Abstract
BACKGROUND The use of assistive devices and the presence of caregivers in the living space of older people using daycare rehabilitation facilities may increase their physical activity. However, the exact relationship between these factors and physical activity has not been well established. OBJECTIVE We aimed to examine whether assistive devices and caregivers were life-space factors associated with light-intensity physical activity (LPA) and moderate to vigorous-intensity physical activity (MVPA) among daycare rehabilitation facility users. METHODS Forty-seven daycare rehabilitation facility users were recruited (mean age: 76.5 ± 8.6 years; men: 16; women: 31). LPA and MVPA were measured using accelerometers and averaged over 7 days. Life-space assessment (LSA) and the Geriatric Depression Scale score were assessed. The LSA includes composite life-space, maximal life-space (LS-M), life-space using equipment (LS-E), and independent life-space. Grip strength and maximum gait speed were measured two times, and the best results were used. RESULTS Multiple regression analysis showed that LPA was significantly associated with sex (β = 0.773), grip strength (β = 0.434), and LS-M (β = 0.325), whereas MVPA was significantly associated with age (β = -0.421) and LS-E (β = 0.455). CONCLUSION A close association was found between LS-M and LS-E and the intensity of physical activity in older people who used daycare rehabilitation facilities.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Parkinson's disease (PD), known for motor symptoms, often presents early non-motor issues that significantly affect patients' quality of life. While effective treatments are limited, physical activity and exercise offer potential benefits. However, an overlooked aspect of the movement intensity continuum is prolonged sitting or sedentary behavior, and physical inactivity. Thus, this study aimed to conduct a systematic review investigating the associations between sedentary behavior, physical inactivity, and non-motor symptoms, specifically cognitive impairment, depression, and poor sleep in PD. METHODS Conforming to PRISMA guidelines, a systematic search of the literature was conducted via electronic databases including MEDLINE, CINAHL, Scopus, PubMed and PsycINFO up to February 28, 2023. Studies were included if they investigated associations between sedentary behavior or physical inactivity and at least one non-motor symptom such as depression, poor sleep, and/or cognitive impairment, in adults aged 18 years or older with PD. Quality assessment of the studies was performed using the Newcastle-Ottawa scale for cross-sectional and cohort studies. RESULTS Of the 463 publications found, 7 studies met the inclusion criteria (n = 980 unique participants). Sample sizes ranged from 17 to 487 participants, and all studies were observational, conducted in home or community settings. Collectively, these studies show that higher amounts of both objectively-measured and self-reported sedentary time are associated with worse scores on standardized measures of cognition and the Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ) summary index and its subscales, such as cognition (memory and concentration). Additionally, longitudinal cohort studies suggest that physical inactivity and higher sedentary behavior are associated with depression and cognitive impairment in PD. Less sleep was associated with higher sedentary behavior. CONCLUSION Associations observed between physical inactivity, sedentary behavior, and non-motor symptoms in PD underscore the need to address these factors for enhanced well-being. Further well-designed studies are essential to assess the impact of reducing sedentary behavior and physical inactivity on non-motor symptoms in PD. Abstract
BACKGROUND Information on determinants of patient-reported functional mobility is lacking but would inform the planning of healthcare, resources and strategies to promote functional mobility in people with Parkinson's disease (PD). RESEARCH QUESTION To identify the determinants of patient-reported functional mobility of people with PD. METHODS Eligible: Randomized Controlled Trials, cohort, case-control, or cross-sectional analyses in people PD without date or setting restrictions, published in English, German, or French. Excluded: instruments with under 50 % of items measuring mobility. On August 9th 2023 we last searched Medline, CINAHL and PsychInfo. We assessed risk of bias using the mixed-methods appraisal tool. Results were synthesized by tabulating the determinants by outcomes and study designs. RESULTS Eleven studies published 2012-2023 were included (most in Swedish outpatient settings). Samples ranged from 9 to 255 participants. Follow-up varied from 1.5 to 36 months with attrition of 15-42 %. Heterogenic study designs complicated results synthesis. However, determinants related to environment seem to associate the strongest with patient-reported functional mobility, although determinants related to body structures and functions were most investigated. We identified disease duration, the ability to drive, caregiving, sex, age, cognitive impairment, postural instability and social participation as determinants of patient-reported functional mobility. DISCUSSION Methodological quality of the studies was limited. No study reported an a priori power calculation. Three studies controlled for confounders. The included studies lack representativeness of the population of people living with PD. Standardized sets of outcomes could enable more systematic research synthesis. CONCLUSIONS Future research should focus on activities, participation and environmental factors and improve methodological quality.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Older adults with multiple sclerosis (OAMS) have declines in walking and physical performance that may erode community mobility defined as the spatial extent of mobility in one's daily life and environment. OBJECTIVE This study provided the first application and validation of the University of Alabama Birmingham Study of Aging Life-Space Assessment (UAB LSA) as a measure of community mobility in OAMS. METHODS The sample included 97 OAMS and 108 healthy controls (HCs) who completed baseline assessments as part of an ongoing, longitudinal study. The primary assessments included the UAB LSA and timed 25-foot walk (T25FW), short physical performance battery (SPPB), global health score (GHS), and geriatric depression scale (GDS) in both OAMS and HCs, and patient determined disease steps (PDDS) scale in only OAMS. RESULTS OAMS had significantly lower UAB LSA scores than HCs (p < .001). UAB LSA scores had strong correlations with T25FW(rs = -.641) and SPPB(rs = 0.507) in OAMS, and moderate correlations in HCs (rs = -.300 & rs = 0.384). The correlations between UAB LSA and GHS and GDS scores were significant, but small in OAMS (rs = -.239 & rs = -.231), and not statistically significant in HCs (rs = -.009 & rs = -.166). There was a strong correlation between UAB LSA and PDDS scores in the OAMS sample (rs = -.605). CONCLUSION We provided initial evidence for UAB LSA scores as a measure of community mobility in OAMS.
