First-principle investigation on growth patterns and properties of cobalt-doped lithium nanoclusters. J Mol Model 2016; 22:133. Abstract
A systematic theoretical investigation on cobalt lithium clusters LinCo [1-12] was performed with a DFT approach. The location of global minima and structural evolution were carried out using the partical swarm optimization method. Li6Co is the transition structure in going from low-coordinated structures to three-dimensional torispherical structures with a cobalt atom enclosed by lithium atoms. Maxima of ∆2 E and E b for LinCo were found at n = 3, 6, 8, 10, indicating that these clusters possess higher relative stability than their neighbors. In comparison with small clusters, n = 1-6, the greater electron transfer from Li-2s to Co-3d within cage-like clusters LinCo (n = 7-12) strengthens the bonding effect between Lin and Co, which is reflected in the Wiberg bond index of Co and atomic binding energy analysis. AdNDP analysis verified the presence of both Lewis bonding elements (1c-2e objects) and delocalized bonding elements (6c-2e, 9c-2e and 10c-2e bonds). It is hoped that this theoretical work will provide favorable information to help understand the influence of dopant transition metal atoms on the properties of lithium-based materials.

Abstract
The reaction of the bulky phospholide salt Li(2,5-tBu2PC4H2) x 2THF (1; THF = tetrahydrofuran) with [NiCp*(acac)] (HCp* = pentamethylcyclopentadiene, Hacac = acetylacetone) gives the green air-sensitive phosphanickelocene [NiCp*(2,5-tBu2PC4H2)] (2) in yields of about 85%. An X-ray structural determination of 2 shows long Ni-ring bonds and "delocalised" ring P-C and C-C bonds characteristic of a classical 20-valence-electron (ve) nickelocene. The electronic structure of 2 has been clarified through a combined Amsterdam density functional (ADF) and photoelectron spectroscopic study, which indicates that the higher lying semi-occupied molecular orbital (SOMO) (-5.82 eV) has a' symmetry and that the phosphorus "lone pair" is energetically low-lying (-8.15 eV). Oxidation of phosphanickelocene 2 by AgBF4 occurs quantitatively to give the corresponding air-sensitive orange phosphanickelocenium salt [NiCp*(2,5-tBu2PC4H2)][BF4] (3). This complex has also been characterised by an X-ray crystallographic study, which reveals long Ni-C(alpha) and short C(alpha)-C(beta) bonds in the phospholyl ligand indicative of a SOMO having a'' symmetry. PMe3 reacts with 2 at room temperature to provoke a ring-slip reaction that gives the 18ve complex [NiCp*eta1-(2,5-tBu2PC4H2)(PMe3)] (4), but shows no reaction with the phosphanickelocenium salt 3 under the same conditions.

Abstract
AbstractWe report the results of a semiempirical PM3 study of the 1,4 cycloaddition reaction of substituted λ3-phosphabenzenes with alkynes. The influence of the nature, position and steric hindrance of substituents on the reaction energy is studied. Except for some values, the results are in reasonable agreement with experimental observations and electronic effects of substituents.

Abstract
Geometries, aromatic character, Mulliken charge distribution, and MO diagrams of 1,2-aza-, 1,3,2-diaza-, 1,3-aza-, and 1,3,5-diazaphosphinines have been calculated and compared to those of phosphinine and pyridine. This study reveals that the introduction of nitrogen atoms at the position adjacent to phosphorus significantly reduces the aromatic delocalization and induces a [1,4] dipolar character through an increase of the positive charge on the P atom. This phenomenon does not occur in 1,3-aza- and 1,3,5-diazaphosphinines, which exhibit a poor dipolar character. This comparison confirms the high reactivity of 1,3,2-diazaphosphinines toward alkynes. A [4 + 2] cycloaddition reaction between these two types of diazaphosphinines and acetylene has been modelized. Calculated geometries of the resultant [4 + 2] diazabarrelene cycloadducts and that of their respective transition states reveal that, especially with 1,3,2-diaza isomers, the cycloaddition proceeds via a disymmetrical pathway that involves the preliminary formation of the P-C bond.
