Abstract
Phytochemical investigations of the methanol extract from Origanum dictamnus L. (Lamiaceae) resulted in the isolation of forty compounds belonging to the classes of terpenes, resorcinol derivatives, flavonoids, depsides, neolignans and jasmonates. Chromatographic isolations were targeted by using two analytical platforms, NMR and HPLC-PDA-MS. In parallel, HPLC-PDA-MS of individual fractions enabled the unambiguous identification of additionally eight components. In total 48 constituents were isolated/identified. Among the isolated constituents are four undescribed compounds, one resorcinol derivative, one monoterpene, one diterpene and one acylated flavonoid glycoside. The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analyses, including 1D and 2D NMR, and HPLC-ESI-MS and HRMS experiments. Representative compounds were tested for their antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. I4-II7-dicarvacrol was the most potent constituent.

Abstract
Seven previously undescribed polycyclic diterpenoids, euphonoids A-G, including four ent-abietanes, two ent-atisanes, and one ent-kaurene, along with 26 known analogues were isolated from the roots of Euphorbia fischeriana. The structures of the undescribed compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis, ECD calculations, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Besides, the structure of a previously reported ent-abietane diterpenoid, fischeriabietane A, was revised. All the isolates were screened for the cytotoxicities against five cancer cell lines. Euphonoid A, fischeriabietane A, 11-oxo-ebracteolatanolide B, caudicifolin, jolkinolide B, and methyl-8,11-3-dihydroxy-12-oxo-ent-abietadi-13,15(17)-ene-16-oate showed significant inhibitory activities against human prostate cancer C4-2B and C4-2B/ENZR cell lines, with IC50 values being less than 10 μM. The brief structure-activity relationships (SARs) of these diterpenoids were also discussed.

Abstract
Asymmetric synthesis of the title natural diterpenoid was achieved from (+)-sclareolide and its absolute configuration was determined accordingly. The synthesis includes inversion of chirality at C-8, remote functionalization directed by 8-OH, and oxidative lactonization.

Abstract
Fourteen new abietane (1-14) and seven new C(20)-norabietane (15-21) diterpenes, together with five known analogues, have been isolated from the stem bark of Fraxinus sieboldiana. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic data analysis. In the in vitro assays, at 10(-5) M, compounds 8, 16, and 22 showed inhibitory activity against the release of β-glucuronidase in rat polymorphonuclear leukocytes induced by platelet-activating factor, with 59.7 ± 4.8%, 56.1 ± 5.6%, and 65.9 ± 3.1% inhibition, respectively. Compound 23 was active against H5N1 avian influenza virus with an IC(50) value of 4.8 μM. Compounds 3 and 5 exhibited selective cytotoxic activities against A2780 (IC(50) 1.7 μM) and A549 (IC(50) 6.0 μM), respectively.

Abstract
Ring-B derivatization of totarol (1) afforded the series of compounds 2-22 which were screened in vitro against: beta-lactamase-positive and high level gentamycin-resistant Enterococcus faecalis, penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and multiresistant Klebsiella pneumoniae. Several of the derivatives retained much of the antibacterial activity of totatol against the first three of these organisms (all gram-positive), but none was more active. The gram-negative Klebsiella was resistant to all compounds examined. Totarol (1) was shown to uncouple oxidative phosphorylation in isolated mitochondria at 50 microM.
