Abstract
The current research described in this paper, focuses on the development of a new quinoline-based Mannich-type benzoxazine and its use to obtain advanced carbonisation materials with a high energy storage capacity. Based on this, a quinoline-based benzoxazine monomer (Q-xda) was synthesised by a reaction between 8-hydroxyquinoline, xylylenediamine and paraformaldehyde, and it is characterised by FT-IR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. Composites were prepared from the benzoxazine and variable weight percentages of graphitic carbon nitride (GCN) (i.e., 5, 10, and 15 wt%). The oxazine ring-opening curing process of the polybenzoxazine composites, and its subsequent pyrolysis reaction was performed; and their chemical structures were confirmed using FT-IR spectroscopy. Also, the thermal and morphological characteristics of the composites were evaluated by XRD, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and SEM analyses. According to the results of the thermal experiments, adding GCN reinforcement significantly increased the thermal stability and char yield of the resultant composites. Electrochemical, and hydrophobic investigations were also carried out, and the results of these suggesting that the composites reinforced with 15 wt% GCN exhibit the highest dielectric constant (high κ = 10.2) and contact angle (145°). However, all the crosslinked composites demonstrated a remarkable electrochemical performance as pseudocapacitors. The resulting poly(Q-xda) + 15 wt% GCN electrodes showed a higher capacitance and a lower transferred charge resistance (i.e., 370 F g-1 at 6 A g-1 and 20.8 Ω) than the poly(Q-xda) electrode (i.e., 216 F g-1 at 6 A g-1 and 26.0 Ω). In addition, the poly(Q-xda) + 15% GCN exhibited a cycling efficiency of 96.2% even after 2000 cycles. From these results, it can be concluded that the constructed electrodes perform well in electrochemical operations.

Abstract
Shapeable and flexible pressure sensors with superior mechanical and electrical properties are of major interest as they can be employed in a wide range of applications. In this regard, elastomer-based composites incorporating carbon nanomaterials in the insulating matrix embody an appealing solution for designing flexible pressure sensors with specific properties. In this study, PDMS chains of different molecular weight were successfully functionalized with benzoxazine moieties in order to thermally cure them without adding a second component, nor a catalyst or an initiator. These precursors were then blended with 1 weight percent of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) using an ultrasound probe, which induced a transition from a liquid-like to a gel-like behavior as CNTs generate an interconnected network within the matrix. After curing, the resulting nanocomposites exhibit mechanical and electrical properties making them highly promising materials for pressure-sensing applications.

Abstract
One trend in agriculture is the replacement of classical pesticides with more ecofriendly solutions, such as elicitation, which is a promising approach consisting of stimulating the natural immune system of a plant to improve its resistance to pathogens. In this fashion, a library of p-coumaric-based compounds were synthesized in accordance with as many principles of green chemistry as possible. Then, these molecules were tested for (1) the direct inhibition of mycelium growth of two pathogens, Botrytis cinerea and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, and (2) plasma membrane destabilization in Arabidopsis and rapeseed. Finally, the protective effect was evaluated on an Arabidopsis/B. cinerea pathosystem. Total inhibition of the growth of both fungi could be achieved, and significant ion leakage was observed using dihydroxylated fatty p-coumarate esters. A direct effect on plants was also recorded as a ca. three-fold reduction in the necrosis area.

Abstract
This work details the scalable and solventless synthesis of a potential fully biobased monobenzoxazine resin derived from tyrosol and furfurylamine. The structure of the monomer was studied by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR). The curing of the precursors was characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), rheological measurements, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The properties of the resulting biobased polybenzoxazine were then determined by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMA). A thermally stable resin was obtained with 5% and 10% weight-reduction-temperature (Td5 and Td10) values of 349 and 395 °C, respectively, and a char yield of 53%. Moreover, the low melting temperature, low viscosity, and excellent thermomechanical behavior make this fully biobased resin a promising candidate for coating applications.

Abstract
In the present work, an attempt has been made to develop cow manure carbon-reinforced hybrid biophenol-based benzoxazine composites for antifouling coating applications. Bio-based benzoxazine with unsymmetrical molecular structure was synthesized using the mixture of a combination of cardanol and eugenol with diaminodiphenyl methane and paraformaldehyde, and the hybrid-benzoxazine obtained was characterized using different analytical techniques, viz., Fourier transform infrared, nuclear magnetic resonance and MALDI mass. Bio-based benzoxazine was further reinforced with varying weight percentages (1, 3 and 5 wt%) of biocarbon derived from cow manure to obtain hybrid composite coatings. The hybrid benzoxazine matrix and composites were studied for their thermal behaviour, contact angle (CA), morphology, corrosion-resistant behaviour and antifouling character to utilize them as coatings materials for different industrial applications. Results obtained from different studies inferred that the biocarbon-reinforced composites possess an enhanced value of glass transition temperature (249°C), high char yield (38.4%), improved CA (105.6°), higher efficiency of corrosion protection against mild steel surface (98%) and improved antimicrobial activity.

Abstract
The effect of three different cerium salts (Ce(NO3)3.6H2O, CeCl3.7H2O and Ce(OOCCH3)3.5H2O) on the ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of a model diamine-based benzoxazine (4EP-pPDA) was investigated. With the incorporation of the cerium salts, the curing temperature of 4EP-pPDA is reduced substantially, and the glass transition temperatures of the resulting networks are increased significantly. The three cerium salts exhibit different catalytic activities, which were analyzed by FT-IR, NMR, and energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX). Ce(NO3)3.6H2O was found to exhibit the best catalytic effect, which seems to be related to its better dispersibility within 4EP-pPDA benzoxazine precursors.

Abstract
A synthetic strategy to incorporate catechol functional groups into benzoxazine thermoset monomers was developed, leading to a family of bioinspired small-molecule resins and main-chain polybenzoxazines derived from biologically available phenols. Lap-shear adhesive testing revealed a polybenzoxazine derivative with greater than 5 times improved shear strength on aluminum substrates compared to a widely studied commercial benzoxazine resin. Derivative synthesis identified the catechol moiety as an important design feature in the adhesive performance and curing behavior of this bioinspired thermoset. Favorable mechanical properties comparable to commercial resin were maintained, and glass transition temperature and char yield under nitrogen were improved. Blending of monomers with bioinspired main-chain polybenzoxazine derivatives provided formulations with enhanced shear adhesive strengths up to 16 MPa, while alloying with commercial core-shell particle-toughened epoxy resins led to shear strengths exceeding 20 MPa. These results highlight the utility of bioinspired design and the use of biomolecules in the preparation of high-performance thermoset resins and adhesives with potential utility in transportation and aerospace industries and applications in advanced composites synthesis.
