Abstract
Polyvinyl formal (PVF) was first synthesized via the reaction of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and formaldehyde. The synthesized PVF exhibits a high decomposition temperature, glass transition temperature, and low melting point compared to pristine PVA. The synthesized PVF can be melt processed at temperatures much lower than PVA. Poly(propylene carbonate) (PPC) and the as-made PVF were melt blended in a Haake mixer. The mechanical properties, thermal behaviors, and morphologies of PPC/PVF blends were investigated. Compared to the pure PPC, PPC/PVF blends show higher tensile strength and Vicat softening temperature. Thermogravimetric (TGA) result reveals that the thermal stabilities of PPC/PVF blends decreased with the increase of the content of PVF. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observation indicates that the interfacial compatibility of the PVF and PPC matrix is better than that of the PVA and PPC matrix. The PPC/PVF blends show much better comprehensive properties compared to pure commercial PPC, which provides a practical way to extend the application of PPC copolymer.

Abstract
In this study, we report the synthesis and characterisation of a thermogelling poly(carbonate urethane) system comprising poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), poly(propylene glycol) (PPG) and poly(polytetrahydrofuran carbonate) (PTHF carbonate). The incorporation of PTHF carbonate allowed for the control of the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) and decreased critical gelation concentration (CGC) of the thermogels significantly. In addition, the as-prepared thermogels displayed low toxicity against HepG2, L02 and HEK293T cells. Drug release studies were carried out using doxorubicin (Dox). Studies conducted using nude mice models with hepatocellular carcinoma revealed that the Dox-loaded poly(PEG/PPG/PTHF carbonate urethane) thermogels showed excellent in vivo anti-tumour performance and effectively inhibited tumour growth in the tested model.

Abstract
In this study, two biodegradable polyesters [i.e., polylactic acid (PLA) and poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyhexanoate) (PHBHHx)] with complementarity in terms of mechanical performance have been combined, and a series of blends with a broad range of compositions has been prepared by thermal compounding. The evolution of phase morphologies with the variation of compositions has been characterized by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopic imaging together with scanning electron microscope analyses. Thermal, mechanical, and biodegradation properties of the PLA/PHBHHx blends were systematically investigated. Mechanical properties were further analyzed by using theoretical models and correlated with the results of the morphology/structure and compatibility of the blends. Results indicate that PLA/PHBHHx blends are immiscible but can be compatible to some extent at certain compositions (e.g., PLA/PHBHHx (w/w) = 80/20 and 20/80). The physical properties of the blend could be fine tuned by adjusting the blend composition.
