Abstract
Novel grafted anion exchangers with covalently bonded hyperbranched functional layers were prepared and evaluated for the separation of monovalent standard inorganic anions and oxyhalides. Preparation of base coating included grafting highly polar N-vinylformamide to the ethylvinylbenzene-divinylbenzene (EVB-DVB) substrate surface in highly polar solvent (methanol) with subsequent hydrolysis of grafted amide polymer in basic media, which resulted in preparation of polymer chains with multiple primary amino groups. Those amino groups were used as attachment points for forming hyperbranched anion-exchange layers using 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether and primary mono- or diamine (methylamine or 1,3-diaminopropane, respectively). The effects of hyperbranching reaction cycles number on selectivity were evaluated which revealed that selectivity and capacity can be controlled independently for the covalently bonded stationary phases in contrast to electrostatically bonded phases. It was demonstrated that unlike for electrostatically bonded phases, the intentional increase of crosslink by using primary diamine instead of primary monoamine doesn't cause the shift of selectivity coefficients. It was also shown that crosslink distribution throughout the hyperbranched layer is an important factor determining selectivity of hyperbranched anion exchangers.

Abstract
A strong anion exchanger applied for ion chromatography is described by grafting methacrylamido propyl trimethyl ammonium chloride onto hydrolyzed poly(glycidyl methacrylate-divinylbenzene) substrate. The anion exchanger has been in detail characterized and the final capacity of the anion exchanger can be readily manipulated by different monomer amounts. It exhibited obvious temperature-sensitive property and large tolerance to the samples with high ionic strength. The obtained anion exchanger demonstrated effective separation ability towards the common seven inorganic anions within 12 min and high separation efficiency, e.g. 58,000 /m of theoretical plate count for chloride. Abstract
Abstract
Ion chromatography is widely used as a useful and powerful tool for the analysis of anionic and cationic components found in waters and aqueous media. The performance and selectivity of ion chromatography are based on the stationary phase column packed material. In this study, it is aimed to develop new column material with quaternary ammonium functional group based on monodisperse polymeric particles for ion chromatography and to investigate their chromatographic performance. For the analysis of inorganic anions by ion chromatography, new stationary phases macroporous monodisperse particles based on 3-chloro-2-hydroxy propylmethacrylate-co-ethylene dimethacrylate are obtained as column packing material. 3-chloro-2-hydroxy propylmethacrylate and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate are transformed to porous monodisperse particle form by using glycidyl methacrylate as the seed latex and ethyl benzene as the porogen solvent via micro-suspension polymerization technique. Then macroporous monodisperse particles surface is functionalized by triethylamine so strong anion exchange is obtained for ion chromatography packing material. A series of stationary phases prepared from polymer particles containing different amounts of porogen solvent were tested. The results show that column packing material is successful to separate inorganic anions mixture such as F−, Cl−, NO2−, Br−, NO3− by using the carbonate and bicarbonate solutions as mobile phases.

Abstract
Oligonucleotides are used in many research areas. Thus, there is a need for their successful separation methods. Ion-exchange chromatography is the most popular separation technique, but it has limitations for these compounds. For this reason, new stationary phases are developed in order to increase separation selectivity. This study aimed to apply a series of dendrimer anion exchangers with various bonded layers to separate oligonucleotides by using different mobile phases to find conditions that allow sufficient separation. The number of anion-exchange layers, type of salt, and pH significantly impacted the oligonucleotide analysis. The developed chromatographic method was characterized by adequate selectivity for oligonucleotides differing in sequence length. It is essential to underline that the number of bonded layers appeared to have a significant influence, and the three layers appeared optimal. Based on our results, it may be concluded that the dendrimer stationary phases can be successfully used as an alternative to commonly applied packing materials in ion-exchange chromatography.

Abstract
A one-step swelling and polymerization technique was used in the synthesis of porous glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) monodisperse polymeric microspheres. The polystyrene (PS) seed obtained in the dispersion polymerization was used as a shape template. The presence of epoxide rings in the chemical structure of microspheres enables their post-polymerization chemical modifications involving: the Diels-Alder reaction with sodium cyclopentadienide and maleic anhydride, the reaction with 4,4′-(bismaleimido)diphenylmethane, and the thiol-Michael reaction with methacryloyl chloride and 2-mercaptopropionic acid. Changing the reaction mixture composition—the amounts of crosslinking monomer and PS seed as well as the type and concentration of porogen porous microspheres of different porous structures were obtained. Their porous structures were characterized in the dry and swollen states. The copolymers obtained from the equimolar monomers mixture modified in the above way were applied as the column packing materials and tested in the reverse-phase HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography). A few factors influencing morphology and porous structure of microspheres were studied.

Abstract
Removal of Cr(VI) from the environment represents a stringent issue because of its tremendous effects on living organisms. In this context, design of sorbents with high sorption capacity for Cr(VI) is getting a strong need. For this purpose, poly(vinylbenzyl chloride), impregnated into porous silica (PSi), was cross-linked with either N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-1,2-ethylenediamine (TEMED) or N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-1,3-propanediamine, followed by the reaction of the free -CH2Cl groups with N,N-diethyl-2-hydroxyethylamine to generate strong base anion exchangers (ANEX) inside the pores. The PSi/ANEX composite sorbents were deeply characterized by FTIR spectroscopy, SEM-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and water uptake. The sorption performances of composites against Cr(VI) were investigated as a function of pH, contact time, initial concentration of Cr(VI), and temperature. It was found that the cross-linker structure and the silica morphology are the key factors controlling the sorption capacity. The adsorption process was spontaneous and endothermic and well described by pseudo-second-order kinetic and Sips isotherm models. The maximum sorption capacity of 311.2 mg Cr(VI)/g sorbent was found for the composite prepared with mesoporous silica using TEMED as cross-linker. The PSi/ANEX composite sorbents represent an excellent alternative for the removal of Cr(VI) oxyanions, being endowed with fast kinetics, equilibrium in about 60 min, and a high level of reusability in successive sorption/desorption cycles.

Abstract
A silica-based reversed-phase stationary phase bonding with phenyl and tetrazole groups was synthesized by thiol-epoxy ring opening reaction. The bonded groups could not only provide hydrophobic interaction, but also π-π, hydrogen bonding, electrostatic interactions, and so on. The results of characterization with elemental analysis and solid-state 13 C cross-polarization magic-angle-spinning NMR spectroscopy indicated the successful preparation of phenyl/tetrazole sulfoether bonded stationary phase. Chromatographic evaluation revealed that phenyl/tetrazole sulfoether bonded stationary phase behaved well under the reversed-phase mode. The column parameters (H, S*, A, B, and C) showed different selectivity compared with some typical commercial columns, and it was validated by the separation of estrogen, ginsenoside, alkaloid samples. Based on the different selectivity between phenyl/tetrazole sulfoether bonded stationary phase and C18 columns, phenyl/tetrazole sulfoether bonded stationary phase also showed potential to construct a 2D reversed-phase liquid chromatography system with C18. And it was verified by the separation of corydalis tuber and curcuma zedoary extracts.

Abstract
The main aim of the present study was to develop a method for the separation of 5'-monophosphate nucleotides with the use of ion chromatography. Novel dendrimeric stationary phases were used for this purpose. The effects exerted by the type of anion-exchanger support (silica or polymeric) and the number of stationary phase layers on nucleotide retention were studied. A silica-based dendrimeric anion-exchanger was most suitable for analyzing the studied compounds. An increase in the number of layers enhanced nucleotide retention inside the column. The separation efficiency of the studied compounds was tested at various concentrations of the mobile phase buffer. At higher phosphate buffer concentrations, nucleotide resolutions were achieved in 6min. Three commercially available infant milk formulas were analyzed to verify the applicability of the studied method. Solid phase extraction was used for sample cleanup and concentration. The limit of quantification of nucleotides was 0.40μg/ml, and the method was linear in the concentration range of 0.40-20.6μgml(-1.)
