Abstract
BACKGROUND Medium-term evaluate the bond strength and tag formation in root dentin using self-adhesive cements Maxcem Elite (MCE), Relyx U200 (RU2), SeT PP (SPP) and Megalink (MGL) compared to conventional cement Relyx ARC (ARC) for glass fibre post cementation. MATERIALS AND METHODS One hundred bovine incisors roots were endodontically treated and divided into 5 groups (n = 20) according to the cementation system: MCE, RU2, SPP, MGL and ARC. All cementation systems were evaluated at 24 h (1) and 12 months (2) after post cementation. Specimens from the cervical, middle and apical thirds of the root were submitted to push-out bond strength test and confocal laser microscopy to verify the dentin penetration. The adhesive failure mode was classified as adhesive, cohesive and mixed. Data were analysed by one-way ANOVA and Tukey tests (α = 5%). RESULTS ARC-1 and ARC-12 showed the highest bond strength (P < 0.05). ARC showed the greatest tag extension, regardless of the third (P < 0.05). The most frequent failure mode in the 24-h analysis was cohesive, regardless of the cement used. For the 12-month analysis, mixed failure was the most frequent. CONCLUSION Conventional cement (ARC) showed the highest bond strength and tag extension, regardless of the evaluation period. In all cementation systems, the bond strength decreased after 12 months. © 2023 Australian Dental Association.

Abstract
Statement of problem Post and core (PC) restoration has been widely used to restore endodontically treated teeth. Nevertheless, bibliometric studies focusing on PC research are lacking. Purpose The purpose of this bibliometric analysis was to review the general situation and determine the research direction of PC restoration by means of visualization, including the time development, countries, institutions, authors, journals, research categories, and the information of references with the strongest citation burst. Material and methods The search was carried out within the topic field of the Web of Science (WoS) database. CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and R language were used to analyze the literature. Bibliometric indicators in terms of title, keyword, reference, publication time, institution, country and citation information were analyzed. Results Between 1966 and 2022, dental research on PC trended upward, especially in 2011 and up to 2022. Scholars in Brazil, the United States, and Italy actively participated in PC research. The country that published the most was Brazil. Italy both ranked first in the H-index and average citations per item and had cooperative relations with several countries. The United States ranked first in the world in total citation count. The University of Siena published the most articles. The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry (JPD) was the major contributing journal. The top three authors in this field were Ferrari M, Goracci C and Naumann M. The largest cooperative network of authors consisted of four Italian scholars. There were six main clusters of research topics on PC through CiteSpace co-citations. In addition, CiteSpace co-citations, CiteSpace Burst detection and VOSviewer keyword analysis showed the most important research interests, such as bond strength, fiber post, fracture resistance, and finite element analysis. Photodynamic therapy is the latest research hotspot. Finally, there were the top 25 references with the strongest citation bursts, which mainly focused on four aspects, namely, studies related to fiber posts, PC bonding strength, finite element analysis, and residual teeth and the ferrule effect. Conclusions This bibliometric analysis provides a comprehensive overview of PC research, including the research time, country, institution, author, journal, article clustering, article keywords, and important literature analysis, so that researchers can have a clear understanding of the research situation in this field.

Abstract
PURPOSE The effect of a silicone-based sealer on fiber post retention has not been the subject of research and remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the impact of a silicone-based sealer and an epoxy resin sealer on fiber post retention. MATERIAL AND METHODS Forty extracted human mandibular premolars that were caries-free, single-rooted, and possessed straight single canals were the specimens of the present study. Teeth were randomly divided into two groups (n = 20 each). All specimens were prepared using gutta-percha. The sealer used in the first group was Guttaflow 2, while AH26 was used in the second group. Post spaces were prepared immediately after obturation for each specimen. Prefabricated fiber posts were luted in both groups using a self-adhesive resin cement (RelyX-U200). Each specimen was vertically secured using a universal testing machine (Instron Corp.) and a constant pull-out force at a loading rate of 0.5 mm/min was applied until the point of dislodgement. Data were analyzed using t-tests. RESULTS A significant difference was found between the mean of maximum loads of the silicone-based sealer and epoxy resin sealer groups (p = 0.0001). The mean maximum load for the epoxy resin sealer group was 194.62 N, while that for the silicone-based sealer group was 111.64 N. CONCLUSION Fiber post retention in teeth obturated using silicone-based sealer was inferior to that in teeth obturated with epoxy resin sealer. Therefore, the sealer used during obturation can significantly affect fiber post retention.

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effect of BC HiFlow, a new calcium silicate-based endodontic sealer, compared with a resin epoxy-based sealer after 2 different times of cementation on the pull-out bond strength of glass-fiber–reinforced composite posts cemented with a self-adhesive resin cement (RelyX Unicem). Methodology Sixty human maxillary central incisors were decoronated, prepared and obturated with gutta-percha and sealer. Roots were distributed into 5 groups according to the sealer and time of post cementation: (1) AH Plus sealer with immediate post fixation, (2) BC HiFlow with immediate post fixation, (3) AH Plus and post fixation after 7 days, (4) BC HiFlow and post fixation after 7 days, and (5) fiber post fixation in canals obturated with gutta-percha only (no sealer). After 1 week of post cementation, the pull-out test was performed and the failure mode was examined under a digital microscope. Data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by Tukey's post hoc and t tests (p < .05). Results With immediate post cementation, AH Plus group showed significantly higher pull-out retentive strength than the BC HiFlow and control groups (p = .009 and p < .001, respectively). There was no significant difference between the groups when the posts were cemented 7 days after obturation (p = .726). The time of post cementation had a significant influence on the canals obturated with AH Plus (p = .003). The time did not significantly affect the canals obturated with BC HiFlow (p = .289). The prominent type of failure was mixed mode in all groups. Conclusion BC HiFlow sealer did not affect the pull-out bond strength of glass-fiber–reinforced composite posts cemented with a self-adhesive resin cement immediately after or 7 days after obturation. For immediate post cementation, AH Plus increased the pull-out bond in comparison to BC HiFlow.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION This study aimed to evaluate the effect of calcium hydroxide and bioceramics used in perforation repair on the bonding strength of fiber posts via a push-out test. METHODOLOGY This study used 106 extracted single-rooted human mandibular premolar teeth. Root canal preparations were performed with a rotary file system and perforations were created in the middle third of each tooth. The samples were randomized into two main experimental groups, one with calcium hydroxide and one without. Each group had four subgroups in which different bioceramic cements were applied (n = 11) and a control group (n = 9). The root canals perforations were repaired using MTA, Biodentine, Bioaggregate, and Endosequence BC root repair material. A fiber post was applied to each tooth and a push-out test was performed. The samples were examined at 40× magnification with a digital microscope in order to identify fracture type. RESULTS Bonding strength was calculated in MPa. A statistical analysis showed that the calcium hydroxide had no effect on the bonding strength of the fiber posts. A comparison of the perforation repair materials revealed that Biodentine in the calcium hydroxide group and Bioaggregate in both groups decreased the bonding strength compared to the other materials (p < 0.05). The most common failure type was adhesive failure between the dentin and resin cement (38.16%). CONCLUSIONS The use of different perforation repair materials can affect the bonding strength of fiber posts. Therefore, the choice of perforation repair material should be made on an individual basis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To evaluate the effect of different endodontic sealers (epoxy resin-based and bioceramic-based) and the time of post-cementation on the bond strength of a fiber post cemented with resin cement. METHODS Forty human premolars were instrumented and divided into 4 groups. According to the type of sealer and the time of post-cementation: AH-IM (AH Plus, post-cemented immediately after root canal treatment), SP-IM (iRoot SP, post-cemented immediately after root canal treatment), AH-OW (AH Plus, post-cementation after one week), and SP-OW (iRoot SP, post-cementation after one week). In each group, the samples were submitted to push-out test, and failure mode was assessed. Levene's test, one-way ANOVA, and Kruskal-Wallis analysis were applied for statistical analysis (α = 5%). RESULTS The highest mean push-out bond strength was obtained from the SP-IM group in the apical part (10.45 ± 5.15MPa), while the lowest was observed in samples from the AH-OW group in the middle part (2.63 ± 1.54 MPa). One-way ANOVA showed that within the same root region, the time of post-cementation had a negative influence on the bonding strength in the SP groups in the middle and apical portion (P<0.05), however, when comparing the effect of type of sealers on bonding strength between the OW groups or IM groups within the same root region, no significant difference was observed regardless of the post cementation time (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS The bond strength of the fiber post was higher when the post was cemented immediately after root canal treatment when the bioceramic sealer was applied. CLINICAL RELEVANCE The correct choice of an endodontic sealer and the proper time of post-cementation may help to obtain the best quality of post-and-core restoration.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To assess the influence of different sealers used in root canal filling, in terms of bond strength (BS) to dentin, after restoration of weakened roots using resin composite (RC) and fiber posts. MATERIAL AND METHODS Roots of 39 maxillary incisors were used. After root canal preparation, root dentin was flared to produce a space between fiber post and root canal walls. The root canals were randomly distributed into three groups (n = 13), according to the sealer used: Endofill, AH Plus, and Acroseal. After removing the filling material to a depth of 12 mm, the flared roots were adhesively restored using RC. Posts were cemented and, after 24 h, roots were sectioned transversely producing 1-mm-thick slices. The slices from 30 roots were used for push-out test, and failure modes were noted. The remaining slices were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). RESULTS Statistical analysis by 2-way ANOVA showed a significant difference among sealers (p = 0.001) and among root regions (p < 0.001). The BS mean of Endofill was lower and significantly different from the others. Overall, the coronal region presented higher BS mean values, followed by the middle and apical regions of the reinforced roots. The most frequent failure type was the adhesive failure between RC and dentin. SEM analysis showed the formation of a hybrid layer and many tags in the coronal and middle regions, while the apical region exhibited remnants of the endodontic sealers in all groups. CONCLUSIONS AH Plus and Acroseal sealer groups presented similar results, and the Endofill sealer negatively affected the BS of fiber post to restored root dentin. CLINICAL RELEVANCE Weakened dentin walls are often found in teeth undergoing endodontic treatment, so the sealer used must allow or at least not interfere the bonding between restorative materials and root dentin.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study evaluated the influence of endodontic sealers with different chemical compositions on bond strength of resin cement/glass fiber post junction to root dentin. MATERIALS AND METHODS Seventy-two maxillary canines roots were instrumented with Reciproc (#R50) and distributed in 6 groups (n = 12) according to endodontic sealers: G1-control (no sealer); G2-Endofill; G3-Sealapex; G4-AH Plus; G5-Sealer Plus; G6-EndoSequence BC. The glass fiber post was cemented with Panavia F in 10 of the specimens. Two specimens from each group did not receive post and were analyzed by SEM to verify presence of filling material. Three slices were obtained from each third. The first slice was subjected to push-out test and type of failure. The second slice was imaged using laser confocal microscopy for evaluation of dentin/resin cement adhesive interface. Bond strength (BS) data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA and Tukey's post hoc tests; for LCM data, we used Kruskal-Wallis and Dunn's tests. RESULTS Endofill yielded the lowest BS values (p < 0.05). The control and AH Plus groups differed from all others (p < 0.05). In all groups, adhesive to dentin failure predominated. Most specimens of control and AH Plus groups had acceptable interfaces, while those of EndoSequence BC, Sealapex, and Sealer Plus groups ranged between acceptable and poor interfaces. Overall, few filling material remnants were observed on the dentin. CONCLUSION EndoSequence BC, Sealapex, Sealer Plus, and Endofill negatively interfere with BS of glass fiber post/resin cement junction to root dentin. CLINICAL RELEVANCE In cases whose restoration planning includes a post cemented with resin cement, it is recommended that endodontic sealer be based on epoxy resin.

Abstract
Introduction: Dentinal canal walls are in direct contact with endodontic sealers prior to post space preparation and luting cements after post space preparation. This direct contact may affect the bond strength of intraradicular posts to root dentin. This study aimed to assess the effect of three different sealers on the bond strength of fiber posts to root dentin. Methods and Materials: The canals of 56 extracted single-rooted human premolars after selection and decoronation were prepared. For obturation of the canals, specimens were randomly divided into four groups (n=14) according to the type of sealer used in conjunction with gutta-percha: group 1 (control) without any sealer; group 2 with AH-Plus sealer (resin based); group 3 with Dorifill sealer (ZOE-based); and group 4 with BC Sealer (calcium silicate-based). Nine mm-deep post space was prepared in the canal of each specimen. Intraradicular fiber posts were cemented using dual-cure resin cement (Panavia F2.0). Sections of 1 mm thickness were made at the coronal, middle and apical thirds of the post space of each specimen. The push-out bond strength of post to root dentin was measured in a universal testing machine. The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and post-hoc Tukey’s test. Results: The mean push-out bond strength in the coronal third was significantly lower in Dorifill group compared to AH-Plus (P=0.004). This value was significantly lower in BC Sealer group than AH-Plus (P=0.000) and control group (P=0.03). In middle and apical thirds, the mean push-out bond strength was not significantly different among the four groups (P=0.407, P=0.065, respectively). The mean push-out bond strength was significantly lower in apical than coronal third in AH-Plus group (P=0.001). Conclusion: Application of BC Sealer and Dorifill decreased the mean push-out bond strength of intracanal post to root dentin in the coronal third in comparison to AH-Plus.

Abstract
Introduction: The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effect of MTA-based sealer (MTA Fillapex), eugenol-based sealer (Dorifill) and an epoxy resin sealer (AH Plus) on the bond strength of fiber posts cemented with a self-etch adhesive. Materials and Methods: The root canals of 72 maxillary incisors were prepared using the step-back technique after removing/cutting off the crowns. The samples were randomly divided to 4 groups (n=18). In group 1 (the controls) gutta-percha was used without sealer. In groups 2, 3 and 4, the canals were filled with gutta-percha using AH Plus, Dorifill and MTA Fillapex sealers, respectively, by cold lateral compaction technique. After post space preparation, the fiber posts were cemented in the root canals using self-etch adhesive. Then 1-mm-thick disks were prepared from the coronal thirds of all the root canals and subjected to a push-out test. Data were analyzed using the one-way ANOVA and post hoc Tukey’s tests. Results: The maximum (4.45±0.09 MPa) and minimum (1.02±0.03 MPa) bond strength values were recorded in the control and Dorifill groups, respectively. The mean push-out bond strength values were similar for MTA Fillapex and AH Plus sealers (P>0.05). However these values were significantly higher than that of the Dorifill sealer (P<0.05). Conclusion: Sealer type affected the bond strength of the fiber posts and MTA Fillapex decreased the dislodgment resistant of the fiber post.

Abstract
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Currently, no standard luting protocol exists for fiber posts. In addition, no agreement has been reached on the time interval between canal obturation and post space preparation and cementation. PURPOSE The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the retention of fiber posts cemented with 3 different types of cement: Paracore, Variolink II, and RelyX Unicem cement after 24 hours or 2 weeks in root canals obturated with gutta percha and a eugenol-based sealer. MATERIAL AND METHODS Seventy-two caries-free, freshly extracted, single-rooted human mandibular first premolar teeth with straight root canals were prepared and obturated with gutta percha and Endofil sealer. Specimens were divided into 2 groups (n=36): post spaces prepared 24 hours after obturation and post spaces prepared 2 weeks after obturation. Posts in both groups were luted with 1 of 3 different luting agents (n=12), ParaCore, Variolink II, or RelyX Unicem cement. Each tooth specimen was vertically secured in a universal testing machine, and a constant pull-out loading rate of 0.5 mm/min was applied until cement failure occurred. Data were statistically analyzed with 2-way and 1-way ANOVAs and t tests. RESULTS Two-way ANOVA indicated statistically significant differences in mean post retention among the 3 cement types (P<.001) and among the means of the different time intervals investigated (P<.001). Significant differences were noted among all cement types tested between the 24-hour and 2-week time intervals (P<.05). CONCLUSIONS Time elapsed between canal obturation and post cementation significantly influenced fiber post retention, regardless of the type of resin cement. Fiber posts showed significantly higher retention if cemented after 24 hours of obturation than if cementation occurred after 2 weeks.

Abstract
AIM The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of endodontic retreatment on push-out bond strength and dentin interface of two resin cements used for fiber postcementation during endodontic retreatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS The root canals of 40 extracted human canines were prepared, obturated and divided into four groups (n = 10). Gutta-percha was partially removed and fiber posts were immediately cemented in groups 1 and 2 using Panavia F with ED Primer and RelyX™ U200, respectively. In groups 3 and 4, the root canal access was sealed with temporary restorative cement, specimens were stored for 30 days, endodontically retreated, and fiber posts were cemented using the resin cements applied to groups 1 and 2, respectively. Push-out tests and scanning electron microscopy analyses of different areas were performed. Data from push-out bond strengths were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance and Tukey's tests. RESULTS Higher bond strength values were detected in the apical third for group 1 than group 3 (p < 0.05). No differences were observed in other comparisons between the same third of different groups (p > 0.05). Comparisons between different thirds in the same group revealed a higher bond strength in the apical third for group 1. Scanning electron microscopy showed formation of hybrid layer and extensive resin tags in group 1. No hybrid layer was observed in groups 2 and 4. CONCLUSION Endodontic retreatment had adverse effects on the push-out bond strength and dentinal interface of Panavia F with ED Primer when used for fiber postcementation specifically in the apical third, but not on RelyX™ U200. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE A significant interaction was detected between endodontic retreatment and resin cement, which indicated that endodontic retreatment might adversely affect the push-out bond strength and dentinal interface of Panavia F with ED Primer when used for fiber postcementation specifically in the apical third.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The detachment of fiber posts from root canals is primarily caused by the loss of adhesion between dentin and cement; therefore, the purpose of this study was to formulate a novel resin cement that improves the bond strength of fiber posts to the dentin-cement interface. METHODS Three concentrations (30, 35, and 40wt.%) of bis[2-(methacryloyloxy)-ethyl] phosphate (2MP) were prepared as dentin bonding agent components. Isobornyl acrylate (IBOA) and ethylhexylacrylate (EHA) were used as key components to fabricate the resin cement (named IE cement). The adhesive strengths of IE cement to coronal and root canal dentin were tested after placement of specimens in a water bath at 100% humidity and 37°C for either 24h or 5 months. The microtensile bond test, the push-out bond test, and the fracture toughness test were performed. Four commercially available resin cements (Nexus(®) third generation (NX3), Variolink II, RelyX Unicem, and Panavia F 2.0) were used for comparisons. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was used to analyze the interaction of collagen extracted from human dentin and 2MP as well as the fracture surfaces of the specimens submitted to the microtensile bond test. RESULTS The 35% concentration of 2MP, in combination with IBOA and EHA, was the most effective for improving the IE cement's bond strength to dentin. The XPS results revealed that the phosphate groups of 2MP formed hydrogen bonds with the collagen and that such bonds prominently decreased in number in the specimens that were stored for 5 months. SIGNIFICANCE The combination of 2MP, IBOA, and EHA can effectively increase the adhesive strength of IE cement to dentin via hydrogen bond formation.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of gutta-percha solvents on the bond strength of fiberglass post to root canal dentin. Forty bovine incisors were decoronated, prepared, filled, and randomly distributed into four groups (n = 10) according to the gutta-percha solvent used: control, xylene, eucalyptol and orange oil. After root canal treatment, the posts were cemented into the prepared root canals using a resin-based cement. A micro push-out test was executed, and the patterns of failure were assessed with microscopy. The data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA followed by Tukey's test. The control group exhibited greater bond strength compared to the eucalyptol group in the cervical and middle thirds of the root (P < 0.05); however, it did not differ significantly from the xylene and orange oil groups (P > 0.05). No difference was observed in the values of the xylene, orange oil, and eucalyptol groups (P > 0.05). The cervical third had higher values than the apical third for all tested solvents (P < 0.05). Adhesive failure between resin cement and dentin was the most frequent type of failure. The use of xylene and orange oil as gutta-percha solvents did not influence the bond strength of fiberglass posts to root canal dentin.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the effect of adjunctive application of ethanol-wet bonding and chlorhexidine (CHX) with a hydrophobic adhesive on bond durability of fibre posts to intraradicular dentine. METHODS Ninety-six extracted human teeth with a single root and root canal were prepared for post placement after endodontic treatment. The teeth were randomly divided into four groups (n=24) after etching and rinsing for rewetting: Group 1: water-wet bonding, Group 2: water-wet bonding with CHX, Group 3: ethanol-wet bonding and Group 4: ethanol-wet bonding with CHX. Teeth in Groups 1 and 2 were treated with either distilled water or distilled water with 2% CHX for 60 s; while teeth in Groups 3 and 4 were treated with either 100% ethanol or 100% ethanol with 2% CHX. Two coats of primer, followed by neat resin were applied and light-cured for 40 s. Fibre posts were luted to bonded root dentine using dual-cure resin cement. Bonded roots were subjected to push-out bond strength testing and interfacial nanoleakage evaluation after 24 h, 6 and 12 months of storage. Data were analyzed using 3-way ANOVA (rewetting solutions, time and post space regions) and SNK tests. RESULTS Groups 3 and 4 showed significantly (p<0.05) higher bond strengths and lower nanoleakage than Groups 1 and 2 after 12 months of ageing. Addition of 2% chlorhexidine to ethanol-wet bonding with a hydrophobic adhesive did not further improve the bonding of a fibre post to intraradicular dentine, when compared to ethanol-wet bonding alone after 12 months of ageing. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE Ethanol-wet bonding with a hydrophobic adhesive alone could improve the bond durability of fibre post to intraradicular dentine and therefore would increase the success rate of post and core restorations of endodontically treated teeth.

Abstract
PURPOSE Over the past years, the adhesion of fiber posts luted with simplified adhesive systems has been a matter of great interest. The aim of this study was to assess the post retentive potential of a self-adhesive resin cement using different adhesive systems to compare the push-out bond strengths of fiber posts. MATERIALS AND METHODS The post spaces of 56 mandibular premolar roots were prepared and divided into 4 experimental groups and further divided into 2 subgroups according to testing time (n=7). The fiber posts (Rely X Fiber Post) were luted with a self-adhesive resin cement (RelyX Unicem) and one of the following adhesive systems: no adhesive, a total-etch adhesive resin (Single Bond), a two-step self-etch adhesive resin (Clearfil SE Bond) and a one-step self-etch adhesive resin (Clearfil S3 Bond). Each root was cut horizontally, and 1.5 mm thick six root segments were prepared. Push-out tests were performed after one week or three months (0.5 mm/min). Statistical analysis were performed with three-way ANOVA (α=.05). RESULTS Cervical root segments showed higher bond strength values than middle segments. Adhesive application increased the bond strength. For one week group, the total-etch adhesive resin Single Bond showed higher bond strength than the self-adhesive resin cement RelyX Unicem applied without adhesive resin at middle region. For 3 months group, the two-step self-etch adhesive resin Clearfil SE Bond showed the highest bond strength for both regions. Regarding the time considered, Clearfil SE Bond 3 months group showed higher bond strength values than one week group. CONCLUSION Using the adhesive resins in combination with the self-adhesive resin cement improves the bond strengths. The bond strength values of two-step self-etch adhesive resin Clearfil SE Bond improved as time passes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to assess the effect of the iRoot SP root canal sealer on the push-out bond strength of fibre posts cemented with self-adhesive resin cement. METHODS Forty-eight extracted maxillary incisors were randomly divided into four groups according to the tested sealer (n = 12): group 1 - control (only gutta-percha points, no sealer); group 2 - AH Plus Jet (resin-based sealer); group 3 - Endofill (zinc oxide-eugenol-based sealer); and group 4 - iRoot SP (calcium silicate-based sealer). All root canals were filled with gutta-percha, and groups 2-4 additionally received one of the sealers. Fibre posts were cemented with the self-adhesive resin cement Clearfil SA Cement. The specimens were sectioned in the coronal, middle and apical regions, producing three slices of 1 mm thickness. The push-out test was performed. All data were submitted to ANOVA and Tukey tests (α = 0.05). RESULTS No statistically significant differences were found between the control group, AH Plus Jet and iRoot SP (p > 0.05). The Endofill sealer showed significantly lower bond strength compared to the other sealers and the control group (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS The calcium silicate-based sealer did not adversely affect the bond strength of the fibre posts cemented with self-adhesive resin cement.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The aim of this study was to evaluate the push-out bond strengths of a new polyfiber post system and a fiber post that were adhesively luted with a dual-cure resin cement. METHODS Forty single-rooted human maxillary teeth were sectioned below the cementoenamel junction, and the roots were endodontically treated. The roots were randomly divided into 2 groups of 20 specimens each according to the post type used: SpiraPost (group A; DMG, Englewood, NJ) and DT Light-Post Illusion X-RO (group B; Bisco Inc, Schaumburg, IL). All posts were cemented with dual-cure resin cement. Bonded specimens were cut into 1-mm-thick sections, and push-out tests were performed using a universal testing machine. All specimens were loaded until fracture, and the failure modes were evaluated with a stereomicroscope at 50× magnification. Representative specimens were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. RESULTS Push-out bond strength was significantly affected by the type of post (P < .05). In all root sections, the SpiraPost push-out bond strength values were significantly higher than that those of DT Light-Post Illusion X-RO (P < .05). Cohesive failure within the post was the most frequent type of failure for the SpiraPost system. CONCLUSIONS In all root segments, the SpiraPost system provided significantly increased post retention compared with the fiber post.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study evaluated in vitro the influence of an eugenol-based sealer (EndoFill) on the retention of stainless steel prefabricated posts cemented with zinc phosphate and resin-based (Panavia F) cements after different periods of root canal obturation, using the pull-out test. MATERIAL AND METHODS Sixty upper canines were decoronated and the roots were embedded in resin blocks. The specimens were distributed into 3 groups, according to the period elapsed between canal obturation and post cementation: Group I - immediately; Group II - 72 h and Group III - 4 months. The groups were subdivided according to the type of cement used for post cementation: A - zinc phosphate and B - Panavia F. Following the experimental periods, specimens were subjected to pullout test in an Instron machine with application of tensile force at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min until post dislodgement. The maximum forces required for post removal were recorded (kN) and means were subjected to statistical analysis by 2-way ANOVA and Tukey-Kramer test (alpha=0.001) RESULTS There were statistically significant differences (p<0.01) between the posts cemented with zinc phosphate cement (0.2112 kN) and Panavia F (0.0501 kN). However, no statistically significant differences (p>0.05) were found between the three post cementation periods, regardless of the cement. CONCLUSIONS It was concluded that the eugenol-based sealer influenced the tensile strength of the posts cemented with the resin cement, but had no influence on the time waited between root canal obturation and post space preparation/post cementation.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION This study evaluated the bond strength of translucent fiber posts to experimentally weakened radicular dentin restored with composite resin and polymerized with different light-exposure time. METHODS Roots of 60 maxillary incisors were used. Twenty-four hours after obturation, the filling materials of root canals were removed to a depth of 12 mm, and 4 groups were randomly formed. In 3 groups, root dentin was flared to produce a space between fiber post and canal walls. In the control group, the roots were not experimentally weakened. The flared roots were bulk restored with composite resin, which was light-activated through the translucent post for 40, 80, or 120 seconds. Posts were cemented, and after 24 hours, all roots were sectioned transversely in the coronal, middle, and apical regions, producing 1-mm-thick slices. Push-out test was performed, and failure modes were observed. RESULTS The quantitative analysis showed significant statistical difference only among groups (P < .001). Comparing the weakened/restored groups, composite light-exposure time did not influence the results. Overall, adhesive failures occurred more frequently than other types of failures. Cohesive failures occurred only in the weakened/restored roots. CONCLUSIONS Intracanal root restoration with composite resin and translucent fiber posts provided similar or higher bond strength to dentin than the control group, regardless of the light-exposure time used for polymerization.
