Abstract
A representative closely packed conjugated polyrotaxane (CPR1) is synthesized by threading polyaniline (PAN) into β-cyclodextrin (CD) macrocycles and utilized for the first time to construct an RRAM device that exhibits an outstanding resistive switching capability. The CPR1 RRAM device displays remarkable nonvolatile memory performance with an extremely high ON/OFF ratio of 108, the ultra-fast response of 29 ns, excellent reliability and reproducibility, and long-term stability (more than 1 year). The mechanism underlying this resistive switching behavior is understood according to the electric-field-induced proton doping of the PAN core by the CD sheath through hydrogen bonding interactions. More impressively, the favorable solubility and intrinsic flexibility of CPR1 allow for large-scale fabrication of flexible CPR1 RRAM device arrays by full-printing technology with endurance of 1000 bending cycles at the minimum bending radius of 3 mm, higher ON/OFF ratio of 108, and relatively lower operating voltage of 1.8 V. This work shows the potential of CPR materials in highly stable memory devices for next-generation flexible and wearable electronics.

Abstract
An investigation of the pH effect on the inclusion complexes of β-cyclodextrins and calixarenesulfonates with 4-aminoazobenzene was conducted both by experiments and molecular simulations. The whole thermodynamic characterizations of the association between hosts and 4-aminoazobenzene ( K, Δr G0, Δr H0, and TΔr S0) were determined by UV-visible spectroscopy. β-Cyclodextrin inclusion complexes are not affected by pH change unlike those obtained with calixarenes. All the studied systems were enthalpically favored. Nevertheless, the entropic behavior is different depending on the host. In order to interpret these experimental results, molecular simulations were used to calculate the number of atoms inserted into the cage-like host compounds and the number of water molecules expelled from the cavity.

Abstract
In this proof-of-concept study, an active-template coupling is used to demonstrate a novel kinetic self-sorting process. This process iteratively increases the yield of the target heterocircuit [3]rotaxane product at the expense of other threaded species.

Abstract
Metalloporphyrins which form the core of many bioenzymes and natural light harvesting or electron transport systems, exhibit a variety of selective functional properties depending on the state and surroundings with which they exist in biological systems. The specificity and ease with which they function in each of their bio-functions appear to be largely governed by the nature and disposition of the protein globule around the porphyrin reaction center. Synthetic porphyrin frameworks confined within or around a pre-organized molecular entity like the protein network in natural systems have attracted considerable attraction, especially in the field of biomimetic reactions. At the same time a large number of macrocyclic oligomers such as calixarenes, resorcinarenes, spherands, cyclodextrins and crown ethers have been investigated in detail as efficient molecular receptors. These molecular receptors are synthetic host molecules with enclosed interiors, which are designed three dimensionally to ensure strong and precise molecular encapsulation/recognition. Due to their complex structures, enclosed guest molecules reside in an environment isolated from the outside and as a consequence, physical properties and chemical reactions specific to that environment in these guest species can be identified. The facile incorporation of such molecular receptors into the highly photoactive and catalytically efficient porphyrin framework allows for convenient design of useful molecular systems with unique structural and functional properties. Such systems have provided over the years attractive model systems for the study of various biological and chemical processes, and the design of new materials and molecular devices. This review focuses on the recent developments in the synthesis of porphyrin assemblies associated with cyclodextrins, calixarenes and resorcinarenes and their potential applications in the fields of molecular encapsulation/recognition, and chemical catalysis.

Abstract
The field of host-guest chemistry provides computationally tractable yet informative model systems for biomolecular recognition. We applied molecular dynamics simulations to study the forces and mechanical stresses associated with forced dissociation of aqueous cucurbituril-guest complexes with high binding affinities. First, the unbinding transitions were modeled with constant velocity pulling (steered dynamics) and a soft spring constant, to model atomic force microscopy (AFM) experiments. The computed length-force profiles yield rupture forces in good agreement with available measurements. We also used steered dynamics with high spring constants to generate paths characterized by a tight control over the specified pulling distance; these paths were then equilibrated via umbrella sampling simulations and used to compute time-averaged mechanical stresses along the dissociation pathways. The stress calculations proved to be informative regarding the key interactions determining the length-force profiles and rupture forces. In particular, the unbinding transition of one complex is found to be a stepwise process, which is initially dominated by electrostatic interactions between the guest's ammoniums and the host's carbonyl groups, and subsequently limited by the extraction of the guest's bulky bicyclooctane moiety; the latter step requires some bond stretching at the cucurbituril's extraction portal. Conversely, the dissociation of a second complex with a more slender guest is mainly driven by successive electrostatic interactions between the different guest's ammoniums and the host's carbonyl groups. The calculations also provide information on the origins of thermodynamic irreversibilities in these forced dissociation processes.

Abstract
We report that the p-xylylenediammonium ion (11) acts as a template in the cucurbit[n]uril forming reaction that biases the reaction toward the production of methylene bridged glycoluril hexamer (6C) and bis-nor-seco-CB[10]. Hexamer 6C is readily available on the gram scale by a one step synthetic procedure that avoids chromatography. Hexamer 6C undergoes macrocylization with (substituted) phthalaldehydes 12, 14, 15, and 18-in 9 M H(2)SO(4) or concd HCl at room temperature to deliver monofunctionalized CB[6] derivatives 13, 16, 17, and 19-that are poised for further functionalization reactions. The kinetics of the macrocyclization reaction between hexamer and formaldehyde or phthalaldehyde depends on the presence and identity of ammonium ions as templates. p-Xylylenediammonium ion (11) which barely fits inside CB[6] sized cavities acts as a negative template which slows down transformation of 6C and paraformaldehyde into CB[6]. In contrast, 11 and hexanediammonium ion (20) act as a positive template that promotes the macrocyclization reaction between 6C and 12 to deliver (±)-21 as a key intermediate along the mechanistic pathway to CB[6] derivatives. Naphthalene-CB[6] derivative 19 which contains both fluorophore and ureidyl C═O metal-ion (e.g., Eu(3+)) binding sites forms the basis for a fluorescence turn-on assay for suitable ammonium ions (e.g., hexanediammonium ion and histamine).
