Abstract
In this study, the solubilities of Regorafenib monohydrate (REG), a widely used as a colorectal anticancer drug, in supercritical carbon dioxide (ScCO2) were measured under various pressures and temperature conditions, for the first time. The minimum value of REG in mole fraction was determined to be 3.06×10-7, while the maximum value was found to be 6.44×10-6 at 338 K and 27 MPa. The experimental data for REG were correlated through the utilization of two types of models: (1) a set of 25 existing empirical and semi-empirical models that incorporated 3-8 parameters according to functional dependencies, (2) a model that relied on solid-liquid equilibrium (SLE) and the newly improved association models. All of the evaluated models were capable of generating suitable fits to the solubility data of REG, however, the average absolute relative deviation (AARD) of Gordillo et al. model (AARD=13.2%) and Reddy et al. model (AARD=13.5%) indicated their superiority based on AARD%. Furthermore, solvation and sublimation enthalpies of REG drug were estimated for the first time.

Abstract
A static method is employed to determine the solubilities of verapamil in supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) at temperatures between 308 and 338 K and pressures between 12 and 30 MPa. The solubility of verapamil in SC-CO2 expressed as mole fraction are in the range of 3.6 × 10-6 to 7.14 × 10-5. Using four semi-empirical density-based models, the solubility data are correlated: Chrastil, Bartle, Kumar-Johnston (K-J), and Mendez-Santiago and Teja (MST), two equations of state (SRK and PC-SAFT EoS), expanded liquid models (modified Wilson's models), and regular solution model. The obtained results indicated that the regular solution and PC-SAFT models showed the most noteworthy exactness with AARD% of 1.68 and 7.45, respectively. The total heat, vaporization heat, and solvation heat of verapamil are calculated at 39.62, 60.03, and - 20.41 kJ/mol, respectively. Regarding the poor solubility of verapamil in SC-CO2, supercritical anti-solvent methods can be an appropriate choice to produce fine particles of this drug.

Abstract
The solubility of compounds in supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-[Formula: see text]) has found crucial significance in the fabrication of micro/nano-scaled drugs. In this research, the solubility of Aripiprazole was measured in SC-[Formula: see text] at various temperatures (308-338 K) and pressures (12-30 MPa). Moreover, the experimental solubility results were correlated with several semi-empirical models (Chrastil, Bartle et al., Kumar & Johnston, Menden-Santiago & Teja, Sodeifian et al., and Jouyban et al.) as well as the modified Wilson model. The molar fraction of the drug in SC-[Formula: see text] varied in the range of [Formula: see text] to [Formula: see text]. The solubility highly depended on the operating pressure and temperature. The Chrastil (0.994), Jouyban et al. (0.993) and Sodeifian et al. (0.992) models showed the highest consistency with the obtained values. Furthermore, self-consistency tests were performed on the solubility of Aripiprazole in SC-[Formula: see text]. The approximate total enthalpy ([Formula: see text]), vaporization enthalpy ([Formula: see text]), and solubility enthalpy ([Formula: see text]) were also calculated.

Abstract
This study introduces a universal correlation based on the modified version of the Arrhenius equation to estimate the solubility of anti-cancer drugs in supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2). A combination of an Arrhenius-shape term and a departure function was proposed to estimate the solubility of anti-cancer drugs in supercritical CO2. This modified Arrhenius correlation predicts the solubility of anti-cancer drugs in supercritical CO2 from pressure, temperature, and carbon dioxide density. The pre-exponential of the Arrhenius linearly relates to the temperature and carbon dioxide density, and its exponential term is an inverse function of pressure. Moreover, the departure function linearly correlates with the natural logarithm of the ratio of carbon dioxide density to the temperature. The reliability of the proposed correlation is validated using all literature data for solubility of anti-cancer drugs in supercritical CO2. Furthermore, the predictive performance of the modified Arrhenius correlation is compared with ten available empirical correlations in the literature. Our developed correlation presents the absolute average relative deviation (AARD) of 9.54% for predicting 316 experimental measurements. On the other hand, the most accurate correlation in the literature presents the AARD = 14.90% over the same database. Indeed, 56.2% accuracy improvement in the solubility prediction of the anti-cancer drugs in supercritical CO2 is the primary outcome of the current study.

Abstract
The novel particle generation processes of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API)/drug have been extensively explored in recent decades due to their wide-range applications in the pharmaceutical industry. The Rapid Expansion of Supercritical Solutions (RESS) is one of the promising techniques to obtain the fine particles (micro to nano-size) of APIs with narrow particle size distribution (PSD). In RESS, supercritical carbon dioxide (SC CO2) and API are used as solvent and solute respectively. In this literature survey, the application of RESS in the formation of fine particles is critically reviewed. Solubility of API in SC CO2 and supersaturation are the key factors in tuning the particle size. The different approaches to model and predict the solubility of API in SC CO2 are discussed. Then, the effect of process parameters on mean particle size and the particle size distribution are interpreted in the context of solubility and supersaturation. Furthermore, the less-explored applications of RESS in preparation of solid-lipid nanoparticles, liposome, polymorphic conversion, cocrystallization and inclusion complexation are compared with traditional processes. The solubility enhancement of API in SC CO2 using co-solvent and its applications in particle generation are explored in published literature. The development and modifications in the conventional RESS process to overcome the limitations of RESS are presented. Finally, the perspective on RESS with special attention to its commercial operation is highlighted.

Abstract
One of the main steps in choosing the drug nanoparticle production processes by supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) is determining the solubility of the solid solute. For this purpose, the solubility of Ketoconazole (KTZ) in the SC-CO2, binary system, as well as in the SC-CO2-menthol (cosolvent), ternary system, was measured at 308–338 K and 12–30 MPa using the static analysis method. The KTZ solubility in the SC-CO2 ranged between 0.20 × 10–6 and 8.02 × 10–5, while drug solubility in the SC-CO2 with cosolvent varied from 1.2 × 10–5 to 1.96 × 10–4. This difference indicated the significant effect of menthol cosolvent on KTZ solubility in the SC-CO2. Moreover, KTZ solubilities in the two systems were correlated by several empirical and semiempirical models. Among them, Sodeifian et al., Bian et al., MST, and Bartle et al. models can more accurately correlate experimental data for the binary system than other used models. Also, the Sodeifian and Sajadian model well fitted the solubility data of the ternary system with AARD% = 6.45, Radj = 0.995.

Abstract
Decaffeination of fresh green tea was carried out with supercritical CO2 in the presence of ethanol as co-solvent. The solubility of caffeine in supercritical CO2 varied from 44.19 × 10(-6) to 149.55 × 10(-6) (mole fraction) over a pressure and temperature range of 15 to 35 MPa and 313 to 333 K, respectively. The maximum solubility of caffeine was obtained at 25 MPa and 323 K. Experimental solubility data were correlated with the theoretical equation of state models Peng-Robinson (PR), Soave Redlich-Kwong (SRK), and Redlich-Kwong (RK). The RK model had regressed experimental data with 15.52 % average absolute relative deviation (AARD). In contrast, Gordillo empirical model regressed the best to experimental data with only 0.96 % AARD. Under supercritical conditions, solubility of caffeine in tea matrix was lower than the solubility of pure caffeine. Further, solubility of caffeine in supercritical CO2 was compared with solubility of pure caffeine in conventional solvents and a maximum solubility 90 × 10(-3) mol fraction was obtained with chloroform.

Abstract
Supercritical fluid extraction (SCFE), based on the utilization of a fluid under supercritical conditions, is a technology suitable for extraction and purification of a variety of compounds, particularly those that have low volatility and/or are susceptible to thermal degradation. The interest in SCFE is promoted by legal limitations of conventional solvents for food and pharmaceutical uses. The physicochemical properties of supercritical CO2 (higher diffusivity, lower viscosity, and lower surface tension than conventional solvents) facilitate mass transfer and allow an environmentally friendly operation. This article presents a comprehensive compilation of data on the supercritical CO2 extraction of antioxidant compounds from vegetal materials, with particular attention to those of a phenolic nature. Aspects concerning the supercritical operation for extraction and fractionation of antioxidants compounds are considered, including equilibrium solubility of pure compounds and effects of the operational conditions on the antioxidant activity of isolated fractions. The data are compared to those reported for synthetic antioxidants and natural extracts obtained by conventional solvent extraction from vegetal matrices.

Abstract
Applicability of a previously published equation for calculating the solubility of solutes in supercritical carbon dioxide was extended to calculate the solubility in entrained supercritical carbon dioxide employing 42 experimental data sets collected from the literature. The accuracy of the proposed model was evaluated by calculating both the average absolute relative deviation and the individual absolute relative deviation. The proposed model showed superiority to a previously published similar model, from both correlation and prediction points of view.

Abstract
Super- and subcritical carbon dioxide (CO2) extractions of crude drugs were simulated by molecular modelling to predict the extractability of different hydrophilic plant constituents under various extraction conditions. The CO2 extraction fluids were simulated either with pure CO2 or with solvent modified CO2 at different pressures and temperatures. Molecular modelling resulted in three different solubility parameters: the total solubility parameter delta and the partial solubility parameters delta(d) for the van der Waals and delta(EL) for the polar forces. Thus, delta(EL) enabled the estimation of the polarity of the extraction fluids and the solute molecules. If the value of delta(EL) of the extraction fluid reached the value of the solute molecule in the crude drug, i.e. minimum extraction value, the compound was soluble at the distinct extraction conditions. For a further increase in yield of the hydrophilic solutes, the polarity of the extraction fluid had to be increased, too. That means delta(EL) of the fluid exceeded the minimum extraction value. All simulations were verified by CO2 extractions of the secondary roots of Harpagophytum procumbens (harpagoside, stachyose) and the seeds of Aesculus hippocastanum (aescin). CO2 extractions of the flowers of Matricaria recutita ((-)-alpha-bisabolol) were obtained from literature data. These four constituents with different properties, like molecular size and the allocation of polar functional groups were extracted, analysed, simulated and the extract content was correlated with the extraction fluid used, respectively.
