satisfactory. The natural gas samples provided by the Petrobras exhibited color, particulate material, high ionic strength, and diverse compounds as metals, carboxylic acids, and anions. These samples had a conductivity of up to 2630 μS cm(-1); the conductivity of pure monoethylene glycol was only 0.30 μS cm(-1). Despite such downsides, the method allowed accurate measures bypassing steps such as extraction, preconcentration, and dilution of the sample. In addition, the levels of robustness were promising. This parameter was evaluated by investigating the effect of (i) deviations in volumetric preparation of the dispersions and (ii) changes in temperature over the analyte contents recorded by the method.

Abstract
Since the introduction about 30 years ago, CE techniques have gained a significant impact in pharmaceutical analysis. The present review covers recent advances and applications of CE for the analysis of pharmaceuticals. Both small molecules and biomolecules such as proteins are considered. The applications range from the determination of drug-related substances to the analysis of counterions and the determination of physicochemical parameters. Furthermore, general considerations of CE methods in pharmaceutical analysis are described.

Abstract
Despite the fact that extensive research in the field of separations by capillary electrophoresis (CE) has been carried out and many reviews have been published in the last years, a specific review on the use and future potential of cyclodextrins (CDs) in CE is not available. This review focuses the attention in the CD-CE topic over the January 2013-February 2014 period (not covered by previous more general CE-reviews). Recent contributions (reviews and research articles) including practical uses (e.g. solute-CD binding constant estimation and further potentials; 19% of publications), developments and applications (mainly chiral and achiral analysis; 38 and 24% of publications, respectively) are summarized in nine comprehensive tables and are commented. Statistics and predictions related to the CD-CE publications are highlighted in order to infer the current and expected research interests. Finally, trends and initiatives on CD-CE attending to real needs or practical criteria are outlined.
