Synthesis of 1,4-dihydro-4-oxopyridazino[1,6-a]indole-3-carboxylic acids and 1,4-dihydro-4-oxopyrido[3′,2′:4,5]pyrrolo[1,2-b]-pyridazine-3-carboxylic acids as potential antibacterial agents

N-Amination of Pyrrole and Indole Heterocycles with Monochloramine (NH2Cl)

A survey of several electrophilic ammonia reagents for the N-amination of indole- and pyrrole-containing heterocycles revealed that monochloramine (NH(2)Cl) is an excellent reagent for this transformation. Pyrroles and indoles containing a variety of substitution were aminated on nitrogen with isolated yields ranging from 45% to 97%.

Synthesis and antibacterial activity of 2-aryl-2,5-dihydro-3(3H)-oxo-pyridazino[4,3-b]indole-4-carboxylic acids

The in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activities of a series of pyridazinoindolonic acids II against some selected representative of Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacteria and fungi have been investigated. Some interesting observations among the structural features necessary for high antibacterial activity are presented and discussed.
