Abstract
The six-membered cyclo-hexene ring in the title compound, C(22)H(22)BrNOS(2), adopts an envelope conformation, with the C atom bearing the two methyl groups representing the flap. This atom deviates by 0.686 (4) Å from the plane passing through the other five atoms of the ring (r.m.s. deviation = 0.025 Å). The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by an intra-molecular N-H⋯S hydrogen bond.

Abstract
This study aimed at the synthesis of novel structurally promising steroidal heterocycles and to elucidate the potential role of these compounds as antibacterial agents. Epi-androsterone 1 reacted with CS2 and sodium hydride in dimethylsulfoxide to yield alpha-oxoketene dithiodisodium salt 2. The non-isolable salt 2 reacted with acetyl chloride, benzoyl chloride, phenacyl bromide and iodomethane to afford the corresponding alpha-oxodithioacetal derivatives 4a,b, 6 and 7, respectively. Interaction of 2 with the alkyl halide reagents 8a-d yielded the corresponding thiophene derivatives 10a-d. Alpha-oxoketene dithioacetal 7 reacted with urea and thiourea to furnish the pyrimidinoandrostane derivatives 12a,b. Compound 7 also reacted with ortho-phenylene diamine and ortho-aminophenol 13a,b to produce the dinucleophilic adducts 15a,b. The in vitro antibacterial evaluation of some newly prepared compounds showed that all compounds have high significant antibacterial activity against the used strains of gram positive and gram negative bacteria.

Abstract
The protected 2-formyl-L-arabinal 2 reacted with thiourea and cyanamide in the presence of sodium hydride to afford via ring transformations the 5-[1R,2S-1,2-bis(benzyloxy)-3-hydroxypropyl]-1,2-dihydropyrimidines 3 and 4, respectively. Similarly, treatment of 2 with 3-amino-2H-1,2,4-triazole yielded 6-[1R,2S-1,2-bis(benzyloxy)-3-hydroxypropyl][1,2,4]-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine (5).

Abstract
The synthesis of steroidal heterocycles containing the pyrazole and pyrimidine ring fused to the 16,17-position of the steroid nucleus is reported. Androstenolone acetate (1) reacted with carbon disulfide, iodomethane and sodium hydride to furnish 3β-acetoxy-16-[bis(methylthio)methylene]-5-androst-5-en-17-one (2). The reactions of 2 with hydrazine hydrate and methylhydrazine afforded the 5’-methylthio- pyrazolo[4’,3’:16,17]androst-5-en-3β-ols 3a and 3b, respectively.
