These substances have been found in a variety of bodily fluids and tissues, demonstrating their systemic dispersion. Being exposed to these cosmetic pollutants has been linked in recent research to neurotoxicity, including cognitive decline and neurodevelopmental problems. A vital part of sustaining gut health and general well-being is the gut flora. Increased intestinal permeability, persistent inflammation, and impaired metabolism may result from disruption of the gut microbial environment, which may in turn contribute to neurotoxicity. The link between gastrointestinal dysbiosis and the neurotoxic effects brought on by cosmetic pollutants may be explained by a number of processes, primarily the gut-brain axis. For the purpose of creating preventative and therapeutic measures, it is crucial to comprehend the intricate interactions involving cosmetic pollutants, gastrointestinal dysbiosis, and neurotoxicity. This review provides an in-depth understanding of the various hazardous cosmetic pollutants and its potential role in the occurrence of neurological disorders via gastrointestinal dysbiosis, providing insights into various described and hypothetical mechanisms regarding the complex toxic effects of these industrial pollutants.

Decolorization of various dyes by microorganisms and green-synthesized nanoparticles: current and future perspective

Various types of colored pigments have been recovered naturally from biological sources including shells, flowers, insects, and so on in the past. At present, such natural colored substances (dyes) are replaced by manmade dyes. On the other hand, due to their continuous usage in various purpose, these artificial dyes or colored substances persist in the environmental surroundings. For example, industrial wastewater contains diverse pollutant substances including dyes. Several of these (artificial dyes) were found to be toxic to living organisms. In recent times, microbial-based removal of dye(s) has gained more attention. These methods were relatively inexpensive for eliminating such contaminants in the environmental system. Hence, various researchers were isolated microbes from environmental samples having the capability of decolorizing synthetic dyes from industrial wastewater. Furthermore, the microorganisms which are genetically engineered found higher degradative/decolorize capacity to target compounds in the natural environs. Very few reviews are available on specific dye treatment either by chemical treatments or by bacteria and/or fungal treatments. Here, we have enlightened literature reports on the removal of different dyes in microbes like bacteria (including anaerobic and aerobic), fungi, GEM, and microbial enzymes and also green-synthesized nanoparticles. This up-to-date literature survey will help environmental managements to co-up such contaminates in nature and will help in the decolorization of dyes.

Next-Generation Organic Beauty Products Obtained from Algal Secondary Metabolites: A Sustainable Development in Cosmeceutical Industries

Algae lay over most of the earth's habitats, and it is said that there are more algal cells in water than there are stars in the sky. They are among the wealthiest marine resources that are to be deemed harmless, with hardly any deleterious consequences. Recently, they have received a lot of consideration to be used in cosmeceuticals. Cosmetics encompass synthetic concoctions that are extremely toxic to the environment. Due to their higher molecular size, synthetic cosmetic items induce undesirable side effects and inadequate absorption rates. Consequently, utilizing algae or their secondary metabolites in cosmetics has won multiple votes. Various secondary metabolites synthesized from algae are known to provide skin advantages, such as ultraviolet protection and reduction of skin flaccidity, rough texture, and wrinkles. The tangent drawn here using algae reduces the inorganic/organic chemicals used in the industry that are known to accumulate and affect other organisms and thus opens a pandora's box of ways to a less-polluted environment. The alga is indeed very intriguing. According to the reported studies, algal cells provide biosorption, bio-assimilation, biotransformation, and biodegradation, making them suitable for the eradication of chronic and harmful contaminants from the environment. Another rapid innovation is the product's sustainability. While presenting and marketing new algal products, cosmetics producers have greatly highlighted that they are eco-friendly. This review thus accentuates the significance of using algae and their secondary metabolites in cosmetics to produce extensive variety of products that include sunscreens, moisturizers, anti-aging creams, colorants, and hair care items and extensive insight on the possible remedial capacities of algae species against environmentally dangerous substances in the context of cosmetic chemicals.
