Abstract
Introduction This scoping review aims to highlight key social determinants of health associated with breast cancer screening behavior in United States women aged ≥40 years old, identify public and private databases with SDOH data at city, state, and national levels, and share lessons learned from United States based observational studies in addressing SDOH in underserved women influencing breast cancer screening behaviors. Methods The Arksey and O'Malley York methodology was used as guidance for this review: (1) identifying research questions; (2) searching for relevant studies; (3) selecting studies relevant to the research questions; (4) charting the data; and (5) collating, summarizing, and reporting results. Results The 72 included studies were published between 2013 and 2023. Among the various SDOH identified, those related to socioeconomic status (n = 96) exhibited the highest frequency. The Health Care Access and Quality category was reported in the highest number of studies (n = 44; 61%), showing its statistical significance in relation to access to mammography. Insurance status was the most reported sub-categorical factor of Health Care Access and Quality. Discussion Results may inform future evidence-based interventions aiming to address the underlying factors contributing to low screening rates for breast cancer in the United States.

Abstract
Social determinants of health (SDOH) are conditions influencing individuals' health based on their environment of birth, living, working, and aging. Addressing SDOH is crucial for promoting health equity and reducing health outcome disparities. For conditions such as stroke and cancer screening where imaging is central to diagnosis and management, access to high-quality medical imaging is necessary. This article applies a previously described structural framework characterizing the impact of SDOH on patients who require imaging for their clinical indications. SDOH factors can be broadly categorized into five sectors: economic stability, education access and quality, neighborhood and built environment, social and community context, and health care access and quality. As patients navigate the health care system, they experience barriers at each step, which are significantly influenced by SDOH factors. Marginalized communities are prone to disparities due to the inability to complete the required diagnostic or screening imaging work-up. This article highlights SDOH that disproportionately affect marginalized communities, using stroke and cancer as examples of disease processes where imaging is needed for care. Potential strategies to mitigate these disparities include dedicating resources for clinical care coordinators, transportation, language assistance, and financial hardship subsidies. Last, various national and international health initiatives are tackling SDOH and fostering health equity.

Abstract
Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) play an important role in the development of human cancer. Meanwhile, exosomes released by MSCs can mediate cell-cell communication by delivering microRNAs (miRNAs/miRs). Hence, this study aimed to explore the role of bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cell (BMSC)-derived exosomal miR-551b-3p in breast cancer. In this study, we found that upregulation of miR-551b-5p suppressed the proliferation and migration and induced the apoptosis of breast cancer cells via downregulating tripartite motif-containing protein 31 (TRIM31). In addition, miR-551b-5p could be transferred from BMSCs to breast cancer cells via exosomes; BMSC-derived exosomal miR-551b-3p suppressed the proliferation and migration and promoted the apoptosis and oxidative stress of MDA-MB-231 cells via inhibiting TRIM31. Furthermore, a xenograft mouse model was used to explore the role of BMSC-derived exosomal miR-551b-3p in vivo. We found that BMSC-derived exosomal miR-551b-3p inhibited tumor growth in a mouse xenograft model of breast cancer in vivo. Collectively, these findings indicated that BMSC-derived exosomal miR-551b-3p could suppress the development of breast cancer via downregulating TRIM31. Thus, miR-551b-3p could serve as a potential target for the treatment of breast cancer.

Abstract
Abstract
Introduction Women working in police force have unique and vital role to play in law enforcement. Although these women have established a secured place for themselves in the police force, they are exposed to several behavioral and health risks apart from job stress. All these can have potentially serious consequences on their well-being.
Objectives To determine the compliance to breast and uterine cervical cancers screening and identify predictors of participation in breast and cervical cancers screening among women police personnel.
Materials and Methods This is a cross-sectional study conducted among the Mumbai police personnel during the period 2019 to 2021. All women working for Mumbai police work force in 12 zones were invited to participate in the study. Temporary clinics for screening were set up in different police stations and eligible participants were enrolled after obtaining written informed consent. This was followed by sociodemographic and risk factor assessment, health education program, screening for common cancers conducted by trained primary health workers (breast by clinical breast examination and uterine cervix by visual inspection with 5% acetic acid). Screen positives were referred according to predefined referral criteria for further investigations and management.
Results A total of 3,017 police women were contacted, among them, 2,629 (87.14%) were eligible for screening, 2,609 (99.24%) participated in health education, and 1,839 (69.95%) complied for breast or cervical cancer screening. Further, compliance for screening of breast and uterine cervix were 1,837 (91.67%) and 1,297 (64.72%). A total of 256 (13.94%) and 217 (11.81%) police women were screen positives for breast and cervical cancers. According to multivariate logistic regression analysis, women younger than 50 years, those who were not married or were widowed or separated, postmenopausal women, and those who did not have shift duties had higher compliance for breast and cervix cancers screening.
Conclusion Good participation for breast and cervical cancers screening was seen among the women police personnel. This study has demonstrated that awareness and screening by simple low-cost methods for breast and cervical cancers screening is easily implementable and can be replicated among the women police force in different states of India.

Abstract
MicroRNA (miR)-125a-5p has shown the potential for suppressing tumorigenesis and development; however, the effects of miR-125a-5p on breast cancer cells remains unknown. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects and underlying mechanisms of miR-125a-5p in MCF-7 breast cancer cells. MCF-7 cells were transfected with miR-125a-5p mimic or miR-125a-5p small interfering RNA to produce miR-125a-5p overexpressing/knockdown cells. Cell proliferation was assessed by an MTT assay, and cell migration ability was determined by an in vitro scratch assay. Hoechst 33258 staining and flow cytometry were performed to assess the effects of miR-125a-5p on MCF-7 apoptosis. Western blotting and reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction were used for measuring phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN), phosphorylated (p)-mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase (MEK1/2)/MEK1/2, p-ERK1/2/ERK1/2, B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2), cleaved caspase-3, and miR-125a-5p expression. miR-125a-5p overexpression inhibited the proliferation and migration, but promoted the apoptosis of MCF-7 cells. These effects were associated with increases in PTEN and cleaved caspase-3 expression, and decreases in p-MEK1/2/MEK1/2, p-ERK1/2/ERK1/2, and Bcl-2. Silencing of miR-125a-5p exhibited opposing effects on MCF-7 cells. These observations suggested that miR-125a-5p participates in the regulation of multiple functions of MCF-7 cells by promoting the expression of PTEN tumor suppressor genes, activating MEK1/2/ERK1/2 signaling, and regulating caspase-3/Bcl-2 signaling. Thus, it may be a suitable target for breast cancer gene therapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Mammography screening has been shown to vary by race/ethnicity and is often thought to result from variations in access to health care. The objective of this study was to compare the prevalence of recent mammography screening among U.S. active duty servicewomen by race/ethnicity using administrative claim data from the Military Health System, which provides beneficiaries with equal access to medical care. METHODS Mammography screening use during fiscal years 2009-2010 among non-Hispanic white, non-Hispanic black, Asian/Pacific Islander, and Hispanic servicewomen was analyzed using logistic regression. RESULTS Overall, the prevalence of mammography screening during the study period was 61%. In comparison to non-Hispanic white servicewomen, Asian/Pacific Islander (OR [odds ratio] = 1.08; 95% CI [confidence interval] = 0.94-1.23) and Hispanic servicewomen (OR = 0.97; 95% CI = 0.85-1.11) were as likely and non-Hispanic black servicewomen were more likely to have a screening mammogram (OR = 1.09; 95% CI = 1.01-1.18). Screening mammography also increased with age, was highest in the Navy, was higher among officers than enlisted personnel, and did not differ by marital status. CONCLUSION Although screening was slightly higher for non-Hispanic blacks than that for non-Hispanic whites, in general, racial/ethnic differences in mammography screening were not substantial in an equal access system.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE We evaluated compliance with mammography and breast sonography and the factors related to compliance. STUDY DESIGN From August 2005 through July 2006, 1239 asymptomatic women, aged 40-49 years, were enrolled in the study. Compliance in the second year was calculated. Telephone interviews examined the impact of the women's experience during mammography or sonography on adherence to rescreening. RESULTS The rates of compliance with mammography and sonography for breast cancer screening were 73.5% and 80.1%, respectively (p=0.006). More women receiving mammography (12.2%) reported unsatisfactory results (BI-RADS category 0) than those undergoing sonography (6.2%) (p<0.001). During the telephone interview, 74.9% of the women complained of pain during mammography, but none (0%) during sonography (p<0.001); 69.8% felt embarrassed during mammography and 55.6% during sonography (p<0.001). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that pain (OR 0.096, 95% CI 0.044-0.213) and unsatisfactory examination results (BI-RADS category 0) (OR 0.042, 95% CI 0.020-0.090) were barriers to not following up mammography. Embarrassment (OR 0.645, 95% CI 0.419-0.994) and unsatisfactory examination results (OR 0.169, 95% CI 0.085-0.336) were barriers to not following up sonography. CONCLUSIONS For young Asian women with dense breast tissue, compliance with sonography for breast cancer screening was better than that with mammography.

Abstract
This study examined the role of sociodemographic characteristics, health insurance, cancer knowledge, perceived health risk, and having a recent physicians' visit on breast and cervical cancer screening utilization among a randomly selected group of Chamorro women (n = 250) residing in San Diego, California. Data were collected by a telephone survey and analyzed using multiple logistic regression models. After adjusting for covariates, having a recent full exam was the strongest predictor of having had a Pap exam in the past 2 years for women 21 years and older and a clinical breast exam in the past 2 years for women 40 years and over.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Awareness of cancer family history is dependent upon communication between family members. Communication of this information and related decision-making could be important factors influencing breast cancer risk reduction and early detection behaviors. Using survey data from 2328 women (mean age 62.5 years) from 372 families enrolled in the Minnesota breast cancer family study, we explored adult daughter's reports of breast cancer risk reduction advice received from their mothers. METHODS AND RESULTS Approximately 212 (9%) of respondents reported receiving breast cancer risk reduction advice from their mothers and 130 (89%) reported acting upon such advice. Having a mother or first degree relative (FDR) with a history of breast cancer was significantly correlated with following advice to a higher degree as compared with those not having such family history (p=0.003). Most frequently reported types of advice were to have mammograms (36%) and to have clinical breast exams (35%). Using multivariable logistic regression and after accounting for non-independence of the sample, significant independent correlates of receiving advice included younger age, having an affected mother, and having a higher perceived breast cancer risk. Receiving advice was also correlated with engaging in a higher number of health promoting behaviors and ever having received a mammogram. CONCLUSIONS Our preliminary findings are consistent with social influence theory and suggest that mother-daughter communication about reducing risk, especially among those having a FDR with breast cancer, could be a potential pathway through which breast cancer family history is associated with the adoption of breast cancer screening and risk reduction behaviors.
